Before I could totally go out of the door exit, I picked up my pouch on the couch where Clarisse and Drake were boozing on alcohol. I told them that I needed to go home because I felt dizzy. I requested them to tell Audrey that I couldn't wait for her anymore because my stomach was also aching. I know that was a lame excuse but even me isn't sure if she's coming home. I recalled her previous clubbing, sometimes she's not home until the next day because she could catch someone to get laid. Insane!
Outside the club, I was standing on the facade waiting for a cab. Surprisingly, I heard a husky voice from behind and I know it was him again.
"Hey, where are you going?" I closed my eyes before I faced him to say something. "Home," my only reply and turned back to hail a cab.
"Look, I'm sorry about earlier," he apologized. I just bowed my head and never responded to him because I felt ashamed. Thankfully, a cab has arrived. I opened the back door and entered instantly because I was afraid he will capture my attention if we spend more time close to each other.
Before I could say my address to the driver, he knocked on the front door and the driver pushed the button to lower the window. He handed him a hundred-dollar bill and said, "Drive her home safely". His tone was so serious and authoritative.
I wanted to protest because I have money to pay for my fare but he was quick and I wasn't able to refuse on time. Our apartment isn't that far and I could barely have 20$ on my bill yet he gave a 100$ to the driver. Why did he do that? It really added to my chaotic emotion.
The cab halted in front of our apartment and before I could go out, the driver thanked me. He was so happy to get a big amount of tip just for my ride. I smiled and thanked him back for driving me home safely.
As soon as I entered our place, I slouched on the sofa and picked my phone to send Audrey a message that I got home safe and sound. I decided to switch off my phone before we left the apartment to go to that club because I didn't want to read Scott's reply or if he will reply to me after sending him that message. But I was surprised because Audrey's message popped on my screen saying,
"How's the feeling of eating a stranger's face in a crowded place?" her message had a winking face with a tongue emoji. I covered my face with the palm of my hands because I felt ashamed. Damn Audrey! I wasn't aware she saw that because I thought she was busy grinding her ass to that stranger on the dance floor.
"Rest well, and will talk in the morning," her additional message but did not forget to put on a zany face emoji. She was really making fun of me.
My only reply was to for her to be safe at the club and that I will see her in the morning. I checked on my other messages but I haven't received any from Scott which I didn't really care about anymore.
I moved to my room to wash my face and changed into my pajamas. I laid on my bed and thought about what had happened. I was confused as to why I thought more of that stranger rather than the pain instilled by Scott for cheating on me?
I recalled his blue eyes looking at me intensely. His lips explored mine and that gave me shivers. He really had that different effect on me. He looked like a danger because I was captivated by his charm just by his appearance in front of me. I felt like I was going crazy.
When I woke up the next morning, I went to the kitchen to make some breakfast. I was sure that Audrey is sleeping soundly in her room because I saw her shoes and her pouch scattered in the living room. Damn, I believe she was really drunk last night.
It was already 10 but she hasn't come out of her room yet. Because I didn't want to disturb her, I opted to watch some movies on Netflix. I was in the midst of that drama movie when our doorbell rang. I thought it was a delivery she ordered from online shopping but I was shocked to see him in front of our apartment.
"What are you doing here?" I immediately asked Scott with my creased brows because I never anticipated him to come.
"You texted to break up with me then you will ask why I am here?" his tone was greatly alarming.
"Scott, I'm just helping you to get rid of my headache existence," I retaliated. "What do you mean?" he frowned like he was trying to play innocent.
"How's your lunch date with her yesterday? Camilla right?" he stunned the moment he heard it from me. "Who told you that?" he asked. I crossed my arms in my chest and raised my left brow at him.
"No one. I just saw you outside of that fine dining restaurant enjoying her company when you said you are with Arthur," I put emphasis when I mentioned Arthur's name and my tone was having some sarcasm in it.
"You are there?" he asked in disbelief. "Yes. I saw your face while lying to me on the phone," I slapped the words and I saw him with parted lips.
"Lauren, that was a lunch meeting," he rebutted but it didn't work on me anymore.
"You can't fool me, Scott. Lying is a form of cheating and seeing you with her isn't a simple thing," I insisted because I wasn't planning to buy his excuses.
"I know why you stayed with me for two months. Because you haven't got what you've wanted from me since day one of this relationship," I said and annoyance didn't go unnoticed. He looked at me with furrowed brows.
"You are challenged to get me under my pants," he couldn't utter a word because I know I caught his evil plans.
"You wanted to do the thing with me right? Sorry but I'm conscious enough to trust myself to someone who doesn't deserve me," he stayed still unable to respond.
"I tried to take the time to know you more but in the end, my suspicion wasn't wrong, you're an asshole!" he was like flabbergasted as he didn't anticipate me to burst my anger in front of him.
"If you want to break up, fine! You're a nobody and you're not a loss to me!" he countered. That added to my pain and I just took a deep breath to calm my nerves. I kept in mind that it would be better to end things sooner than being fooled for a long time. I couldn't stop him from cheating, then be it.
"Don't be so high of yourself, Scott. I don't need a man like you either," I shoot back. Whatever he was thinking about me, I didn't care anymore.
"I couldn't believe you for breaking my heart. I haven't done anything wrong to you but you chose to hurt me," I said with bitterness in my voice.
"If you have nothing to say anymore, leave!" I shouted because he was getting on my nerves.
"Fine! we're done!" he hit back much louder than my voice and he was burning in anger too.
"I hope she will make you happy and content. Good luck!" I said like there was a drip of acid in my tone.
But before he could leave, he held my left arm and muttered, "Lauren, bear this in your mind, you will never ever find someone better than me".
"You're reacting the way you are now because you can't accept that it's me breaking up with you, right?" I retaliated with so much irritation in my voice.
"Conceited are we?" I resisted his hold because it was a bit tight and I know I could get bruises from it. "Let go of me!" I shouted and glared at him fiercely.
I heard Audrey's door opened and I know we woke her up. The loudness of our voices from the fight thundered inside.
"What's with the commotion here?"
