The Morning After

We sat around the table in the conference room. Mom, Dad, Me and Gavin were sitting on one side of the table. Katie and Matt, Alex and Chelsea, Conner and Mandy were sitting across from us. Gavin stood and addressed the room, “Seeing as we are all open to any decisions that are chosen, I think that Luna Katie should start, it is her pack’s fate that we are here to discuss.” Gavin sat back down and nodded his head. Katie stood and glanced down at Matt before she began. She cleared her throat, “I have thought long and hard about this. After my Alpha Troy passed 5 years ago, I led my pack to the best of my abilities. There was no way that I was going to give up on my people, even though it was the toughest time of my life. I never thought that I would be offered an option to relinquish my power, so when the circumstances arose, I seriously thought about it.” Then she paused and reached her hand down to Matt, he was smiling up at her, completely entranced. “Now that I have found Matt,  I am certain that we can rebuild Opal Moon and emerge stronger than ever.” She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. “Although we deeply appreciate your hospitality and generosity, Matt and I have come to the decision to decline. We will be taking the remainder of Opal moon home with us at the end of this week.” That’s when she opened her eyes to look at each of us, “On behalf of myself and my entire pack I want tell you how extremely thankful we are for both the Blue Moon and Silver Moon packs. This decision was not easy to make but for most of my people, Opal Moon is their home, it’s the only place they know. I know that there is always a chance for more danger, but I can say with confidence that with Matthew Steven Schmidt, the love of my life and my Alpha that we can face anything that comes our way.”

I scanned the table looking for reactions from the men, they were all in deep thought. Gavin stood, “And are you sure of this decision?” Katie gulped and nodded confidently, “Then I only have one thing to say… I respect your decision and just know that if you and Opal Moon need anything, we are only just an hour away.” All the tension was sucked out of the room when Katie smiled gleefully. Silver Moon will always have a special place in my heart.”

I know that your mother and I raised you right, I can confidently saw that we have raised four pretty incredible people.” My mother had tears in her eyes and I could feel the amount of love that poured out of dad’s words. There were going to be some tearful goodbyes when they left.

After My parents and Noni left, Conner, Matt, Gavin and I were sitting in the living room shootin’ the s**t. I’m sad to be leaving you Stells, but at least were only and hour apart. I think we’ll still be close enough to link.” I shrugged my shoulders, “We’ll have to try when you and Katie get back. Oh by the way, we need to link her in from now on.” Matt nodded in agreement. I turned my attention to Conner.

“I see you and Mandy didn’t leave with mom and dad. Is there something you want to tell us?” I said with a c****d eyebrow. Conner was still smiling like a goof. “Well, Mandy and I talked about it. She wanted to go back to Opal but I told her that I couldn’t leave my baby sister. She agreed, she is actually quite taken with you. It was an easy decision for her when I reminded her that we would only be an hour away. After careful consideration, we’ve decided to stay here with you guys. If that’s okay?”

Conner looked at me and waited for the light bulb. Judge?” he looked over at Matt, “Judge rules… no violation.” I stuck my tongue out at Conner. I saw Gavin roll his eyes and pat his lap, “okay Conner give me my Luna back.” I pushed off of Conner and skipped over and sat in Gavin’s lap. The rest of the day seemed to fly by. Gavin was holed up in his office for most of the day, Conner and Matt were with their mates, so that left Kevin. I decided to link him,
