Chapter 7

1802 Words
Drake’s POV- I was knee deep in a conversation with Kenneth, when Elijah came down the stairs. He was staring straight at me, maybe glaring. But he smiled at me, “She is almost ready,” he paused, his eyes narrowing, “Take care of her.” He quickly walked off after that. Did he know that she was my mate, and was doing some big brother s**t? Kenneth was also slightly stunned by what happened, both our brows were furrowed, and we looked at one another. He asked, “Does he know?” “I have no idea, but either way, what kind of a big brother would he be if he didn’t make a veiled threat to his sister’s date for the evening,” I smirked. Kenneth’s brow furrowed with confusion, “I thought they were twins.” “They are, he was just born a few minutes before, making him the older twin. Hence, why he is next in line to the throne,” I explained. “Ah right, I really can’t wait to dance with Dawn, she begged me to dance with her today at the feast. I agreed,” Kenneth bounced anxiously from foot to foot. “Well, you must take a breath and contain yourself. I know it is hard to trust me, I do, but at least Dawn knows you are her mate, my mate doesn’t even know I am her mate,” I smiled at him, patting him on his shoulder. “Your right,” he said, as I spotted movement in the corner of my eye. I turned to look up the stairs to see Elisa standing at the top of the stairs in the most beautiful red ball gown. It had the thinnest shoulder straps, which were connected to a figure-hugging bodice, before it flowed out into a dome-shaped skirt. It was truly beautiful. She told me that she had made it. She is certainly very talented. She descended the stairs so gracefully, that I couldn’t help but stare. Kenneth leaned over and whispered, “You might want to close that mouth, you might catch a fly.” Elisa giggled, the sweetest giggle ever. She was now standing in front of me, my eyes were still fixated on her, she was so beautiful. When she turns eighteen, she is going to look like a goddess, and I get to watch her grow into the goddess I know she will become. The longer I stared, the more she blushed. Kenneth elbowed me in the ribs to break my fixation on Elisa’s beauty. I bowed to Elisa, in an attempt to try to hide my embarrassment. I really hadn’t realised I was staring at her, with my jaw dropped. She reached out her hand, which I took and kissed her knuckles, before I stood back up straight. “You took my breath away. You are so beautiful,” I smiled at her. “Thank you, you look so handsome and royal,” she blushed. A young girl, she had to be the same age as Elisa, in a blue dress. I recognised her. It was Paige. She wrapped Elisa in a hug. She let her go and bowed to me, and said, “Forgive me, King Drake. I had to hug my best friend really quick.” I smiled, bowed my head, slightly acknowledging her apology. Before Kenneth interrupted, “Good thing you said that, you interrupted his kissing chance. You never know what a dragon might do if he can’t kiss what he wants.” Elisa blushed, we had already kissed once, it was our first kiss, and since then I have wanted nothing more than to kiss her again. Paige’s eyes darted from Elisa to me and back. Realisation spread across Paige’s face. She turned and glared at Elisa, “You kissed. You had your first kiss with King Drake and you never told me. I am your best friend. Why didn’t you tell me?” “I am sorry, it only happened last night, and I was going to tell you,” Elisa replied. “Well, tell me what was it like, kissing an older boy,” Paige pressed. Kenneth chuckled, “I was there, they didn’t even realise I was there. I witnessed the whole thing.” “Oh, so King Drake’s best friend sees you two kissing, and you don’t tell me,” Paige, trying to keep a straight face. She had one of those I am so happy for you looks while trying to keep an offended expression. It was quite a funny scene. Honestly, what are girls like? Elisa looked at me, and I couldn’t help but smile at her. She smiled back at me, with her million dollar smile. It melted my heart. I was still holding her hand in mine. She was still blushing. I couldn’t help but touch her cheek. She moved closer to me, her eyes still fixed on mine. I knew she wanted to kiss me. But even then, this was too out in the open. I didn’t want people to know yet. So, I was going to keep this as a quick peck, as we did have a feast to go too. I leaned down and placed a gentle, yet loving kiss on her sweet lips. It was a peck more than a full blown kiss, like the other night. I gazed into her eyes, and tapped her head gently, hoping