The following day which was Valentine’s Day, Katherine drove to the court to file for the divorce. Marshall did not come along with yet, and told her he was going to join her later to which she did not complain. Unlike before where there used to be a lot of couples on the court counter, today there are just a few couples present, so it wouldn’t take long for them to get the divorce. When she got there, Katherine had to wait for a while for Marshall's arrival before they could be attended to. Although, it was not Katherine’s idea for them to get divorce, she was happy that it came directly from Marshall because had it been it was her, she would not master up the courage for the divorce. She left everything behind, her money and properties disguising as a poor woman just to marry him. Back then,Katherine married Marshall only as a health boon for Old Mr. Grants, who was Marshall’s grandfather. Although, she knew Marshall Grant was not in love with her, she thought as long as they spend time together in their marriage, she could win his heart. Fast forward to three years , she could not could win his heart, but now everything just made sense. She didn’t want to waste any more time with him, and thought it was only right for them to get a divorce and start like anew with her career. Soon after Marshall arrived. He walked to where she was sited. “Not a lot of people care today, so let’s get it done quickly.” “Sure!” She drawled. It was soon their turn, they both signed the divorce settlement. Even though she made it clear that she was not after his money, Marshall still gave her 30 percent of his property and some company shares. The divorce papers were handled on time. After they handed their marriage certificate, they were given divorce certificates. Katherine did not waste time and started filling the necessary requirements. Marshall was in love with another person, so it was only normal they go divorced quickly so he could be with the love of his live while she live her life normal. Now that they were getting a divorce, she would not be so crazy to fall in love with any other man and just focuse on her career. After filling the divorce papers, Marshall brought the idea for them to had lunch. Katherine did not hesitate to it and agreed almost immediately. Marshall stared at her and walked outside the office, Katherine followed along him. Marshall chose a nearby five star restaurant so he drove her there. Katherine was unhappy inside, but did not bother to make it seems obvious. For some reason, she felt so sad that her marriage with Marshall was going to crash this way, but thinking about all what she went through and he still did not appreciate her, she let her thought brush through and just sighed. When they got to the restaurant and settled down, a waiter came to them and offered the menu to them. After going through the men and the prices, Katherine stared at Marshall and said,”You’re the one paying right?” Marshall pretended he did not hear what she said. He pulled out a box of cigarette from the pocket of his suit, took one from the pack lit it up and popped from it. “Why? Can’t you pay?” He returned back a question to her. Katherine smiled, “of course not. Unlike you who have a lot of money, I have none. I don’t have a job to make a living.” Katherine said. Marshall smoked the cigarette again and said,” You don’t have to worry about that anymore. With the properties you’ll get after the divorce, I guarantee that you’ll live a good life.” Katherine scoffed while starring at him, “It’s you paying right?” Marshall place the box of cigarettes back into his suit’s pocket. “Of course.” He said. “Hope you aren’t affected by this?” Raising his eyebrows, he was asking her if she did not mind him smoking while she was present. Katherine stared at the cigarette. In the past he never used to smoke when he was around her, but now he was beginning to show his true characters just after the divorce. Truely he had no regards for her. “I don’t mind.” She said. The waiter came back and distracted them. “I want all of the most expensive food here.” Katherine said. The waiter was stunned. All of the most expensive food? He had been working in this restaurant for a very long time and not once had he encounter someone order such much just like she did, he got to figure out that she was definitely wealthy. With his eyes wide open, he asked,” You mean all the most expensive food here?” Katherine gave a nod. “Yeah. Why, any problem ?” She asked, now looking at him. The waiter bowed his head and muttered, “Of course no problem. I’ll get them right away.” He left immediately. Marshall on the other hand did not care what she ordered and just continued smoking his cigarette. Katherine thought he was going to complain about the food, but was surprised to see that he did not say anything. She became relieved. After the cigarette was through, he stared at her for a while before saying, “ You haven’t still asked me why I wanted to divorce you to be with my lover.” She aallowed his words to sink inside of her. Katherine smiled and said, "I don't want to. It was undoubtedly long in your wish list. I am aware of that.” She was therefore somewhat mentally ready for it. Or, having recently gotten married, she knew this day would arrive. That was earlier than she had anticipated, though. After the death of Old Mr. Grant around a month ago, Marshall was unable to wait any longer. Marshall hesitated, taken aback by her response. Lips twisted, he made no attempt to clarify.
