Elisa’s POV-
I woke up early today. It was my first day at school with the dragon children, which means my first day at school with Drake. It is just unfortunate that he is older than me, because he will be in different classes than me, surrounded by both Lycan and dragon girls. The thought of that made me growl. Storm was growling too. She began pacing in my mind, as I selected the summer dress I was going to wear. I couldn’t decide between red and white tie dye, or blue. I decided to go with the red. It is my favourite colour after all. I decided to wear my black flat gladiator shoes with my dress. Storm grunted her approval.
“I don’t like that we are not in the same class as him, a lot of the girls in his class have their Lycans now, they will be all over him. The females of our kind are always drawn to power, they will be drawn to him,” Storm grumbled.
“They all saw how Drake was with us, at the welcome feast, and they have seen us walking the pack lands together, so they will know that he is off limits,” I replied.
“And, if they don’t leave him alone, I will make sure we scent mark him, so people stay clear of him,” she grunted back.
“Well, let’s hope it doesn’t come to that,” I chuckled, as I got ready for school.
Once I was dressed, I brushed my teeth and hair, before putting my shoes on. There was a knock on my door, I could smell who it was straight away. I called out, “You can come in.”
The door opened and there stood, Drake, Kenneth, and Elijah ready to walk me to school. Elijah was in the same class as me, but sadly, Drake wouldn’t be in the same class as me. How was I going to fight the urge to mindlink him while we were in class? They were all smiling at me.
“Good morning, Princess. Are you ready for school,” Drake asked.
“I am ready. Are you and Kenneth looking forward to your first day at school,” I smiled, jumping to my feet and grabbing my school bag.
Drake held his hand out to me, and I gladly took it, as he said, “Maybe we should have lunch together, what do you think?”
“I like that idea,” I smiled at him.
“I am looking forward to my school day, but I would like to see if I can join Dawn for lunch. Is the preschool and our school in the same building,” inquired Kenneth.
“There is only one school building, it is all in one place,” Elijah informed him.
We all left to make our way to school, and I asked, “So, Kenneth, why are you and Dawn so close? I know she is Drake’s cousin, but what is she to you?”
Kenneth smiled, “She is my mate. She knows she is too. I can’t claim her till she is eighteen, but that doesn’t mean I can’t spend time with her. So I mostly play games and help her learn new things.”
“That is a bit weird, but your mating process is completely different to our process,” Elijah said.
“Yes, it is Elijah. Remember the books that I was given on dragons? They tell of the mating process of dragons, I read parts out to you,” I smiled.
“You have books on dragons,” Drake asked.
“Yes, when your mother was here, because she was ill. She gave me them as a gift, so I could learn about dragons,” I explained.
The walk to school attracted a lot of attention, because Drake was still holding my hand. He was so proud to have my hand in his, as we walked through the school corridors. The more students stared, though, the more I began to chew on my bottom lip. I have never been nervous before. I mean I have never had a boyfriend, and Drake is four years older than me, as well as the fact that I know he is my mate. It is making me feel nervous, because people will be jealous, and some dragons will probably figure out that he knows I am his mate. Drake must have noticed me chewing on my lip, and stopped walking, before cupping my cheek. He used his thumb to pull my bottom lip from between my teeth, he then tapped the side of my head. I knew that meant he wanted me to mindlink him, so I did.
The moment the mindlink opened, and he felt the connection between us, he asked, “Why are you chewing that soft lip of yours? Are you nervous?”
“I am nervous, people are staring at us holding hands. The rumours are going to start,” I whispered, in the mindlink.
“Don’t be nervous, I don’t care about rumours, and neither should you. I really hadn’t noticed that they were staring at us holding hands. Maybe we should really give them something to stare at,” he smirked.
“Like...,” but before I could continue, he moved closer to me, wrapping his arm around my waist.
His lips grazed mine gently, and our eyes fluttered closed, as the kiss grew deeper, our lips moved together perfectly with his hand slipping around the back of my head. His tongue traced across my lip, begging for me to open my mouth. We had never kissed like this before, but I wanted to kiss like that. Our tongues battled in one another’s mouths. In that moment, all the nervousness that I felt disappeared. But, was I too young for this? Hell no, I didn’t care, we are fated mates, just as long as we wait for the serious stuff. Kissing can’t hurt, and if I am honest, I like it.
Drake pulled away from the kiss, both of us a little out of breath. He just looked in my eyes and smiled, whispering, “Now, they have something to talk about. Come on, let’s walk you to class.”
