Chapter 12: Case #2 Beast’s Den (2)

“He looks very excited... Aster only felt ill after you possessed him... are you just bad at possessing people?” Ezikiel asked with a very serious expression on his face.
“Where did you get that from?!” Weiss asked in a very offended manner. “It’s not my fault he didn’t enjoy it! Am I responsible for his pleasure as well? Besides it depends on the person’s soul’s wavelength and how strong their mental state is, also-”
“You sound like a scorned man trying to defend his performance in bed...” Aster remarked as he walked into the kitchen. He stretched out his tired arms and ribbed at his half closed eyes, when he opened them completely he noticed the broken window. “I can see you’re all having fun.” He remarked with a rather indifferent face and the same cold voice he always used.
“Ugh... the temperature in the room suddenly dropped...” Weiss remarked, the second he saw Aster, he rolled his eyes as if he was annoyed. ‘This iceberg just had to walk in here...’ He thought to himself.
“Sir, did we wake you up? I’m so sorry...” Ezikiel was quick to apologize while approaching his boss. But the other didn’t seem to be bothered at all.
“No, it’s my fault for overstepping... I shouldn’t have drunk so much in front of you, I’ve acted rather shameful...” Aster brushed the palm of his hand against Ezikiel’s cheek. “I hope you can forgive me for this...”
“N-no sir there’s nothing to forgive... you didn’t act out of turn...” Ezikiel was quick to respond. ‘Gha... I feel like I might get a nosebleed... since when is the boss so hot?! I mean he’s always been attractive yet...’ Ezikiel looked at the man’s eyes that seemed to glimmer although the kitchen’s lamp was so faint. Then glanced down at his exposed skin, Aster’s loosened tie and unbuttoned shirt, with his unruly hair made him seem different than usual. ‘I don’t really know how to act around him anymore... besides everything he said to me while he was drunk... was it really...’ Ezikiel felt his mind was a mess.
“Are they flirting with each other?” Caleb asked while turning to Weiss then pointing to the two men with a certain level of indifference to his voice.
“Yeah...” Weiss nodded as a response. ‘I don’t know why these two annoy me so freaking much... just seeing this is...’ He thought to himself while his eyes drifted away, he didn’t want to look at them anymore.
“Do you want me to get rid of both of them?” Caleb asked as he showed his claws, yet still kept his human form.
“You could... I don’t really care.” Weiss said while gesturing dismissively to the man.
“Alright—!” At that Caleb was ready to jump at them again but was stopped.
“No, I was joking! Stay put! Bad dog!” Weiss yelled at him. Caleb followed the man’s orders and sat down. “...?” Weiss thought for a moment before he gave his next command. “Roll over...” And Caleb followed that order obediently. “Paw.” Weiss said and in the next moment Caleb gave his hand to the man like a dog following it’s master’s orders. “Good boy...” Weiss praised him, Caleb began wagging his tail.
“What’s their deal?” Aster asked as he moved his hand back, he began fixing his tie ever so casually.
“Ugh... I don’t really know...” Ezikiel admitted honestly. “Sir, about what happened earlier-” He was interrupted by the other’s calm voice.
“I think it’s about time I left...” Aster’s expression looked as cold as ever and his words were no less icy as the air around him. “What happened tonight... please forget about it. I don’t want you to think of me as such a shameless person.” With those words he headed out.
“.........?” Ezikiel was left baffled. ‘Does he really want me to forget that? Was it just because of his drunkness? But... it was as if he almost confessed to me...’ He thought back to himself at his boss’s expression and words they all sounded so genuine yet he couldn’t tell if it was just the alcohol speaking for him.
“Good riddance! He finally left. He only causes trouble for you anyways!” Weiss said as he approached Ezikiel and placed his ghostly hand on the man’s shoulder. “It’s best not to allow him to come to your home on non work related matters, I can’t imagine what your colleagues will think if they hear...” He explained.
“Yeah...” Ezikiel agreed although the expression he had on his face would suggest he wasn’t quite alright with the turn of events.
‘He really likes that guy... what bad taste...’ Weiss thought to himself as he glanced back at the werewolf. “Now can we get back to the big hairy problem back there?” He asked, Ezikiel also turned around the expression on his face turning cold suddenly.
“I’m going to be leaving now, since I’m not needed...” Caleb said as he headed for the door but before he could take even a few steps it was Ezikiel who grabbed him by the shoulder and stopped him.
“Where do you think you’re going? You broke down my window, how do you plan on paying for it?” Ezikiel asked with a threatening tone that he used only a few times until now, in that moment you could almost feel killing intent behind those clear pupils.
‘Geez... he really likes money, doesn’t he?’ Weiss thought to himself as he sat on the kitchen counter and watched the show.
“I... wasn’t actually... Since I was planning on killing you and all, so um... let’s say our debt is settled because you’re alive? I mean you could definitely overlook a broken window, right?” Caleb sounded more reasonable than ever at that moment, you might actually forget he was a werewolf if it hadn’t been for the tail and animal ears...
“As if I’d overlook that... Do you know how expensive windows are?” Ezikiel asked while pulling the werewolf through the back entrance and into the garden. “If you want to repay your debt you can start by digging the entire garden and planting flowers. You could also shape the flower beds in some nice way... Also there are a few trees you should cut up and we’ll use the wood for the fireplace.” He explained ever so casually while appointing the tasks.
“Ahh! Free labor, that’s really good! Only a veteran capitalist like yourself would think of that!” Weiss praised the man as he moved closer. “Haha, who would have thought we’d get a Gardner like this! How much is his wage doing to be an hour?” He asked with great interest.
“Minimum wage of course.” Ezikiel said with certainty in his voice. “And based on my calculations you should be able to work up your debt in about a month. So get on it. All the equipment you need is in the shed and if there’s anything ask Weiss.” He said while turning his back to the man and leaving.
“Did that really happen?” Caleb asked as he stared dumbfounded at Weiss. “Did that human just force me to work for him? Is he making fun of me?” He asked, question marks forming around his face.
“Unfortunately... that guy is super serious when it comes to money... I wouldn’t mess with him...” Weiss said as he shrugged his shoulders and flew over the warewolf’s head. “Look on the bright side~ He’ll probably feed you while you’re here, he’s not a horrible guy... not completely at least... rather pragmatic at most...”
“This...” Caleb looked at the large garden that looked like it hadn’t been touched in many years. He was starting to regret his decision to go to that mansion in the first place...
