*Jade POV*
"Dad, what are you doing? Send them away. You are the Mafia King. You can find out whatever you need without them. They can't be trusted." I strained out.
"Sweetheart, the deal has been made, and my decision is final. What better tool to have than to have the enemy in the palm of my hands?" My dad said with smug satisfaction.
"But what about me? Can't you understand what I am going through?" I sniffled. "Baby girl, listen, I know it's hard, but this is the best way. Please trust me." My dad said softly as he groaned with pain.
"Where the fûck is George? We all need to be treated and looked at. I want to make sure everyone is alright." My grandfather, Landon, snapped with frustration.
I looked around and noticed that Uncle Tommy was gripping his side. I tried to get up but instantly felt dizzy. "Please don't move, Princess. You'll hurt yourself more." Caine said with concern.
I snapped my head up and narrowed my eyes at him. "You don't get a say in what happens to me. Either of you. Stay out of my business and my life." I growled viciously.
I watched as both Bryson and Caine gritted their teeth and clenched their fists by their sides. They were pîssed by my words. Good. They deserved it. My family could have died because of them.
"I think I agree with Jade, Anders. We should get rid of these two. We can do so much better without them. Let me and Carly take care of them. I haven't hardly had the time to kill anyone lately. It's depressing. I should call Dean and have him help." My grandmother, Krista said smiling mischievously.
"Baby girl, don't even get started." My grandfather said, shaking his head in disbelief. "What? Why are you looking at me like that? Landon Kingston, don't get me started on you. I have my ways to change your mind." She said, chuckling darkly.
He tensed and looked over at my dad and then Uncle Tommy. "Look what you both started." He scoffed.
They just shook their heads and laughed. It must be some kind of inside joke.
After a while, I heard a knock on the front door. None of us could really move, but I still tried. "Jade, sit your âss down before you hurt yourself. Caine is right. Bryson, go answer the door." My dad said sternly.
My eyes widened with shock and then narrowed with anger. I didn't say anything, but my fists were clenched so tightly that they were turning white. "You're going to be on her shît list for a while, Anders. How could you say something like that knowing how she feels?" My mother snapped at him.
Bryson got up hesitantly, "Yes, sir," and then headed for the door.
"Bunny, I suggest you keep your comments to yourself at the moment. You are already at the top of my shît list. Don't add on to it." he growled angrily. "What? What the fûck did I do?" she says hesitantly.
My dad looked over at her and glared at her. "Did you think I wouldn't find out about you making a deal with our daughter to help her sneak out tonight? Hmm. Oh, wait, let me guess, it slipped your mind, right?"
My mother inhaled sharply and looked at me accusingly. I lifted my arms in surrender and shook my head in denial. "I didn't say anything, Mama. I swear it."
"No one said anything. I overheard it on the surveillance videos we went through earlier." My dad growled. My mom looked down and gulped loudly.
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, Dad, I had already decided not to do it. There was no point because you were going to talk to me about trying to skip out on Gene and Don earlier from school." I said with frustration.
"Oh, that's right. I did, didn't I?" he said, shaking his head softly, "I had forgotten about that. Thanks for reminding me."
Dâmmit. Me and my big mouth.
"Sir, this man said he works for you, but he forgot his keys earlier," Bryson said sternly.
I looked up and noticed it was George.
"Yes, that's our doctor. Let him through Bryson." My dad said calmly. George rushed over and looked around the living room. "Anders, what the hêll happened here?" George said firmly as he began pulling things out of his doctor's bag.
"There was an explosion in my office, George. We all were injured, but thankfully, those two young men over there came and carried us out here so that we would be taken care of and treated." My dad said softly.
Wait... what did he just say? Bryson and Caine came here to help us? I must have heard my dad wrong.
"Dad?" I asked hesitantly as I looked at Bryson and Caine, then back to my dad.
"It's the truth, sweetheart. If they didn't come when they did, I don't know what would have happened to any of us." My dad said with a pained voice as he looked over at me.
