ZORA
"T.. take you with me?" I gaped at her,
"Seriously?"
She shrugged, "That or nothing. You aren't the only one that wants out of this hell hole."
"Then why haven't you tried to leave?"
"Look, do you want the phone or not?!"
"Fine." I agreed and took the phone from her, "I'll be back."
Right, I turned back to her, "Where's this place?"
"Middletown in Orleans."
I nodded and left the sewers going back to my room.
The instant I was out of peering eyes, I switched on the phone and waited.
There was no network signal.
I paced around the room, searching and waiting for signal.
I walked into my closet aimlessly, and signal came on instantly.
There were just two network bars, and one of them was fluctuating really badly.
I exhaled deeply and called the calvary home.
"Nine one one, what's your emergency?"
"I've been kidnapped. Please send help!!" I cried out, breathing in relief.
"Calm down ma'am, what's your name, and where are you at? We can't pinpoint your exact location through this call."
"My name is Zora Hendrix, and I am at Middletown in Orleans."
"Alright, miss Zora, I'm with you, did you say Middletown?"
"Yes." I answered.
"Sadly. that place you mentioned, Middletown, is it? That place does not exist."
"What! Please, that's impossible. I was kidnapped!!"
"I understand it's April fool's day."
"I'm serious here!!"
"I'm calling this off as a prank call, please don't waste my time."
"Wh.... what. No, please, you have to beli-"
She ended the call.
Oh crap, I'm just done for. Why does today have to be April fool's day of all days??
I called the number again.
"Ma'am, if you keep calling, I'll have no choice than to write you for a misdemeanor."
"And get me arrested, I don't mind. Just get me out of here."
No response. She had ended the call again.
I sighed in exasperation. Things just kept getting worse, and that was even way annoying.
Pacing around my room and running my hand through my hair.
An idea hit me.
Yes, my room is on the third floor, but that shouldn't do a lot of harm, right?
If I can find my way out to the town square, I can make my way to the border and out of this damb place.
So I waited.
I sat at the edge of my bed, my veins pumping with adrenaline.
Agatha entered to check up on me and brought me food, I didn't move.
She came back to carry the plate, I didn't move.
Even when I heard the lock of the door, click on place.
The clock on the wall struck twelve.
Finally.
I opened the window and looked now, none of the guards were stationed there. Everyone should be asleep now.
One leg over the window seal, then the other, and I jumped.
I bit on my lower lip to stop myself from screaming. How did they make it easy in the movies.
This was difficult.
I pushed myself up and limped towards the town square, relying on my memory from eight years ago.
Thankfully, some things were still the same, as well as the route to the border.
I could see the gates now, my legs were aching really bad. Once I get to civilization, I'll have it checked out and sue the police for ignoring a distress call, and I'd hug my babies and run to another country where I wouldn't be haunted by the Alpha. I'd be at peace.
I can literally taste freedom on my lips now.
It's so sad I wouldn't be able to see the look on Ryker's face in the morning when he finds out I ran away.
There were guards at the border gate, but they seemed to be asleep.
Things are falling in place for me, I guess for the first time, I can thank the moon goddess for helping me.
The gate was locked, and I couldn't risk trying to get the key, which meant I would have to climb over.
I took a deep breath and proceeded to climb the eight foot gate.
Suddenly, a hunter's flashlight was pointed in my direction.
I froze and turned a little, so half my body was glancing back. The light blinded my vision.
"The light, please, so we can talk." I half yelled, just in case it was just one of the guards
The hunter's flashlight moved a little, allowing me to see who was behind it.
My heart skipped a beat, my throat went dry instantly, and my hands slipped.
I landed on my back, pain shooting throughout my body.
"Ryker."
"Took you long enough." He smirked.
I struggled to stand up, groaning in pain.
My brows furrowed instantly when I saw who was standing feet away from him and glaring at me.
"Marrissa!" I snarled, "Is this you?"
"Of course not." She snapped, "But it sure feels good to see you. Were you really going to leave without me?"
Before I had a chance to reply, the flashlight came back on my face,
"So tell me, meiga, how did you feel when you call for help and no one came to your rescue?"
"Damn you!!" I growled, "I hate you for keeping here against my wish, I swear to you, I'm going to kill you. I'll put a blade on your neck and grin with pleasure as I slice it proudly."
"You can save your pleasantries for letter, focus on the helplessness you felt when you knew no one was coming for you and imagine it in a hundred fold when you see your stupid boyfriend and your friend's children lying dead at your feet. I'm not going to warn you again, meiga, but you don't want to make me angry ."
A chill ran up my spine at his words, and the image in my head.
"Lucas is going to find me soon."
"I'm sure he will when he finishes all the alcohol in Idaho."
I glared at him.
"Take her to my room." He ordered