“Honestly, you two need to get a room,” Kenneth interrupted.
“Shut up, Kenneth,” Drake bit back.
“I think I have to agree with Kenneth, I don’t really need to see another boy smacking on my little sister,” Elijah smirked.
I immediately punched him in the arm, narrowing my eyes and pointing my finger, “I am your twin.”
“Alright, fine. How is it you can still punch like that at this angle,” he grumbled, rubbing his arm.
“Skill,” I smirked, noticing that Drake and Kenneth were both trying to restrain from laughing their heads off.
We arrived at mine and Elijah’s classroom. I turned to see Drake staring at me. I smiled up at him, and he leaned down and gently placed a kiss on my cheek, before returning my smile, with his own handsome smile.
“Have fun in class, I am only a few doors down, so I will meet you out here,” he smiled.
“Good, I can’t wait, have fun in class,” I smiled back.
I headed in to my maths class with Elijah, and took my usual seat next to Paige, as I watched Drake and Kenneth head towards their class. Once I sat down, Paige leaned over and whispered, “You are the talk of the school. That kiss in the corridor was hot.”
I blushed, “It was, wasn’t it? I honestly was so nervous when I walked in this morning, with him holding my hand. He noticed and decided to kiss me.”
“You are so lucky. You literally had all the boys falling at your feet last year, and now you have a king wrapped around your finger,” she giggled.
“Well, I am a Princess, anyway. We both know that dating or sleeping with a princess is a high goal among our people. Just like how she-wolves and female Lycans are drawn to the highest male authority. You know that,” I smiled.
The lesson dragged by, because all I wanted to do was go be with Drake. Storm wasn’t helping the matter, by continuously asking to mindlink Drake. She didn’t like him being in a classroom with other females. There was nothing we could do about it though. He is eighteen in four years, which means that he will be away from less women. After maths class, Drake walked me to my history class. This was the last lesson I had before lunch, which is the part of the day I was excited about.
Lunch time came by quite quickly. Drake was going to meet me outside the cafeteria so we could get lunch together. After leaving class, I walked down the corridor and then turned the corner, to find Drake leaning against the wall, with his back against it, waiting patiently for me. As I turned the corner, little miss spiteful harlot herself began to approach Drake. Her real name is Scarlett. She was the school slut, she is seventeen, and I kid you not has slept with or attempted to sleep with every single boy, in her year, the year below her, and the year above her. Now that there is a King in her school, yeah, he may be younger than her, but he is a King. If my brother, Elijah, was older, I am pretty sure she would be all over him as well.
Drake literally didn’t pay any attention to her. As I got closer, she basically threw herself at him. Her hands were on his chest, trying to get him to pay attention to her, but the moment he saw me, his gaze was fixed. I stopped next to them; arms crossed across my chest. He smiled at me, pushing her off. She glared at me.
“Why don’t you go find yourself a boy who cares about paying attention to you? King Drake clearly doesn’t, he only has eyes for me, because I am his girlfriend. Now leave,” I growled, throwing my royal aura out.
She immediately whimpered away. Drake felt my aura, though it did not affect him, but it made him smirk. He wrapped his arm around my waist, before whispering, “So, my girlfriend, what would you like for lunch? By the way, that was so hot.”
I smirked, as I rested my head on my shoulder. We settled down for lunch with my brothers and Kenneth. Paige joined us too, she couldn’t stop laughing at how I used my aura on Scarlett. If I am honest, I was shocked that I said I was his girlfriend. We never really spoke about being boyfriend and girlfriend, but one thing is for sure, there was a huge smile on his face when I said it, so it clearly made him very happy. I would confirm it later with him, when we have a quiet moment alone.
One thing I did notice from the encounter with Scarlett, when I used my royal aura, was it affected some of the dragons too. My father’s aura can’t even affect the dragons, like mine can, which was unusual, because he is the King of all beasts, his aura is felt by all beasts, some just feel it more powerfully than others, like the werewolves. I was unsure about whether I should speak with my parents about it. Or, maybe, I should speak with Drake first.
The rest of the school day went by slowly. When it was done, I met with Drake, and we walked home together. But he went off to his first meeting with the council of elders, while I went to get on with my homework. I figured he would catch me up later on this, either way I would find out. Plus, recent events between him and me would probably be mentioned and questioned by the members. They will want to know when they will get a Queen. I was not ready for that. I had a lot to learn, and a lot to go through before then. I will deal with that when the time comes.
