*Bryson POV*
I couldn't believe what my father did. He didn't even give me a chance to prove myself, he just took over like he always did.
The thought of Jade being gone forever made my insides clench with pain. I didn't want to lose her. She was... everything.
"Let's go," I growled viciously. Caine looked at me and just shook his head with frustration. "She took our SUV, bro. How are we going to get there? That piece of shît car in the back won't get us but a few miles up the road, Bry. She is over fifty miles away." Caine said with exasperation.
I still could not believe that she got away from us. She was a clever woman. She thought fast and didn't even give us time to think. We had been so lost in our heads with lust that rational thinking had gone out the window.
My chest filled with pride for her. She was definitely going to give us a ride for our money. I frowned at that thought. If she was still... alive. She had to be dammit. She just had to be.
"I don't care what we have to do, but we need to get there fast," I said with frustration.
Caine huffed with annoyance but nodded his head. We hurriedly got dressed and found a way to get the old car working within a few minutes. We started driving as fast as we could when my eyes widened with excitement.
Our SUV was sitting on the side of the road. I exchanged glances with Caine and his mouth opened with shock. "I'll be dâmned. She left it. It's a goddâmn sign, bro." I pulled up behind the SUV and ran over to it as fast as I could. Caine wasn't far behind. I got in and thanked whatever God there was that the keys were still in the ignition.
Caine slammed the door and waited. I turned the key and the SUV revved to life. "Let's go get our princess," I said with determination. Caine gave me a fist pump and then we were off.
The road to her house was at least two hours from where we were, but I made it in less time than you think. Thirty minutes and I pulled up into her father's driveway.
I turned off the ignition and looked at Caine. "You know what this means, right?" He just gulped loudly and nodded his head, "Yeah, Bry. If they are alive, we will either die or be tortured brutally, not to mention, it will mean that we will be on their side and not your father's. He will come for us, Bry, and it won't be pretty. Your father will probably torture us more than he did while training us all those years."
We nodded our heads with mutual respect and then took off running inside the house. "JADE. WHERE ARE YOU?" I screamed frantically. I couldn't see anyone let alone hear anyone, but I smelled smoke and followed it.
Caine followed close behind and when I saw the door that was blown away. I felt my anger and fear rise even more. We rushed inside and I saw bodies everywhere. I saw Jade lying down by the wall. She was slumped over on her stomach and her clothes were singed from the explosion.
Caine and I dropped next to her and I gently nudged her body. "Princess? Please tell me your okay?" I whispered painfully. She was still silent, so I placed my finger on her neck to see if I could feel a pulse. Caine was holding her other hand and gently running his thumb over her knuckles.
I heard a moan coming from across the room and as hard as it was to leave Jade, I had to make sure her family was okay. I rushed over and knelt, only to come face-to-face with her father, Anders.
The look of recognition on his face told me that I was in deep shît. "Get the... fûck out of my house... motherfûcker," he growled out painfully.
"Look, I didn't know my father was going to do this. It wasn't part of the plan. I'm... sorry." I said with remorse, " I have come to help, even knowing the consequences. All that matters is that everyone survives. Please let me help." I strained out.
He gave me a dangerous look but gave me a curt nod. I helped him up and then moved him out of the room with Caine following behind with Jade. We rushed and brought everyone out as fast as we could. By the time we were done, everyone, but Jade was awake and groaning with pain. She was still unconscious with her head on her mother's lap.
I wanted to hold her close and let her know I was there for her, but I knew they wouldn't let me or Caine near her at the moment
"What the fûck are they doing here, Anders?" growled Anders's father, Landon Kingston.
"They came here and helped get us out of the room his father blew up. I am still contemplating what to do with them both," Anders said with a cold tone, "I am still trying to figure out their angle."
"I already told you in there. This wasn't part of my father's plan. He wasn't supposed to kill you yet. Things were supposed to be known first and dealt with before he personally came and killed you all. Mine and Caine's mission was to ruin your daughter and kill her, but... but... we... couldn't go through with it," I forced out and then exchanged glances with Caine. He nodded his head urging me to continue, "She became too important to us. Her family is everything to her, so I came to help, knowing that it might be the last thing I do because as long she is happy that is all that matters at the moment."
Everyone in that room stared at us with narrowed gazes and clenched fists. My heart was beating erratically and I sat there on the ground waiting for whatever was going to happen.
"You love my daughter?" Anders said sternly. I took a deep breath and nodded my head. "Yes, sir. We both do."
"If that is true then you will do everything in your power to help me catch your father. You need to tell me everything about Jim. I need to know who the fûck I am dealing with and what he meant when he said that my father lost him his only true love." he said dangerously low.
"He didn't lose my mother. She is still alive." I said with confusion. "He said the woman he lost was someone he loved more than his current wife. He said that the woman he lost was the love of his life." Anders growls with frustration but also winces with pain.
"You're lying. He... would never say something like that." I said hesitantly. Tommy Branson pulled something out of his pocket and I noticed it was his phone. He pushed play and I listened to everything my father told Anders.
The anger in me rose to dangerous levels. He lied to me. To Caine. Jade was right. She said that something didn't sound right. I gulped inwardly and dropped my head with shame and embarrassment. Everything in my life was a lie.
What had I done?
A soft groan from across the room consumed everyone's attention. I watched with relief as Jade blinked her eyes and opened them. She whimpered painfully and then her eyes landed on mine. They widened with shock.
"B-Bryson? C-Caine? W- What are you doing here?" She gasped and looked around the room, "The explosion. H-How could you?" She growled viciously.
"I d-didn't know, Princess. I swear." I whispered roughly. "You're lying," she cried in outrage, "I hate you. You almost killed me and my family. I FÛCKING HATE YOU."
I flinched from the venom in her voice. "He's not lying, baby. We didn't know his father was going to do that. You have to believe us." Caine said desperately.
"I will never ever believe you. I don't want to see your faces ever again." she sobbed as her mother held her close.
My heart clenched painfully and I felt wetness falling from my face. More tears. Tears that I had never shed in my life, but now that Jade was in my life, I couldn't get them to stop.
What is she doing to me?
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists. I was determined to win her back. I noticed Caine from the corner of my eye and he was slumped over with defeat. He was in pain just like me from her words.
We would do anything to make her believe us, even if it meant agreeing to the terms of her father.
I looked over at him as he scrutinized me with a glare. "You have yourself a deal, sir. We will do whatever it takes." I said with a fierceness, then stared in the direction of Jade. She tensed but just stuck her nose up in the air and looked away from us, but not before I noticed the soft gulp in her throat.
She was still in there. We would win her back, no matter what it cost us.
"Excellent." Anders said with a cold tone.
