Raziel POV I frowned at the picture Kylan placed on my table and laughed in anger. I angrily crumpled one of the pictures, which showed Alexandria with the chef I had seen her with a few days ago. Seeing them together in every picture made my blood boil, and I felt the urge to meet her again and confront her. As if that wasn't enough, the pictures showed them holding two kids who looked just like Alexandria. It made me so angry that I yelled and threw the pillows on my bed away. It had only been two days since I met her again after five years, and I was surprised to see that she was still as beautiful as she was back then. The only change I noticed was that her hair was no longer braided; it was now loose and packed into a bun. "Why are you so mad at her?" Ash, my lycan, asked me. "You were the one who rejected her five years ago and sent her away, so you shouldn't care about her being with another man." "Really!" I yelled at Ash. "Don't be ridiculous," I told him. "You're the one who refused to let her go after all these years because the rejection didn't work!" I reminded him about how the rejection had turned out. Even when I thought I had rejected her, it proved to be a lie because Ash wouldn't let her go. "She is my mate, and I can't let her go just like that!" Ash responded. "Stop acting jealous. If you want to have her again, then you should go after her and stop—" "Speak for yourself!" I yelled at him. "I never said that I wanted to be with her!" Ash laughed. "Then why the hell are you after her? You're angry that she is now happy with someone else, and it breaks your heart, right?" he asked, tutting. "Just say you missed her and—" "Stop talking, Ash!" I warned him and heaved a deep sigh. "I never said that I wanted her back, and the only reason why I'm acting like this is because I'm concerned about the man she is with. She could betray him yet again, and—" Ash laughed. "For a king, you sound so foolish that it's making me laugh! Just admit that you miss her and—" Before he could finish, I blocked out our conversation and focused on the pictures. Maybe Ash was right when he said that I missed her because that was the truth, but I couldn't be with someone like her after everything she did to me. If she had admitted to cheating on me, I would have been kind enough to forgive her and welcome her back into my arms. But she lied again, even when all the pictures were evidence. That made me angry that the woman I loved all my life could do something like that to me. "Your Highness," the door to my room opened, and Kylan walked in. "I have news about Lady Alexa," he informed me. I frowned and gave him a nod to continue. "I found her working in a restaurant a few blocks from this hotel," he announced. I smiled briefly and clenched my fists in anger. "How many days do we have left to spend in the human realm?" I asked him. "We have at least two more days to wrap up the meeting with the human king," he replied. "Good," I said and heaved a deep sigh. "Let us go to that restaurant right away," I ordered him. "Are you sure, Your Highness?" he asked. "Did I stutter?" I furrowed my brows at him. "You heard me right when I said that I want to see her and how miserable she is doing!" That was another lie. I was not going there to see how miserable she was, but instead, I was going there to see for myself how she was doing. I wanted to know if she had moved on without me. I needed to know, and I also had a plan of my own. A plan that would make her return to the Lycan realm with me. "Let us go now, Your Highness," Kylan said, and I nodded in response, following behind him. When we reached the front of the hotel where our car was parked, I received a text from an unknown number. When are you coming, Raziel? My birthday is in two days. We always celebrate it together, and I want you to be here. I frowned as I finished reading the text. It was from Celine, the Alpha of the North's daughter, and it was annoying to see her texts over and over again when I told her that I was not interested in her. I only saw her as a sister, but she wouldn't relent. Yet again, my mother was trying to play matchmaker to the point of making her visit me all the time. It was infuriating and annoying at the same time. "Your Highness," Kylan pointed at the door, urging me to enter the car. "It's time to go, Your Highness," he reminded me. "Right," I smiled at him and entered the car. Once the car started, I leaned back against the seat and closed my eyes. The anticipation of seeing her again caused my heart to react. That was the power she had over me. Alexa had ruined love for me, making it impossible for me to find it with anyone else. The pain she inflicted on me still lingered in my heart, while she had seemingly moved on so effortlessly. Irony at its finest. After hurting me, she settled down in the human realm and continued living her life, while I remained trapped in my pain. "Your Highness, we have arrived," Kylan's announcement snapped me out of my thoughts. I fluttered my eyes open and saw the restaurant before me. It wasn't a grand establishment, but it had a decent appearance. Stepping out of the car, I noticed a young boy running toward me. I was taken aback by his actions, and as I looked closer, I realized he was Alexa's son. Oblivious to his surroundings, he didn't notice a bicycle heading towards him. Reacting instinctively, I rushed forward and managed to grab the boy before the collision occurred. We