Chapter 6: Knowing more

Mia's Point of View

I am back to avoiding Wade once again after what happened last night. Sofia even went here multiple times already because he was asking me to join him during breakfast but I declined. I resist going to the dining hall for two hours after breakfast time just to be sure that I am not gonna meet Wade again and I am glad that I always succeed in avoiding him. I also make sure that I am not gonna wait for more than two hours because he might think that I didn't go to the dining hall to eat again and bring me some food in my room.

“Miss Mia, Wade is asking you to join him for dinner." I heard Sofia ask again.

“No, I will not be joining him. Tell him that I am still reading a book." I said without opening the door.

I heard her footsteps going away which made me sigh. How many times does he have to tell her to come and get me? He should already know that I am avoiding him and I don't want to eat with him. We are not even close to being in the same room. I feel like I am suffocating whenever he is near me and he might be the death of me.

I am back to reading the book that I have taken from the library that I have seen when I was walking around after breakfast. There are a lot of books and it feels like I am in paradise. It's just too bad that there are no lights there for me to read this book there since it seems like the only part of this castle that has lights is the rooms that are occupied.

What I took is just a short book that a person can read in one sitting so I have already finished it. I am planning on getting a new one after dinner.

After two hours, I left my room and went to the dining hall. The helpers were already eating their dinner so they looked at me in surprise. They are not expecting me, I know since it is already late at night.

“Good evening, Miss Mia. Are you going to eat already?" She askedd. “We are sorry if we have eaten already. We were just so hungry already that is why we started eating."

They are all looking down as if they are ashamed of what they have done but to be honest, it is alright with me. I don't have any problem joining them but is it alright with them?

“It's alright. Can I just join you all? I am already famished." I said.

All of them look at each other as if they are not sure what to say before answering me.

“If it's alright with you, Miss Mia," Sofia said.

I smiled and sat on the empty chair next to Sofia. She was surprised but suddenly recovered from it however they were all still standing there as if they were just going to watch me eat although they already told me that they are hungry.

“What are you waiting for? Dig in." I said to let them know that it is alright with me.

I am not actually used to when people are watching me while I am eating. Especially if I know that they are already hungry. I always ask our servants to join me whenever I am late to eat. They already did hard work all day so I know that they are already starving.

All of them looked hesitant to sit down but they still did so we all ate together. They started talking about their day while I looked at them all and I could see that they were happy here as if Wade didn't pacify their packs.

“Can I ask something?" I caught their attention and they are now looking at me.

They are waiting for me to ask what I was about to ask them and I actually feel nervous because I might offend them but I am really curious. All of them seem to be comfortable here which is confusing for me because I know what he did.

“I hope you won't get offended but Wade killed your packs, right?" I asked.

All of them nodded their heads and no one seemed to be offended by my question. I waited for them to tell me more and I am glad that Sofia answered without any hesitations.

“Yes but not for his own gain. He actually helped us with our abusing packs." She said happily and proudly. “He told us that we can just leave on our because he knew that it would be hard for us to trust anyone anymore but we chose to come with him since we know that he would make sure that we were going to be safe."

I am surprised about what they have said because I am actually expecting for them to say the complete opposite. I really thought that Wade was just acting and making up some stories that he saved these people from their packs for him to look like a savior but I was wrong. These people are even smiling as if they are proud of him.

“So he really did save you?" I asked.

Sofia nodded her head.

“Yes, I thought I was going to die there but I found hope." She said.

“Are you telling me that all packs are abusing?" I asked.

Sofia laughed at my question.

“That is not what we are saying since I have visited a pack before. It is so nice that our alpha did his best to make us all quiet from asking for help. It depends on the alpha of the pack because they are the ones who are in control." She explained.

So there is really a pack like that. They are acting more like a rogue than these people and I suddenly felt bad to know that they have experienced a lot of things that they don't deserve.

“Don't feel so bad for us, Miss Mia. We are happy now that we are saved from those people." Sofia said with a smile on her lips.

I just nodded my head at her.

After eating dinner, I just rest for a bit by talking to them and they are all really fun to hang out with. They are talkative and they even trust me on who they have a crush on since half of them don't have a mate yet. All of them squealed when I told them that Wade is my mate that is why he took me. Only Sofia knew about it and I can already tell that she can keep a secret since no one even knew about it. They said that they all wished that he was their mate and I was lucky but I don't think I am lucky. That man is still the one who abducted me and I still hate him for that. It will never change.

I went to the library to find something to read and it was so quiet. There are some candles too so I lit one of them because the only light there is coming from the moon.

“What to read?" I asked myself.

I went around but something fell on the ground. It is some books that made me shiver. The wind is also cold and it is making me think of a lot of scary things since this place is a castle. I always believed that there were ghosts in castles like this because that is what Joshua told me.

“Is anyone there?" I asked.

I am trying my best to be brave because the ghost might think that I am already scared and might scare me even more. I know that I am already an adult to believe these things but there are a lot of things that we don't know exist so I am going to take any chances.

“Show yourself!" I yelled.

I am really going to run if a ghost shows himself rather than a person.

There is a shadow of a person who got out of the darkness which made all my body hair stand up. I don't know yet if I should start running or just wait to see if it is a person.

“Wade?!" I am surprised that it was just him who was hiding in the dark. “What the hell are you doing here? Are you stalking me?"

Wade raised his eyebrow which made me realize that this is his castle so he has every right to be here. He should be the one asking me the question and not the other way around.

“It's because I own this place?" He answered in a question form. “I am always here whenever I can't sleep and here you are walking around so loudly."

I just rolled my eyes at him because I know that I am not noisy.

“I am just here to find something to read since I am starting to get bored," I said.

Ignoring him, I look around to see if I can see anything interesting to read and I decided to take more than one book so I don't need to come here always because now I know that he always hangs out here too. I don't want to see him here.

There are a lot of interesting books and I put them aside so I will know that they are the ones that I am going to bring to my room. I can also feel Wade's gaze on me as I walk around the library but I just did my best to ignore him because I am not in the mood to argue with him.

“I'm sorry again for what I did." He suddenly said which made me stop midway to look at him.

My eyes are already adjusting me from the darkness and I can see clearly that he is staring at me which is awkward. He is still in the dark as if he is a beast from a cartoon princess who is trying to hide his form.

“I really have a bad temper and I admit it." He said. “Just don't ever say bad things about the people here because they are not what you think they are. You can judge me and call me names all you want because I already know that I am what you call me. Deborah already told me that I have become what I hated the most, a killer but I am not regretting it since I have saved these people."

I don't know what to say anymore.

“I just want them to feel free.” He added.

He sounds so sincere.

“If you want everyone to feel free then let me go back with my parents," I said confidently which made him growl.

I already knew that he was just going to get mad if I tried to convince him to bring me back to my parents but I still said it. All I want is to see them.

Wade sighed.

“I am not going to give you back to them but I am going to let you visit them." He said. “But I am going with you and we will let them know that they can't try to kill me when we are there."

I looked at him in surprise but nodded my head to agree.

After a week, we are now on our way to my pack and I am very excited to arrive there because I missed my parents. It's been weeks since I saw them after getting abducted but now I will see them again.

We arrived there quickly. My father, brother, and mother were the ones who were waiting for us at the gate. Mom hugged me tightly and I could feel how much she missed me so I hugged her back. It feels so good to be back here.

I went to look at my father and Wade, they were looking at each other as if they were about to kill each other. They are just doing their best to control themselves.

I just hope that this won't be a chaotic visit.
