Chapter 2: The One with The Rebellious Kid All rights reserved San 2045 2019 "You're the most rebellious kid for a seven year old" Sanyukta said showing no sign of anger but pure defeat. She sighed looking at the deep cut on Riona's leg. Aryan sympathized with her, he could totally understand what she meant. He was glad that today he was the one to pick Riona and Siddharth. Siddharth was his sister's son studying in the same class as Riona's. Riona stared at her mother and gave her a smile trying to ease her tension. "You little devil, your scared your old man" Oliver said trying to act strict sitting beside Riona who was now rested on the plush leather sofa with her wounded leg on the coffee table. Sanyukta shook her head as she very well knew that he could never even glare at his granddaughter that was how much he loved her. He almost cried when Riona was born. "But Grandpa that little puppy was crying for help" Riona added innocently and then looked back at her wounded leg. Though there was a lot if pain due to the deep cut she was glad that the doctor only bandaged the leg and not gave her injection. The pain was worth as she saved the puppy that was trapped near the school ground. Not exactly near the ground but in a pit which was deep. "I don't know what to say to her." Sanyukta sighed and got up from her seat and walked into the kitchen. Oliver felt trapped between the two of them he truly loved and cared for. He turned towards Riona who had her cheeks puffed and her arms folded. She looked exactly like Sanyukta, black long hair, but she had emerald black eyes, cherry lips and milk white skin. He shook his head smiling and looked at Aryan who stood up to excuse for a phone call but he very well knew that he will go to Sanyukta. "You did a great job bambino. Sono molto fiero di te." Oliver said patting her left shoulder to which she turned towards him smiling brightly. She looked like she would bounce up and down if her leg would not have been wounded. "Si?" She asked crossing her arms against her chest and narrowed her both eyebrows at him, observing him like that detective to which he smiled nodding his head. She looked at him for a moment then turned back and let out a sigh. "But mom is not very happy. I should have called for help or wait till Samuel arrive" Riona said deep in thought. Oliver smiled at the girl's thought, she herself was very clever figuring exactly what should she must have done. Samuel was their driver who was ill today as of why Aryan had to pick Riona from the school. "Yeah you should have opted for one of the options, you would have saved your feet and from your mom's anger. I hope you will think wisely rather than steadily next time bella" Oliver said patting her back. Sanyukta relaxed after drinking some cool water, it had indeed been a revolting moment for her. After she hurriedly rushed back home she had found Riona curled by the pillow whimpering that broke her heart. She was mother alright, she had been after learning the reason if her injury though she could totally tell her daughter felt pride more than pain, Riona was much of that kind. She dialed the doctor but Aryan had already done for it so the doctor arrived after five minutes and treated her. Those fifteen minutes of hustle and bustle were really stressful. "Hey are you fine?" She heard the concerned voice from the corner of the kitchen. She looked towards the source of voice finding him leaning against the wall observing her carefully. He was there for her always when no one where by her side though he was three years elder than her, he was her first friend here. Though she knew he had more feelings towards her but she didn't persuade that as she had completely shut down that part, she was still healing. If that's the excuse she tells Oliver, he had been pestering her from past two years to get married. Though she was a single there were dozens of them ready to marry her, she was clever, witty and beautiful. But she was not interested to get married not that she never dreamed of it but her dreams were have been of someone she loved. "Sanyukta" he called out more firmly to get her attention. She snapped back at him. "Yeah....yes Aryan I'm just a bit distracted. That's it" She said as he walked to stand beside her. He was taller than her. He was very attractive for a thirty year man. He was a legal advisor for her company and also he owned a law firm. "I can see that. Rio is just a kid, she'll get around okay?" "Get around? She's seven Aryan and....and I don't know whether to scold her or hug her for her bravery!" Sanyukta exhaled deeply looking at her feet that suddenly seem interesting. "I'm sure Mr. Oliver would have put some thoughts in her head. I'm sure she won't attempt this again. Relax" Aryan said giving her a full blown I-am-smitten-by-you smile. She just gave a weak nod. Why can I love someone like him? He understands me and also will accept Riona unlike him. But heart always wants what it wants though. She quickly need to change the topic or speak something to distract Aryan who looked any moment to let his heart out. This is what she feared, she respected their friendship too much to lose it just because he had more feelings towards her while she didn't. "Oliver asked me to step up as the next CEO? Can you believe that? I mean I don't know anything about handling such a big responsibility" Sanyukta said turning towards him. For a while that had completely left her