she would understand. Thankfully she did. I felt her connect our minds in a mindlink, as she asked, “What is wrong?” “I know that wasn’t like the kiss we shared last night, and trust me, I want it to be, but I don’t want too many people knowing that there is anything going on between us,” I explained, within my mind. “What is going on between us,” she inquired. “Can we talk about that later? We need to go in for the feast. I am supposed to be doing a speech with your father,” I asked. She nodded, and broke the mindlink. Paige grabbed Elisa and gasped, “You mind-linked him, didn’t you? I didn’t know you could do that.” “It takes practice, but yes I can,” Elisa smiled. “You are powerful, just like your mother,” she beamed. “Wait, how are you mindlinking, Drake,” Kenneth interjected. “Because my mother is a white Lycan and she learned to adapt her mindlinking powers. Mine, however, I have never ever needed to adapt. So, since Storm came to me, I can mindlink outside of my species,” Elisa explained. “Come on you four,” Robert called out from behind us. We turned to see Robert, Violet, and the rest of their children entering the room, along with the Beta and Gamma families. We approached them, and Paige waved us off before heading inside to join her family. Robert smiled, “Are we all ready to go to the feast?” The four of us nodded in unison. With that, we all turned to enter the throne room, which was where the feast was being held. When we entered, everything was bowing to us, standing from their seats. We headed to the head table, where we would sit. I had a seat next to Elisa, and Kenneth was on the other side of her, while I sat next to Robert. Once everyone at the head-table had taken their seats, our people took theirs. That was when Robert stood back up to give a speech, patting me on my shoulder to get me to stand back up. “Thank you all for coming to the feast. This is to welcome the dragon people on to our land, to their new village. They have been through a lot in the past few years, so I expect you all to welcome them. Tonight is about forging the future and relationships between our people. So, please talk to each other, get to know one another. Once we have eaten, we will move to the banquet hall, which has been converted into a bar and dance floor,” Robert explained. “I would just like to say a few words, as Robert said tonight, it is about forging relationships between Lycan and dragons. I would like to thank you all for working so hard to organise tonight. My people are grateful, I know that. My people and I have been through so much since this war with the vampires began, and I suspect there is much more to come. I know many of you are probably wondering why I am King at such a young age. War, by now, has probably claimed my parents' lives, making me the King. I have already reassured my people, that I would do everything I can to secure and protect them in the future. That being said, I would do anything I can to help the Lycan people, for all the help you have so graciously extended to my people. Now, I do believe we should all enjoy this wonderful feast while we get to know one another,” I spoke clearly and loudly. “Yes, let’s enjoy this glorious feast,” Robert smiled. We retook our seats, and dinner was served. We enjoyed the incredible roast dinner that had been prepared for us. There was a lot of meat and vegetables. I honestly enjoyed the roast dinner. Mother used to love cooking a family roast with my help. I was able to learn what Elisa loved for food, which was great. I hoped I could cook for her one day, but perhaps in my own kitchen. She certainly loved her food. She eats a lot of food, but never seemed to put on any weight. I suspect it had something to do with her powers and being a Lycan at such a young age. Dinner went swimmingly, we had lovely conversations. There was so much food, but there was literally nothing left by the end of the night. It showed me how big an appetite Lycans could have. I wondered if it got worse when they were pregnant. We knew where near that stage but it did make me curious. If I am honest, dragons can have an appetite, especially because of what we have been through the past few years. Everyone began to finish up their dinners, so that meant that we were all going to head in to the banquet hall to dance and drink the night away. I was certainly going to be giving all my dances to Elisa, if I could. Maybe dance with Violet, in a diplomatically respectful way, of course. Cementing relationships is the most important thing right now.
