Jonah sees professionally wrapped Christmas presents sitting on a reading chair opposite him and guesses that the silver and gold gifts are for Mrs. Yori’s sisters. Although he doesn’t outright ask his host who they belong to, he does say, “The presents are wrapped nicely. The receivers will love them.”
“They will…will…will. Yedda loves silver, and Ynez is fond of gold. We’ll unwrap them first thing in the morning. My twin daisies, daisies, daisies are spending the night.” She takes a sip of her hot drink, swallows the concoction down. “Is it true that the two of you bubbles are getting married tomorrow?”
“It is true,” Sandy says, nodding. “And we can’t wait.”