mind. Aryan face her a assured smile. "I could totally believe that you deserve the post Sanyukta. It's not about how experienced you are, it's about how much eligible you are of handling the position. Being a Vice president for years and working under him might have given you much of idea and he completely trust you." Aryan said putting a hand on her shoulder while Sanyukta turned towards him narrowing her eyes at him. "Are you spying on Oliver and me?" Aryan laughed off "I believe not. Why?" "Because I heard the same thing about come out from Uncle at lunch." "Great minds think alike" He responded to which she giggled and that was it. *** "I could get quite used with this" Randhir muttered to himself looking at the sea view from his balcony. The suite was luxurious, after a long sixteen years of flight the man could get used to this. The sun rays were streaming as it was the bright noon and he just had a relaxing bath. The Gateway of India was overlooked from there, the 20th century build. He had a exhausting journey but he was glad that there was someone to decide him from the airport and bring him to the Morello's Hotel. He missed India, ten years ago he was staying here, towards the Juhu beach of Mumbai and then everything. His mood darkened at the sudden thought after that. Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door breaking him from the thoughts. "The door's open" he shouted walking back to the room. The door creaked open and Oliver walked inside with a smile on his face, Randhir gave him a smile after he closed the door and walked inside settling himself on the plush large sofa. "I'm glad son you have kept open the door so that the opportunity could knock in" Randhir shook his head at the choice of words Oliver used but then settled in front of him. Randhir observed that he looked lot more old and fragile not at all like the man he met two years ago, many things change in the span of two years but one thing was still same, Oliver's choice of words. Though he seemed aged like more older than he must have he yet was confident, clever businessman. "How are you Uncle Oliver?" Randhir asked formality evident in his voice. Somewhere along he lost how to be warm towards the people he cared about, maybe this was the effect of the day that she left calling him loser for not accepting the responsibility. "I'm fit as ever. I can't say same about you son. Thinking of aquiring my shares here, eh?" Oliver laughed patting Randhir's shoulder as shock was evident on his face. Randhir quickly tried to mask his shock but then failed to do so. "How can you be do sure about it?" Randhir challenged with a glint in his eyes hoping for the answer he expected. He knew that his father might have said that to Oliver. "You don't see me for two years and suddenly you cancel everything to be here for my retirement. I am a businessman Randhir" Oliver answered smugly sensing Randhir's discomfort. Randhir tried to maintain his posture and say it was not true but it was, not that he didn't care for his father's best friend but he sure was here for shares he couldn't deny that. "I'm sorry I have nothing to offer you son. I gave the position to my niece, she's an efficient businesswoman I dare say. But I can surely offer you a deal." Oliver said seriously this time. He wanted Sanyukta to deal with Randhir, so that she could learn from this young man. Randhir was imposed the responsibility of CEO at a very young age of mid twenty three. He knew the business world very well by now. He had seen every kind of people, he could teach a thing or two to his niece. Randhir gazed puzzled at the man sitting in front of him. He had already offered the position to his niece, he thought about for a moment. For a person like Oliver it was not easy to give something so close to his heart to anyone foolish just because they are relatives. He must have thought something and handed the position, he was a businessman for so long. Twenty seven years of experience. Deal with Morello sounded quite pleasant to him, atleast not company but the deal was satisfying and also he was eager to meet the CEO who grabbed his opportunity. "I would like to hear about the deal" Randhir said getting more comfortable in his seat. Oliver smiled inwardly at the victory, he was sure Randhir was eager to meet his niece who had grabbed his opportunity. He was not going to lose this, he very well knew that Randhir wanted to built hotels here in India gut he didn't had a base nor quite the publicity yo compete with the Morello's. "Your father and I had planned years ago that we will build a five star hotel in Goa. We were very young and amateur that time, also I had change of plans I wanted to travel world. So that remained pending. I want you to complete it with the collaboration of our Holding. We can start the project by this month. If you're ready I will introduce my niece to you tomorrow so that you both can further discuss the project." The idea of starting with Goa excited him, that was his father's birthplace and a very beautiful scenic place. There were lot of tourists every year and the Hotel along with the lodging sounded very economic. He thought about it for a moment. He had only Seattle proposition currently in his hands so he could take up this project. "I'm in" Randhir said forwarding his hands for a handshake to which Oliver extended his hand as well. They were surely unaware of what this deal was going to bring in. ***
