Chapter 6

Elisa’s POV- I spent some of the morning with Drake. He was kind enough to escort me down to meet Paige, my best friend. She was coming over to the palace, to get ready with me for this feast tonight. Drake had been asking the whole time what I would be wearing. All I told him was a ball gown. As that is a befitting dress for a Princess. Storm was being grumpy. She wanted to go for a run, but I wouldn’t let her, as we had to be ready for this event tonight. Paige had brought several dresses; she wasn’t sure what colour or style to wear. For a ten-year-old, she had an insatiable need to look her best, fashion wise. She loves to have similar clothes to me without us looking like complete twins. She had so much more confidence than me when it came to fashion and boys. But I can also see that I do not have to worry about boys, or at least finding my mate. While Paige was trying on some of the dresses she had brought with her, she asked, “So, is King Drake looking to find his Queen?” I instantly growled. I knew why, but I couldn’t really tell her that. She turned with the biggest grin on her face, gasping, “I knew it.” “You know what,” I asked, a little too defensively. “Since your Lycan, Storm, came you and her have figured out who your mate is already, haven’t you,” she pressed. I just fell silent, I really didn’t know what to say, and I felt if I spoke, I would reveal it. “King Drake is your mate. I have seen how he looks at you, and I know dragons know who their mates are as soon as they look at them, no matter how old they are. So, he can feel the full mate bond, but you can’t yet, can you,” she guessed. I looked down at the floor. I could feel the heat rushing to my cheeks. I knew I was blushing. She came and sat down next to me on my bed. She looked at me, trying to figure out my emotions. She whispered, “Elisa, talk to me, let me help.” She was literally the only one I talked things out with, but sadly, this was the one thing I had struggled most with telling her about. I slowly nodded, “Okay.” I paused, taking a deep breath, “Alright, Storm and I have figured out that he is our mate. But he legally can’t do anything that crosses the line, until he and I are eighteen, and neither can I.” “I knew it. How does it feel knowing he is your mate? What about children? I was told that you feel tingles of electricity when your mate touches you. Is that true? Do you feel it,” she questioned me. I smiled, “I feel the tingles, but they are so faint that sometimes I don’t even feel them. I suspect Drake feels them a lot more, but then he is a dragon, and their mate bond is slightly different. As for how I am feeling, I don’t know. I am so calm when I am not with him, but the moment I am with him, my emotions go haywire. I have no idea about being able to have children. We are two different species, but I guess we will find out when the time comes. But then I suspect my parents know something about this, and they haven’t told me anything.” “Why don’t you ask them,” she said, as she stood up to try the next outfit on. “Even if I did, they would never tell me. You know how protective they both are of me, they wouldn’t tell me anything that they thought would cause me pain even if it was a tiny little bit. I never get a straight and fully honest answer out of them. They always tell me it is the truth, but I just get this feeling like there is more. Storm always says there is more,” I explained. “Maybe they will tell you soon. What about this dress,” Paige asked. “I would go with blue, it embodies our pack colours, if all else fails, that colour is the best to go for,” I replied. “What about Kenneth? Is he single,” she inquired. “I am not sure. The first time he was here, he enjoyed the girls in the pack being all over him, but now he seems different, like he doesn’t really care about the attention, much like Drake. So, maybe he has found his mate. I will try to find out some time,” I smiled, leaning over to check my bedside clock. I had an hour to get ready and get into my dress. I spent months creating a beautiful red ball gown dress. I was creating it to be worn on Drake’s fifteenth birthday. I decided I would make another. I needed to get ready. “Right, we need to hurry up, we have an hour. Have you chosen your outfit,” I asked, getting up from my bed. I headed to my walk-in wardrobe, and opened the doors, as she replied, “Yeah, I am going to go with the blue dress. What are you wearing?” I grabbed a strapless bra and a pair of underwear, to wear under my dress. I smiled, “I will be wearing that red ball gown I made.” I began to change into my outfit, while Paige changed into the blue dress. We did the zip up on each other’s dresses. We quickly did our hair, and I put on my tiara. Dad always wanted me to wear it whenever we had events. We slipped into our high heels, and she asked me, “Will we be going down together, or do you need a minute?” “Go down, find your family. I am sure they will be here soon,” I smiled. She nodded, and left the room. Now, I just needed to take a deep breath, before heading downstairs, as I believed Drake wanted to wait at the bottom of the stairs for me, and I knew he was eager to escort me to the feast. I needed to calm my nerves, I checked myself over in the mirror. I look good, well I think I do. There was a knock on my door, and I called out, “Come in.” My door opened and in came my brother, Elijah. He smiled at me, “Well, don’t you look beautiful.” “No, I don’t,” I groaned. “You are right, you don’t,” he smirked. I turned jumping to hit him. But he caught my wrists, and chuckled, “I joke.” I settled down, sitting back down in defeat. He came and sat next to me and smiled, “You are my little sister. I think you are one of the most beautiful people in the world. You always will be.” “Do you think Drake will think the same,” I asked, quietly. “Why do you care what he thinks,” he responded, as he furrowed his brow. “I... I think he might be my mate. I know we have eight years before we find out for certain, but dragons are different. They know the moment they see their mate, no matter how old they are. That is why I think he is so fixated on me,” I explained. “Then if he really is your mate, he wouldn’t care if you came dressed in jogging bottoms and an oversized sweatshirt, with no make-up and your hair a mess. He will find you beautiful no matter what,” Elijah said. I smiled, “Thank you.” Elijah stood up to leave, heading for the door. He turned and said, “If he really is and he hurts you, he will answer to me, King or not, I will deck him.” “Well, aren’t you the sweetest? Now go. If he is there, tell him I will be down in a moment,” I smiled. He chuckled and nodded, as he left my room, and headed downstairs. Elijah always seemed to appear when I needed a confidence boost or advice. I guess that was apart of us being twins, we always knew when we would need each other for something. It was strange, I guess he knew it with me. I took a moment longer, before I left my room, closing the door behind me. I got to the corner, at the top of the staircase. I peeked around the corner of the wall, and there he was. Drake was at the bottom of the stairs, in what I could only assume, was the formal wear for the dragon King. He was even wearing his crown, with a cape going down his back. He looked incredibly handsome. Storm perked up, and purred, “He looks very handsome.” I nodded my agreement to her, before I took a deep breath, and stepped out into view.
