CHAPTER 7

1086 Words
EDWARD’S POV I have been to so many countries in this world but never once have I ever seen a beautiful lady like her. The lady that I had met earlier at the hallway was so beautiful and perfect. Heck, do such ladies exist? I am so shocked.   She had totally swept me off my feet and this is something that has never happened ever since I was born. I have never met a lady who made me feel heat seep through my skin as if I was made of paper. Never!   I sat at the empty seats I found and tried focusing on the list of millionaires right in front of me but all I saw is letters and words in that paper. I couldn’t concentrate and work because of her. My mind was not thinking straight. All I thought about is kissing her and making love to her after I take her home. I couldn’t help it anymore. I wanted to meet with her in person and talk to her. I wanted to know her name and everything that I would possibly need to know about her. Most importantly, I want to make her mine. I don’t care if she is seeing someone or not. All that I know is that I will do anything to ensure that she wakes up next to me every single day.    I had planned on going home but I changed my mind. I am going to stay and attend this boring wedding renewal because of her. Tonight will be all about getting to know her better.   I am forty years old and I know for sure that the world is sending her on my way so that I can marry her.   ** MOLLY’S POV “Do you love the red lipstick?” I asked Lenny after I was done doing her makeup.   “This is so perfect,” Lenny was so happy when she looked at herself in the mirror.   “You are welcome.” I gladly stated. I was happy to have made her happy. Was that the only reason for my happiness? Of course not. I was happy that I had met Edward. Something deep within me tells me that the two of us will be together someday.   “What did I do to deserve a friend like you?” She implored teasing me playfully.   “Come on, let us go. This is your parent’s renewal and we cannot afford to be late,” I advised and we both left the room after she wore the gold detailed heels that I had picked out for her.   My mind was racing as we descended down the stairs. Edward had occupied my mind fully. I wanted to talk to him and get to know him better. By the look of things, I can feel like he is the man meant for me. He has all the qualities that I want in a man and this makes me attracted to him like a moth to a flame. I can’t hold it till the end of the ceremony. I have to look for him and have a word with him. Where the heck is he?   First, I have to excuse myself from Lenny. This means that I have to come up with a good lie. As I was brainstorming for one, the universe did its thing again to ensure that I end up looking for Edward.   “Miss, your mum is calling for you,” A girl dressed in black and white attire told Lenny.   “You should go, I will wait here,” I quickly mumbled when Lenny wanted to turn the request down.   “Are you sure? We can go together if you want, I don’t want you to get bored or something,” Lenny offered.   “Come on Lenny, go ahead. I will be fine,” I told her.   “Okay. I won’t take long,” Lenny excused herself before walking away.   I had to act really quickly. I had seen Edward go to the other side of the house hence I decided to stalk him. I really hope that I am going to find him.   I quickly walked down the hall and took a right turn where he disappeared to but I was not able to see him. The open lounging area on the right was empty. I tried going upstairs hoping to see him but he was nowhere to be found.   Shit! Had I lost him? I could feel my chest tightening.   My heart was beating at twice its normal speed. I could feel bitter bile tasting at the back of my throat. My palms started sweating.  If I lose him, then I was not going to forgive myself. This is my only chance to have a happier ever after that I had been dreaming of ever since I was a little girl yet I have wasted that chance. I checked three more rooms hoping to find him but he wasn’t there. . As if to frustrate me even more, my phone started ringing and my mum’s number flushed on the screen.   What does she want? Hasn’t she tormented me enough?   “Hi,” I said in a loud voice despite the fact that I was hurting on the inside.   “Molly, I was calling to ask if you dropped the bullshit that you pulled out the last time that you were home,” She said.   “Leave me alone mum. I know that dad was murdered. I swear, once I sort my little issue, I will work on that case and bring the killers to justice.” I told her through gritted teeth. If she thinks that she will get me to give up on my father’s case then she better think again.   “Good luck with that. Anyway, I will tell you for a millionth time. Your dad died of heart attack. No one killed him. I can send you the forensic report if you want, don’t waste your precious time following up on a dead case,” She chided.   “Stop it!” I yelled before hanging up. She had successfully gotten into my nerves for I was literally breathing fire as I stacked my phone back to my bag. I hated her. She had successfully added to the frustration that I was having on this day.   “Hi beautiful,” I heard someone call from behind and believe you me, when I turned, I saw Edward right in front of me.
