CONNOR'S POV As I watcher Annette step into the room, I wasn't expecting everything to be the same. She sure wasn't obligated to pretend it will be. If she wanted to walk away from the contract at this point, I would have no reason to stop her. I just couldn't let her go because she was now my responsibility. Because of me, I'd put her in harm's way. Twice. I walked into my own master bedroom and changed into warmer clothes.
