Chapter 13: Case #3 Significance of Genuine Affection (1)

“Lately…” Weiss’s eyes followed Ezikiel who seemed to be in a very irritated mood. “Don’t you think he’s been acting a bit off?” He asked while leaning to whisper into the werewolf’s ear, then turning back to glance through the window where they had a more or less good view of the two men inside the living room. Of course the position they were in, it was difficult for those inside to notice they were being watched.
“Yeah, it’s like there’s this large stormy cloud hanging over his head for some reason…” Caleb nodded his head in agreement. “But it doesn’t make sense… isn’t big Boss acting very affectionate towards him? Why would that put him in a bad mood?” He questioned as his ears slumped.
“I don’t really know…” Weiss replied as he watched the scene unfolding in front of him. ‘It was a week that Ezikiel didn’t hear anything from Aster and then when he finally received the call… Aster started coming here every day for the past five days… and each time he would try to get close to Ezikiel… but he’s… Ezikiel is the one rejecting his advances…’ He thought to himself, looking completely bewildered as if he couldn’t understand what was going on inside Ezikiel’s head.
“Ezikiel… are you mad with me lately?” Aster asked while tilting his head to the side, the expression on his face was that of someone disappointed and a little bit hurt by the other’s obvious indifference. “If there’s anything I can do to fix it…” He asked with a sullen tone of voice, his eyes which previously looked so unfeeling were now showing more emotion than ever.
“Not at all.” Ezikiel gave a quick reply then continued working as per usual. He didn’t seem to care for the other man’s presence. If anything he seemed completely indifferent to him, if not slightly annoyed. “I am very busy and this isn’t helping me at all.” He continued in a calm and slightly less polite manner thatn the one he usually used to speak to the man with.
“Would it be better if I left you alone?” Aster asked with a pair of pleading eyes as he moved closer to the man as if begging him to reconsider. “If I leave… will that help you do your work better?” He asked while leaning over the documents spread out on the table, waiting to be reviewed, sighed, looked over or re-written…
“It would.” Ezikiel answered without hesitation, he didn’t bother turning around to even glance at the man. He simply continued working single mindedly as if there was nothing more important than the many tasks he was given to complete.
“What if…” Aster sat on top of the man’s desk and leaned closer to him for a kiss. “…I don’t want to leave you alone?” He whispered in a low and very seductive tone of voice which would usually make Ezikiel falter however this time he was unmoved by the other’s obvious advances and suggestive tone. “Come on, give me a kiss~” Aster urged him.
“I don’t feel like it.” Ezikiel said, it was a clear cut rejection as he moved his face away from the man, focusing on his work seemed more and more difficult given how persistent the man next to him was being.
“Seriously… I don’t understand what’s going on with him?!” Weiss couldn’t stop himself from exclaiming in anger. “They were all lovey dovey about two weeks ago… Ezikiel was making those expressions as if he was fallen in love and now… he won’t even look at the guy! What is this even!? What’s the point of playing hard to get when you obviously like the person!?” He asked while turning to the werewolf who didn’t seem to have an answer to the man’s pleas.
“Maybe he was never in love with him to begin with?” Caleb suggested as he casually continued cutting down the grass. He didn’t seem to mind this sudden change, although he too found it odd.
“That’s not possible! You saw them before…” Weiss argued, he knew there was something going on, something he couldn’t see or understand from a distance.
“Sure… but what if he was too scared to do anything else, big boss is his employer after all… It wouldn’t be too surprising if he held back on rejecting him because of it.” Caleb suggested, his tone wasn’t much too excited, he was obviously not as interested as Weiss was in the entire affair.
“So what do you gather is making him so uninterested right now?” Weiss asked while turning to look at the wolf working hard at the garden.
“Beats me… maybe he’s changing jobs or something?” Caleb suggested as he planted flowers in the flower bed. “There are many reasons why someone would act that way, I don’t think it’s as important as you are trying to make it out to be, alright? Can’t you just let them settle things on their own?” Caleb asked but he noticed the ghost was barely listening to him if at all. “Ezikiel might have just made a mistake by accepting the big boss’s advances and now he’s regretting his decision.” Caleb concluded simply.
“I doubt it…” Weiss focused his eyes on the couple once more. They could only see the two figures through the window but from their behaviors alone it was obvious Ezikiel was being the unresponsive one while Aster is aggressively pursuing him. “It can’t be that simple…”
“I think you’re only acting like that because Ezikiel isn’t paying attention to you.” Caleb said as he sighed heavily. “If only you could pay attention to me instead we wouldn’t have this problem…” He said with a dream like voice as if he was fantasizing about their future together. “Hey, Weiss, how about you possess me just this once? Huh? What do you say?” He asked with a rather impatient sounding voice.
“Dream on!” Weiss remarked as he crossed his arms and entered the house through the window without opening it. ‘It’s not like I hate the fact he’s finally rejecting this handsome doofus… just… the way he’s doing it seems so odd… as if…’ He couldn’t quite put a finger on it at that moment, moving closer the ghost decided to listen to their conversation.
“Ezikiel… I know I’m your boss and everything but… Don’t you think you’re being a bit too distant?” Aster asked as he leaned in move, touching the man’s shoulder gently while trying to force him to look his way, but it was pointless. Ezikiel didn’t utter a word to him.
“I don’t think I’ve wronged you but if I have…” Aster seemed desperate to make amends for whatever had happened but Ezikiel was still as silence as before.
“You know… my patience is starting to wear off…” Aster said with a less than pleasant sounding voice as he grabbed Ezikiel by the clothes, finally forcing him to look his way. “If you’re going to avoid me like this I have no choice but to force you a bit… it’s the only way you’ll realize just how much I love you.” He spoke in a desperate voice, filled with emotions, a mixture of depravity, sadness, lust and what’s more… anger…
“……….” Ezikiel once more, just as before gave no response. He didn’t even glance at the man nor acknowledge his actions in any way. He stood there with a black stare and a pair of dull eyes that looked even more indifferent than ever.
“Why are you rejecting me? You love me… that much is obvious, or are you not satisfied with my body anymore?” Aster asked as he pulled the man in for a kiss but was once more stopped midway.
Placing both his hands onto the man’s mouth, Ezikiel simply muttered. “Enough…” That commanding tone of voice was not something usual for him, yet he not only said it to his employer but also meant it, as those words were followed by his piercing eyes that had seemingly lost the light they once held, now they looked the doorway to Hell if there ever was one…
