Chapter 3: The One with His Introduction All rights reserved San 2045 2019 "Will that be all sir?" He heard the nervous, impatient voice from ahead of him. Lifting his head which was immerged in the file he was currently reading, he narrowed his eyes, observing that his personal assistant was still standing in the same place waiting for his order. His hand clutching tightly at the file and he was shifting on his feet like a nervous wreck. Randhir almost wanted to roll his eyes at that but instead he straightened his posture and looked ahead. The manila folder was lying on the table, the reports he asked to bring. "Did you send the jewellery and note to Sharon? I asked you last night to do that." He asked with his voice deep and then he vaguely remembering the angry face of her last afternoon. He shuddered at that. She looked scary for the tiny five feet girl, she surely would be angry after he dumped her petty ass. She was not exactly the girl you introduce your parents. Not that was the concern but the way she spoke ill of Samaira that mattered. Well she was hot, he could admit that. She seriously need something to calm her down. What a waste at that way he thought. He should select the less fierce ones, the one that won't throw the stapler away from your desk. Terence nodded his head. "Yes sir I did this morning." He remembered that girl very well, she harassed the office number calling for his boss for almost thirty times a day. He already had arranged for jewellery, note and some flowers as this was daily thing for him to witness with every other girl. He pitied his boss, unlike others who taught of his boss as the playboy or stud and always wanted to sleepy with him. He knew that it annoyed his boss though he won't show it on his face but his empty eyes and a cold harsh glare was enough. He didn't understand what made him this way though. He wanted to know. Terence had been working for Randhir from three years, bearing his attitude, his tantrums. He knew almost everything about him except his past. He thought that his boss needed a girl who will settle down with him and genuinely love him unlike all these different girls who wants him for money. Randhir inwardly smiled at the efficiency of Terence. He was proud of his decision of choosing Terence as his PA. Though he was a nervous wreck most of the time and impatient at doing things. He was a good one, well considering he didn't want to sleep with him. The previous secretary was ready to sleep with him, went to the extent of showing up in his cabin with nothing but somewhat shabby lingerie and heels. It was one of the most infuriating time because he had been already stressed and so he immediately fired her. It was chaotic time, considering all employees were so interested in that scandal than working around like they are paid to do. "Yes that will be all. Thanks." Randhir gruffed while taking the manila folder from the table and nodded at Terence. Terrence heavied a sigh and turned back around. Randhir then was engaged back in reading all the statistics and whatever the file was about while Terence exited the cabin while closing the door softly. After few minute of reading, he was so immersed in the file that he didn't realise that his phone started ringing. With a sigh he shut the folder and lifted the call without even glancing at the caller ID. "Hello. Randhir Khanna speaking" "Heyy. Ron it's me. I just called to inform that I am at your parents house waiting for you. Come back soon" A huge smile lit up his lips as soon as he heard his best friend's voice after a long week. He rested his back against the plush leather seat, got comfortable before running his fingers through the already messy hair. Then after that he spoke, "Hi Samaira. It's good to hear from you after a week by the way. And is uncle fine now?" He tried to make the last statement with very measured tone, cheerful. He could already picture her face, sad and dull. Samaira's father was ill from past two years, it was a miracle that he was still fighting against the heart disease. He had undergone a bypass surgery but that didn't help. He was getting weaker and paler also experiencing constant pain in his heart for some reason and Randhir felt his gut clench seeing that guy suffer in that way so he doesn't talk about the gloomy topics around him, trying to maintain a light and healthy conversation around. Samaira was busy these days with her father helping him, looking after him. "Pa is getting better now. I took him to the hospital the other day and the doctor gave him another prescription so there's that. Anyways are you joining us for lunch? We are waiting here." She asked from other side of the phone. Her voice sounded hopeful so he couldn't deny her. Besides he wanted a break and also it was a typical Tuesday so the work load was not much as he was working his ass off on weekend attending meeting in Seattle for his luxurious hotel to build over there. He'll need this break. So he sighed and nodded his head, later realising that they can't see him to which he cleared his throat before voicing out. "Yes. I'll join you guys but it will take me an hour to get there" HE already warned because the traffic during lunch is terrible and he's sure that it would take him a while to get back home. "Ugh fine." Samaira exhaled dramatically and he was sure that she must have rolled her eyes at his complaining tone. "Okay see you then. Bye" She added softly to which he made