CHAPTER 6

MOLLY’S POV

“Why did you pull me like that?” I asked Lenny as I followed her upstairs to her room. That was so disrespectful especially now that I was getting to know the handsome guy.

“What were you thinking, talking to him?” Lenny scolded me.

“What are you talking about?” I was getting confused. There was nothing that I have done wrong. What the heck is she talking about?

“I have saved you from a terrible mistake. Okay? You should be thankful,” She said right before putting the key in the keyhole and opening the door of her room.

I tried to put one and two together but nothing was making any sense.

“What do you mean? I was just talking to the handsome man in the black suit. How is that a problem? ” I explained myself as I tried to hold my anger. What Lenny did back there was so disrespectful. How dare she pull me like that in front of that gentleman? What will that man think of me from now moving forward?

“That man is my Uncle Edward and for your information he is not handsome.” Lenny announced taking a seat on the bed as I sat on her study chair.

“So, why didn’t you want me to talk to him?” I asked her.

“My parents don’t like him. All they told me is that Uncle Edward is a bad person. All his billions are not legit. He obtains his wealth by doing shady deals,” Lenny said this and my mind wandered off for a long while.

Wow, I was not expecting this. Things are getting perfect. Her uncle is a billionaire? This is exactly the person that I wanted to date. I had seen him. He had a very perfect physique. He was handsome too. His style and his deep voice had managed to sweep me off my feet yet we had just met for a couple of minutes.

I didn’t focus on the fact that Lenny told me that some of his business were not Legit. I know how families operate. Once you distance yourself from them because you want to achieve more in life, they start questioning the source of your wealth. I know that this is the case with Uncle Edward. Deep down in my heart, I could feel that he was a good person. There is no way that his handsome face was capable of doing dirty deals. No way.

“Have you heard about what I have just said?” Lenny questioned faltering me from my thoughts.

“I am sorry that I zoned out. I really love that portrait,” I pointed at a huge portrait written in Chinese syllable. I wanted us to change the topic so that she cannot keep on feeding me with more lies about Uncle Edward. To me, Edward is a good person.

“Oh, that portrait was given to me by my parents on my 18th birthday,” Lenny said with a smile.

“I love the finish its giving the wall,” I told her.

“Thank you,” Lenny said with a smile.

“Come on, help me get a nice dress.” Lenny requested and I was happy to go with her to her walk-in closet.

“Wow, you have so many dresses in here, “I exclaimed as I admired her dresses arranged by type and color.

“What is the theme?” I asked her as I ran my hands through her dresses.

“White and gold,” She said.

“Then we are getting you a white dress,” I said before heading to the white section of the dresses. I quickly pulled out a silky-laced dress that caught my attention.

“You should try this,” I handed it to her and she went ahead to change.

When she walked back, I knew that this was it. Lenny was so beautiful. I really don’t understand why she doesn’t love wearing dresses. I swear what Lenny wears 100% of the time is leggings and tees.

“You are so beautiful Lenny,” I told her as I led her to her vast mirror with white edges for her to confirm what I was telling her.

“Oh my goodness!” She exclaimed because she was not expecting this.

“You are so perfect,” I told her.

“Thank you.” She said with a warm smile.

“Come, enough with the staring at yourself. Let us get your make-up done, “I told her.

“Okay,” She said and we went to her dressing table.

“So, does your uncle have a wife?” I asked her as I lined her eyes.

“No, he has been single for the longest time. He always says that he has never met a girl of his dreams, the girls he has met so far don’t fascinate him enough to make him settle with them,” Lenny told me and I found myself getting excited.

Wow, Edward is such a mystery guy. I can’t wait to find him and have a word with him. This is the 21st century and I can always make the first move on a guy.

Nothing is going to hold me back.
