We turned our heads to her and she was standing outside of her room in her messy hair and sleepy state. I'm just thankful she was in her pajamas. I'm glad she was able to change before she slumped to bed last night.
"Let go of her!" she shouted before pointing her fingers at him. Scott right away released my arm and stepped back a few.
"How dare you hurt her in our own place?" she was raging because it was said that you could deal with a drunk person but not with someone who just woke up. She was quick to get on my side in no time.
"After cheating on her you still have the audacity to do that?" he was stunned and never anticipated how bad Audrey could be when she's angry.
"Get out! Before I call the police," in an instant he turned his back and left the house without saying a word.
"You freak! Cheaters are not welcome here," Audrey shouted at him before closing our door. I'm afraid all of our neighbors heard her thunderous voice.
Audrey and Scott have met each other once when I invited him to join our dinner two weeks ago. It was a swift one because Audrey has an event to attend and they hadn't talked a lot during that time. I recalled the next morning when she told me about her impression of him. She knew he won't do good to me after she did some research on his background. Audrey really has her own ways to find things and the result is fantastic.
She pulled me to the couch and I immediately switched off the television. I didn't realize that it was still playing when Scott and I were fighting earlier.
"Holy crap, Lauren! Are you alright?" the concern in her face was evident. I nodded and she pulled my arm to check if I got bruises.
"Learn to defend yourself next time! Kick his balls!" she sat up and gone to get a bag filled with ice to apply on my reddish arm. I wanted to laugh at what she said but I stopped myself because it was not the right time to fool around.
"Forget about that asshole and never ever talk to him again!" she put emphasis on never ever and I get what she meant. I'm not stupid to waste my time on him after what he did to me.
She handed me the ice pack and turned her back at me for a second. She motioned to get her sandwich on the table which I prepared earlier. When she returned to the couch, I could see that she was a bit calm unlike a few minutes ago.
"Now tell me about the guy last night," I flushed in an instant because I was ashamed of what I've done.
"I was tipsy and I'm not aware of what I was doing," I reasoned out but she looked at me with her meaningful smile.
"You think I didn't notice you?" she smirked. I had a feeling she won't buy anything that I will say.
"I don't know him! I was being carried away last night," I rolled my eyes at her but she kept on grinning at me.
"Carried away? Of course, he's handsome!" I frowned because I wanted her to stop but I think she was having fun teasing me.
"You know what? I guess he likes you," I shook my head because that was unbelievable. "The two of you look good together," she teased but I hissed in return.
"Stop it, Audrey. As if we will see each other again," I sighed and leaned on the couch because I felt like I'm exhausted by the way she looked at me.
"You'll never know," she said in a singing tone. She raised her left brow with a beam on her lips. It was like she knows something that I don't but I didn't exaggerate it.
I let her eat her sandwich and I focused on applying the ice pack to my arm. Suddenly, my phone rang and a number flashed on my screen. I pushed the green button right away "Hello?"
"Hi, is this Lauren Adams?" I heard a woman asked from the other line. "This is she. Who's this?" I answered because I didn't have an idea why she called.
"I'm Ana from Wright Company," she introduced herself. "I'm calling because you sent your CV and I would like to schedule an interview for you tomorrow," I stilled for a moment because I couldn't believe it was a job interview.
"Miss Adams, still there?" she asked to check on me because I spared a few seconds trying to form a word.
"I..I'm sorry, yes I would love to have an interview with your company," I stuttered but I was able to respond.
"Alright, please wear formal clothes for tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock," she informed. "Please look for me Ana Martin from Human Resource Department," she added some details and I instantly agreed.
When she dropped the call, I looked at Audrey in disbelief. She furrowed her brows and asked what was it.
"I have an interview tomorrow at Wright Company," I felt goosebumps. She smiled and felt ecstatic with the news too.
"That's great! Break a leg!" she cheered but I'm still nervous. Of course, it will be my first official job in case I will be accepted. My internship program before was a bit challenging but thankfully, I passed and able to get good feedback from that company.
We spent the rest of the afternoon watching tv series but Audrey got knocked down after finishing two episodes. I bet she was really tired dancing her ass off last night and boozing with those different cocktails.
After I enjoyed the delicious dinner that she cooked, Audrey called for me to fit formal dresses for the interview. I got so lucky that she has a lot of office clothes. I don't need to rush just to buy something to wear. I could buy a piece for me but I have no time as it's an instant interview.
She pulled out five different sets of clothing and placed them on the bed. I felt like she isn't satisfied that she handed me another one. "Try this," it was a string strap black dress with length right above my knee. It was beautiful and fit me perfectly. She pulled out a blazer from her closet and that was it, fantastic!.
"You don't have to overdress because I'm certain that you will get the job," she winked. The confidence plastered on her face like she was sure I can ace the interview. Crazy!
