Chapter 18: Football and Being NibbyHow Bobo and Magnum convince Jake, Soozie, and Sandy to bundle up in three layers of winter gear and meet in the front yard to play tackle football is beyond anything Jonah can comprehend. Jonah suspects that the five of them are high and have been taking numerous hits of Jake’s wacky-tobacky behind his back. To no avail, Team Frostbite (Magnum and Sandy) meet next to the mailbox, and Team Iceberg (Bobo, Jake, and Soozie) arrive seconds later. Bobo holds the football and a fierce, morning wind blows around his hulking frame. Within the next few moments a mismanaged game begins: catching the ball, tackling each other, running chaotically through the yard, acting like children, laughing and playing together.
