Lynnsey took Spike to wander through the entire neighborhood, but there was no sign of any kitty around at all. It was not until then that she realized that she was fooled.
She looked down at the kid and asked, "Are you really here for your kitty?"
The way she looked at him made Spike feel stressed. He didn't want to lie, but this was the only way he could stay with Lynnsey.
He bit his lips and said nothing.
Lynnsey knew she had guessed it right, and she said flatly, "What's your name? What's your home address? I'll send you back home."
Spike suddenly had an urge to cry. He took such a risk and ran so far just to meet her, but Lynnsey didn't want to see him at all. And now she was going to drive him away.
He stared at Lynnsey and whispered, "I don't want to go back." His eyes turned red, and the unwillingness in his eyes nearly turned into tears.
Lynnsey met his gaze and got the same feeling again. She felt as if her heart was clenched, which made it hard for her to breathe.
Liam and Nicole were both sensible and well-behaved, and neither of them was a crybaby. For all these years, the times they cried were not more than five.
But now, seeing the tears in Spike's eyes made Lynnsey not feel good.
She sighed, squatted down, and comforted him softly, "If you don't want to go back, you can sit here with me for a while. But in the end, you still have to go home. Your parents will get worried about you."
Her voice was as soft as a breeze, casting Spike's bad mood away instantly. He couldn't control himself anymore and threw himself into Lynnsey's arms.
Lynnsey hadn't seen that coming and nearly fell to the ground. She picked him up and said, "Let me take you to the park over there. You can play around for a while."
However, just as she turned around, the sound of footsteps sounded behind her. Lynnsey got alert and looked back when she found herself surrounded by a dozen bodyguards dressed in black.
They dressed exactly like those bodyguards of the Bridge family. Lynnsey thought that they were Amber's men, but then, a man walked out behind the bodyguards.
It was Ray Morgado.
The look on his face showed that he wasn't in a good mood right now. As soon as he showed up, Lynnsey could feel that Spike got tense in her arms.
She hugged Spike tighter and raised her eyebrows lightly. "Mr. Morgado, what a coincidence! This is the second time we met today."
Ray saw the black coat on her body, which he had put on her two hours ago. This woman didn't even get changed before she tried to get close to his son.
He narrowed his eyes and retorted in a sarcastic tone, "You have done good research on the Morgado family and made it to approach us again and again. What do you want to do?"
He hid his two sons so well that the outside world hadn't ever heard of them at all. But Lynnsey was able to find Spike exactly.
Spike shrank in Lynnsey's arms, and his little face turned pale with fright.
He could tell that Ray was mad at him, and he screwed up this time.
Lynnsey noticed it and frowned. She patted him on the back lightly and said coldly, "I also want to ask you the same thing, Mr. Morgado. What exactly do you want to do, bring so many bodyguards into the neighborhood where I live?"
The two looked at each other, and the air got tense suddenly.
The sneer on Ray's face grew. "Is she courting death?" he thought to himself.
He put a hand in the pocket of his trousers and said coldly, "Come over here, Spike Morgado."
Spike shuddered at his words.
Lynnsey was a bit surprised. She glanced at Spike in her arms and then at Ray before she asked, "You are a Morgado?"
Spike's face turned even paler.
"I'll count to three. You know the consequences if you don't come over." Ray's patience wore out.
But before he started to count the number, Spike jumped out of Lynnsey's arms and moved slowly toward Ray. Speechless, he strode over and picked Spike up by collar before he threw him to the bodyguard behind him.
"Take him away," Ray ordered coldly.
The bodyguard immediately picked up Spike and kept him under his arm.
But Spike growled, "Daddy! It was my idea to sneak out to see her. It has nothing to do with her. You can punish me as you want! Don't blame her!"
