ZORA
The soft click of the door woke me up. I sat up groggily to find Agatha sneering down at me.
I rolled my eyes at her. " what now?"
"Get out," She said curtly.
Without hesitation, I scurried to my feet and went in search of the kitchen first.
I found it almost an hour later or rather the dining room.
My mouth watered as I took in all the food set on the table. It was a buffet enough to feed twenty people. It wouldn't hurt if I ate some.
Without second thoughts, I sat by the table and served myself a good amount of food, satiating my rumbling stomach.
After I'd eaten to my satisfaction, I went back to my room, clueless as to what to do with my life, yet.
I sat on my bed and out the window. The sun was really bright outside.
I sat there till sun down, just staring, then I left the room, an idea in my mind.
I went outside to study my environment and pay a visit to the current Luna, maybe she would talk sense into her mate and have him release me.
I stopped the first maid I saw, "Please can you direct me to the Luna's room, I would like to see her."
She stared at me as if I had gone crazy and left, leaving me hanging.
I glared at her retreating figure on disbelief.
Rude!!
I went to other maids and got even worse reactions from them.
If the Luna didn't want to see anyone, they could have just said that instead of them acting like I said an abominable word.
"I hear you've been asking about the Luna." A voice sounded behind me.
I turned to find a lady smiling at me, from her dressing, she was a maid too though the cloth was different.
"I'm Agatha's assist." She explained.
"Okay." I nodded, "Can you please point me to the Luna's, and I'll be out of your way in no second."
"Is there a problem?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No.... Yes, I just need her help with something and I haven't seen her since I arrived."
"That's because the Luna is dead."
"Sorry?"
"The Luna died two years ago, so refrain from talking about the Luna, it's putting everyone on the edge."
"R.. right. I'm so sorry. I had no idea."
"Now you know."
"Was she sick?" I blurted out, wincing inwardly.
"None of your business witch. Focus on saving the Alpha's mother and leave. No one wants you here." She snapped and made to leave.
RIP to a friendly face.
It's obvious I'm never going to find one here.
"Wait!" I called, stopping.
She turned with an eyebrow raised, "What now?"
"Any idea where I can get a phone?" I asked, crossing my fingers in hope.
I could swear a ghost smile appeared on her lips.
"Getting a phone around here is very rare and risky. No one really wants the technology."
"Okay.... who has a phone around here?"
"Go to the sewers, ask around. I'm sure one of those rats would have one." She replied
"Alright, can you point me in the direction?"
She smirked and walked away.
I balled my hands into a fist beside me and made my way outside, looking for the sewers.
The children outside the pack house were more than happy to show the way.
I scrunched up my nose in disgust as I entered, there was dirty water everywhere, mold in the wall and garbage everywhere, yet some people found it comfortable to sleep here.
I walked up to the fourth person I saw, the other three were sleeping.
"Hi." I whispered, "I'm looking for anyone that gad phone, and I was directed here."
"You mean Marrissa?" The man asked.
"Yes, Marrissa, please."
"She's at the end of this place. Be careful, you don't want to get on her bad side."
"Thank you."
"That's not going to cut it. I helped you, so you have to help me too. Allow me live in your backyard, I'm not asking for much."
"Actually, I am a prisoner here. The Alpha's prisoner."
He eyed me, "Can you get food?"
"I... I can try."
"Food for a month."
Is he serious?! That's ridiculous.
I have no intention of staying here for a month.
"One week." I answered.
"Three weeks," he countered.
"One week, and that's final."
"Fine." He grumbled and covered himself with a wet blanket.
I found her,
Marrissa.
She had short black hair, vary fair skin stained with dirt.
She was all alone and sat with her knees up staring at the wall.
"Marrissa?" I called as I reached her.
She didn't answer.
"Marrissa?"
No response.
I moved closer, closing the distance between us.
"Don't touch me." She said cold.
I froze, my hand inches away from her arm.
I cleared my throat and took back my hands, "I need your help, please. I was kidnapped, and I need to call my family back home."
"Cool, wait till midnight and howl to them. I'm sure they'll hear. "
"They are humans." I answered, "Borrow me your phone for the night. I'll return it back."
"Who kidnapped you?"
"The Alpha." I mumbled, fidgeting under her cold gaze.
My life is in her hands right now.
"Hmmm.... you're the witch."
"I'm not a witch. Nobody believes me and I need to be back home to my children."
She narrowed her eyes at me, "What do I get in return?"
"Anything you want." I replied, "Just give me the phone. I can get you food if you want too."
She scoffed and reached into the night beside her and brought out an old phone.
It was the one with buttons.
Still,
Calvary.
I reached for it, but she held the phone away,
She looked at me dead in the eye, "I want out."
"Okay, out of what? I'll do my best to help you out. Just tell me what to do."
"Take me with you when you escape."