a sound of agreement and ended the call and kept his phone back on the table. Releasing a sigh he looked back at the file but there was some uneasy feeling settling inside him. Just like the ones we have before something harm is ahead. He shook his head to release the uneasy feeling but something was still lingering in there. What was going to happen? *** "Do you want some olives Randhir?" He heard Samaira's voice beside him. He snapped his head up at the mention of olives. She loved olives, he still remembered that single detail about her. She loved olives even in her sandwiches, it was her favourite treat. But as the flashback of their last meet flashed in his head he clenched his teeth angrily. She betrayed him or tried to by pinning Zach's child as his. He thought that she was different, had different views about her but she turned out to be some another money hungry gold digger. He was disappointed. "Ron...Hey" He felt someone touch his shoulder to whiff he automatically jerked and turned around to look at the intruder. "Hey... are you fine?" Samaira asked softly, concerned by his sudden spacing out to which he tightly nodded his head. "Yes I am fine. And no I don't want them. I hate olives" He mumbled furiously while looking back at his place full of rice and stir fry. Samaira observed his weird behaviour and shrugging her shoulder she continued to eat her food. His father observed his son carefully, something quite didn't fit right with him from the past eight years. Something was troubling his son. He was more cold and distant than before, he was concerned for his son and hoped he would open up about his problem. "Uncle when is aunty coming back? I haven't seen her around since weeks" Samaira asked while chewing into her food. The dinner table looked quite empty without her, the fact that she filled the table with her fashion talks and interacted with everyone made the table lively. "She will be back by evening I think." Hesh replied smiling at her though he was troubled inside. Renuka was not herself this morning after the phone call but she didn't tell him anything aside from the fact that she will be back by evening. Randhir absorbed the information though he had clue where his mother would be he didn't need to say it loud, beside he was sure that she must be busy doing something fashion related. "Randhir, do you remember Oliver Morello? My best friend?" Hesh asked his son setting his spoon aside wiping his mouth with the napkin. That got Randhir's attention he looked at his father who suddenly mentioned Oliver Morello. The best friend of his father. He very well knew that happy bubble, that old man. He had seen him at Thanks giving two years ago. He had given him some useful information for opening the hotel in Italy, Morello's hometown. "Yes I do remember him dad. He helped our company in aquiring that Italy deal. What a man!" Randhir croaked while he sipped at water. Samaira zoned out on the talk. "Yeah so he is retiring this year and he invited our family to the party. I hope you're free this weekend so you can go and pay him a visit. I would have gone but I'm attending your mother's gala event in Paris." Randhir was shocked to hear the news of that old man's retirement. He was a tricky yet clever businessman owning so many hotels more than his family business. After his retirement there was a chance he could aquire those shares he thought. "He's retiring. Now that's a news and who is taking his position? As far I remember he has no children" Randhir enquired seeming interested in the topic. He wanted to set some hotels in India as well but he was too busy to go there but now was a very good opportunity seeing he was retiring Hesh inwardly smiled at his son's curiosity, he was sure his son was thinking of aquiring the shares. He had promised his best friend that they will together start the project in the state they had grown up, Goa. He could let Randhir do that afterall his son was not happy in New York, he needed a change and this was the chance of change. "I believe that position is still open. You talk to Oliver, he has specially mentioned you over the phone. The party is on Saturday night and he's arranged a suite in his hotel." Hesh said standing up and patting his son's shoulder. Randhir nodded at his father still deep in the thought. He had to clear the meetings lined on Saturday but that was worth it. He wanted to do some business with Oliver Morello. Samaira sighed, disappointed that Randhir will not be there in Paris along with her. She was the showstopper but he had to go somewhere. She knew that he might be having some ideas in mind that's why he's leaving to India. She continued continued to eat her food while Randhir stood up to make a call. "Terence is there any important meeting planned on Saturday or Monday?" Randhir asked without even greeting his PA. That was his regular thing, he came straight to the point. Alarmed Terence quickly checked the diary for meetings. He knew this was a urgent call from his boss . "Sir you have four important meetings. What about them sir? They are all lined up this weekend." Randhir thought about that for the moment, they were important but nothing he couldn't postpone on Tuesday. He was hell bent on going to India it was very rare opportunity. "Postpone them for Tuesday and book me a ticket to Mumbai on Friday morning. I need to go there." Randhir thought out loud and with that hung up his phone. He's going back. ***