both tumbled to the ground, but I made sure to shield him from harm. I could have chosen to ignore him, but something inside me propelled me to protect him. "Your Highness," Kylan rushed to my side. "Are you alright?" he asked, but I didn't respond. My attention was focused on the boy. "Are you alright?" I asked him. The boy, with his obsidian eyes reminiscent of Alexandria's, looked at me and started crying, rubbing his eyes. "I want my mommy," he said. I glanced at Kylan, who pretended to look away. Unsure of how to console the child, I simply picked him up and walked into the restaurant. As we entered, the humans began to clap, acknowledging the heroic act they had witnessed. I overheard their whispers of admiration as I made my way with the boy in my arms. "He saved that boy." "What a heroic act!" "He is so hot," came the words of a red-headed woman seated near the window. I smiled at her, and she shifted uncomfortably in her seat when our eyes met. However, Kylan blocked my view, and I couldn't see her again. "Caden!" a little girl ran toward us. She appeared to be around the same age as the boy in my arms. "Mommy is looking for you." Upon hearing her words, I recognized the girl as Alexandria's daughter. She was a spitting image of her mother, from her hair to the shape of her face. It felt as if I were looking at a miniature version of Alexandria. "Hi," I waved at the girl, and she eyed me suspiciously. "I am a good friend of your mom, and I..." "Why are you carrying Caden? Is he being a crying baby again?" the girl interrupted, using babyish words that made it difficult for me to understand her. From what I gathered, she mentioned her brother crying. "Cara," Caden started crying again, clutching onto my body. "I am not a crying baby. I just want Mommy," he said, sobbing into my shoulder. I smiled at their interaction and crouched down to the girl's level. "Where is your mother?" I asked her. "She's in the kitchen," the girl replied with a tinge of sadness in her voice. "She's busy at the moment, and we are all alone. Soon, her boss will come and start screaming at us," she complained. I chuckled as I listened to her rant. She reminded me so much of Alexandria. It felt like I was witnessing a younger version of her. At the same time, I felt angry that she had left her children alone to wander around the restaurant. It wasn't my business, but I felt a connection to the children despite having just met them. "Can you carry me too?" she asked, stretching out her hand. I nodded in response. ''I want you to carry me just like Caden and.....'' "It's okay," I reassured her, rubbing her hair, and lifted her from the ground, placing her in my other arm. "Your Highness, you..." Kylan attempted to protest, but I shook my head at him. "Alright, Your Highness." With both children in my arms, I looked for a place to sit. The restaurant was bustling, and even the waitress who was supposed to attend to us was called away by someone else. Once we were seated, I expected the children to let go of me, but instead, they held on tighter and started chatting with each other, almost forgetting I was carrying them. I didn't mind at all; in fact, I relished the feeling of having them in my arms. It made me imagine them as my children, with Alexandria as their mother. What a bittersweet imagination, I thought. "Caden, Cara!" I heard someone calling the children, and it sounded just like Alexandria. Cara was the first to release her grip on me and rushed toward her mother. "Mum!" she shouted, pointing in our direction. "Caden is refusing to let go of that man. He is so nice and..." Alexandria raised her head and our eyes locked. Time seemed to stand still for a fleeting moment, and I envisioned her smiling as she walked toward me. But when I blinked, I realized it was just my imagination, and instead, she wore a worried expression. "Your Highness," she lowered her head. "I... I will take him," she said, sounding surprised to see me after my warning. "Caden," she called for her child, but the boy refused to let go of me. "He is always..." Alexandria chuckled and tried to take him from my arms. As our hands met, a surge of electricity coursed through my body, confirming the bond between us. I couldn't tear my gaze away from her, even with her disheveled hair and stained chef outfit. "Your Highness," she called my name again. Just then, the boy jumped out of my arms and ran towards the entrance. I followed his path and noticed him heading toward the other chef I had seen Alexandria with on the night of the humans' event. Caden ran up to him and hugged him, just as he had done with me. In that brief moment, I felt a pang of jealousy growing as Alexandria approached them and they started conversing with their son. Frowning, I clenched my fists, then stood up and walked out of the restaurant, with Kylan trailing behind me. Even as I passed them, I didn't say a word, pretending not to notice their presence. When I reached my car, I heard Alexandria call my name, and I turned to face her. "Caden told me how you saved him from the bicycle," she said. I frowned at her, remaining silent, and then got into the car, pretending not to have heard her. "Let's go back to the hotel," I ordered Kylan, closing my eyes, aware that Alexandria was watching me as the car drove past her. I was wrong when I thought she was miserable. Instead, she was living happily with her family. I was completely mistaken, and it hurt.