I looked over at Bryson and Caine again, "T-Thank you." I said emotionally, but then turned away and laid my head on my mom's shoulder.
"You're welcome, Princess, but it isn't necessary. We would do it again in a heartbeat if it meant everyone was going to be safe. It was the right thing to do." Bryson said roughly. George cleared his throat.
"I hate to break this up, but I really need to check over the family and make sure the injuries are treated. I need to go get a few more things, and I don't have enough arms. I will need some help carrying things. Can I use those two to help me since everyone else is incapacitated, Anders?" George said calmly.
"Yes, that's fine. Just hurry up. Uncle Tommy doesn't look like he is doing the best. He was the closest when the explosion went off." My dad said sternly.
"Anders... I'm fine." Uncle Tommy strained out. "No, you need to be treated as soon as possible, and Jade too. The rest of us aren't as battered up as you two are. Aunt Emma would have my head if anything happened to you. Also, please check on Jackson once everyone has been treated. I want to know how my husband is doing." My dad said firmly.
Uncle Tommy just huffed out with frustration and sat down next to my grandfather. "He's stubborn just like you, Landon." Uncle Tommy whispered close to my grandfather's ear, but he really wasn't being quiet when he said it.
My grandfather chuckled under his breath and shook his head with amusement. "It runs in the family, brother."

*Caine POV*
"Please follow me, gentlemen." George, the doctor said. I got up, glanced over at Jade, and then followed him and Bryson to wherever he was leading us.
After a couple of minutes, he motioned toward a room, as he opened it up. We went inside and helped him grab everything he told us to take. By the time we were done, we had bandages, gauze, a few syringes with pain medications, and a few with antibiotics. Our hands were full.
We walked back out to where Jade's family was, and we set everything down where George directed us to. He got to work fast and occasionally would ask Bryson or me to hand him something or to hold something while he stitched someone up.
Once everyone was treated, George blew out a shaky breath and wiped the sweat from his brow. "I'm getting too dâmn old for this shît. I need to work on finding a replacement soon. I'm going to check on Jackson. I'll be right back."
He got up to leave. "Can I go with you? I want to see my Daddy," Jade said with a slight quiver.
"Sweetheart, you really need to rest. George will tell us if he is awake. He is going to be fine. Please go rest." Jade's mother said calmly, but I could hear the trembling in her voice. She was scared just like Jade, but she was trying to stay strong for her family.
"I won't be able to rest until I see him. I have to apologize. I have to know he is okay. Please, Mama." She sniffled softly and then wiped the tears with the back of her hand.
"Fine, but take Caine with you. He can help you so you don't hurt yourself. I have things to discuss with Bryson and then your mother and I will join you afterward." Anders said sternly.
Jade opened her mouth to argue, but Anders shook his head. "Don't even go there Jade, either do as I ask, or don't go at all. There is too much shît going on. I want someone to go with you." Jade growled and then stomped her foot, "Fine, but I don't like this one bit."
Anders then looked at me, "I still don't trust you. Trust is earned here not given freely. I have cameras everywhere. I will know if you try anything."
"I wouldn't even dream of it, sir. Your daughter is safe with me. I swear my life on it." I said firmly. I cautiously walked over to Jade and helped her up. I wrapped her hand around my shoulder slowly. She tensed and then cursed under her breath. "Wipe that goddâmn smirk off your face Caine. I know your guys' game. I am on to you. Well, guess what âsshole? I love playing games. Game on..." she whispered with a fierceness.
My shoulders shook as I chuckled lightly.
"We love games too, Princess, and we aim to win. The grand prize is worth more to us than all the money or revenge in the world. You." I whispered close to her ear and felt her shiver from my closeness.
She inhaled sharply and then tensed. She looked straight ahead and tried with everything she had not to look in my direction, but I knew she was watching me.
Good.
She needed to know we were serious.
Game on, Princess.
Game on.
