Chapter Seventeen... A Rage As Strong As A Fire

1655 Words
*Jade POV* Several hours have passed and I lie here in between Bryson and Caine looking up at the ceiling. My mind won't stop thinking about earlier with what Bryson had to go through. I still don't understand how his father could do something so vile. I turned over and looked at Bryson while he was sleeping. I ran my fingers over his face softly so I don't wake him up. His eyes are swollen and slightly puffy. To see him so vulnerable tugs somewhere deep inside of me. I feel like something is coming to life inside of me. Something violent. It twists and turns throughout my body engulfing me in flames. I move my fingers away from Bryson's face and clench them tightly against my chest. I close my eyes and take a deep breath trying to let it out slowly. The anger courses through me until all I see is red. I want revenge for Bryson. He is mine to protect and like a mama bear is for her cub, I will protect my man just as viciously. I very carefully slide down the bed so that I don't wake either of my men. They need to rest. We still have a long way to go before I fully trust them completely, but we will work on it together. They have a lot to make up for and I will make sure they do, but for now, I need some space from them. I was going to leave earlier, but I didn't have the heart to leave Bryson like that while he was awake. He needed me so I made sure I stayed with him until he fell asleep. Caine's presence kept me grounded and calm. I was glad I had him there with me as we comforted Bryson. I tiptoe across the floor and very quietly open the door. The guard on duty cranes his neck down and looks at me curiously. "Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you. I am going back to my room." I whispered softly. He just nodded his head and followed me there until I was at my door. I was just about to open the door when George stopped me. "Jade, I really need to talk to you about your father, Jackson. Do you have a few minutes?" The guard turned around and stood next to me watching George closely. What in the world? "Yes, of course, what is going on with my daddy?" I said with concern. "Can I talk to you privately? I don't really want to tell all of his personal information with all the guards around." George said nervously. I noticed sweat forming on his brow and he kept twisting his hands in front of his stomach. Was the news that bad? My heart clenched painfully just thinking something was wrong with my daddy. "Excuse me, Miss Jade, but unfortunately that won't be a possibility." The guard said firmly. "What? Why?" I protested. "It is your father's order. No one is to be alone with the doctor. He knows this already. Isn't that right, Doctor?" The guard says with a dangerous tone. George scoffs and then grits his teeth angrily. "I have worked for this family for a very long time. This is complete and utter bûllshit. I deserve more respect than this." He spits out and then stomps away angrily. "What the fûck was that?" I growled viciously. The guard looks around until he doesn't see George any longer. "Your parents believe that George is working for Bryson's father. If that's true, then you were walking into a trap. My job is to protect you and I won't let that happen." The guard says firmly. George is a spy? H-How can that be? Suddenly my stomach churns and I run to the bathroom adjacent to my room. I fling the door open and spew out the bile that is rising in my stomach just in time into the toilet. George has been taking care of my family all these years. How could he betray us like this? I wipe my mouth and then quickly rinse my mouth out with mouthwash. I turn towards the guard and place my finger on his chest. "Take me to my parents. I need to see them right away." He just nods his head and leads me to my parent's room. I knocked on the door and waited for a response. "Yes?" My father, Anders, says with frustration. "Dad? Can I please come in and speak to you?" I say hesitantly. "Yes, sweetheart, come in. Just give us a few minutes." He said with annoyance. I just chuckled with amusement. They were probably doing... EWW. What the hêll is wrong with me? Was I seriously going to say what I thought I was about to say? GAG! They are my parents for fûcks sake. I waited a few minutes until I heard my dad's voice. "Come in." I shook those disturbing thoughts away and opened the door. All three of them were sitting on the bed with some type of clothing on, but their hair was in complete disarray. I winced. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt anything," I said softly. "It's fine sweetie. What's wrong?" My mom says with concern etched on her face. "Is it true about George?" My dad looks over at the guard and narrows his eyes at him. The guard looks down and quickly leaves the room closing the door behind him. "Yes, but how did you find out already? We were planning on telling you in the morning." My dad, Anders said sternly. "I... umm... was leaving from Bryson's room, and George stopped me. He wanted to talk to me privately about Daddy." I said as I stumbled over my words. "First off, why were you in Bryson's room?" My Daddy says growling with frustration. "Well, I woke up and felt like something was wrong, so I left my room and walked down the hall. I heard sobbing coming from his room. I wanted to know why and that's when I found out what happened tonight. I didn't want him to be alone. I wanted him to know that I was there for him. Then Caine came in and we just tried to comfort Bryson and calm him down. He needed that support from us. Once they both fell asleep, I left the room. That's when George approached me, but the guard stopped him and told me it wasn't permitted." I said with frustration and confusion. My daddy just looked at me sternly and then grumbled under his breath. "OH MY GOD! I'm still a virgin, okay!" I shrieked out with embarrassment as my face turned bright red. My mom turned towards my daddy and smacked him upside the head. "Really, honey? Is that all you got out of that conversation?" She said exasperated. He rubbed the back of his head grumbling and pouting the biggest pout I had ever seen before. "WHAT? She's my daughter! What do you expect from me? For fûcks sake, you know how protective I am of her." He says with a firm tone. I fought really hard to hide the smirk that was forcing its way into my mouth. My daddy was so overprotective when it came to me. "Baby girl, Bryson mentioned something about possibly seeing George before, while he was growing up. So we are trying to keep a close eye on him. Please don't go anywhere near that motherfûcker until we take care of him. I am currently looking for a new doctor, but it is harder than it looks. Bringing in someone new is hard. There is no trust. I don't know if they will betray our family. My job is hard, Jade. Harder than most have." My dad, Anders said with a calm tone, but I knew he was feeling like I was feeling inside. A raging fire just waiting to burst free. I nodded my head in understanding. "I know, Dad. I promise to obey your request." I looked over to my daddy, Jackson, with concern. "Daddy, are you okay? He was alone with you for a while. I am really worried about you. Maybe we should have you checked and tested somewhere that is safe." I said sternly. "My little Gem, I will be okay. I am a fighter, I promise." He said with a small smile, but I could sense he was trying to hide something. I rushed over to hug him when he suddenly started coughing violently and gasping for air. He groaned painfully as he clutched his stomach. I stood frozen in fear as I watched my daddy. My mom and dad rushed to his side and tried to help, but it wasn't helping at all. Without thinking my feet moved on their own as I rushed to the door. I flung it open and looked right at the guards standing there. "WHAT ARE STANDING AROUND FOR? GET MY DADDY, NOW." I yelled angrily. They rushed inside and grabbed my daddy. I narrowed my eyes at my parents. "Don't you dare say a word. He's going with me and that's final. If you want to come, fine, if not, then stay here until we call, but I won't let my daddy die just because some sick son of a bîtch wants to hurt my family." I snapped impatiently. "Take the lead baby girl. We are right behind you." My dad, Anders, says with a smirk, but I could sense a hint of pride in his tone. I turned around and headed towards the guards and my daddy. "She reminds me of you Bunny. She's fierce and ready to defend her family. She doesn't take shît from no one, including us." My dad whispers proudly. "That's my daughter. She has my blood running through her veins. What did you expect?" My mom chuckled softly.
