CHAPTER 05 : STRANGE PLACE

Fendice loudly groaned, turning to the one who's currently driving,

"Just where are we going?" Fendice asked.

He was caught on the man's word that he'll stop once he came to him but he had no idea where they're going.

"You'll see." Shawn answered while smiling looking ahead on the road.

Fendice twitched and just focused his gaze on the window. They already passed the City borders and he can visibly see the vast ocean by the side and he has still no idea where they're going.

He opened the car window just to let the sea breeze enter inside the car, making the mood lighter since he felt like dying just sitting together with this insane man.

Fendice was lazily leaning his head by the enclosed door gazing at the horizon where the sky and ocean meets, he's gazing in a constant manner until he felt irritated again and turned to glare at Shawn.

"Just where are we going?" for the nth time, he asked

Shawn finally spared a look at him and smiled seductively, "We're almost there."

And just far ahead, a high classic structure can be seen. It was plain but one can immediately realize that it's a tower, a light tower.

As they get closer, they saw that this structure was built by the cliff and the view was quite breathtaking even they're still a bit far from there.

The tower was built in a center of a concrete platform by the cliff and has steps on it.

They stopped the car in front of the platform and got off.

Fendice was the first one to got off and immediately walked forward towards the platform to observe the surrounding. The wind is quite violent since they're facing an open area, the ocean waves loudly splashing on the rocks below this cliff and the place is completely desolated from fellow humans.

The old and well preserved tower at the center had the strange structure, from the bottom, it was made by plain concrete that's almost covered by molds but at the top of this tower, the line of change starts since the materials and concrete in that place became quite cleaner and polished as if in that part, something is functional.

Fendice can't help but turn to Shawn who walked calmly towards him, his black long jacket fluttering by the wind and those strands of his hair wiping his forehead, making him look more handsome and sophisticated.

But Fendice didn't get any of it and marched towards him, complaining, "So this is the place?" he asked as if clarifying the current situation

Shawn happily smiled at him and nodded, "This is the initial."

Fendice can't help but to twitch, "So you're saying..."

Shawn stepped forward to say something ahead, "We'll spend our whole day here since we're skipping work."

He turned to Fendice, "Didn't you agree?" he took his hand to kiss his knuckles.

Fendice got the wave of disgust again and immediately took his hand away from the crazy man, "But you didn't told me that we'll be in a boring place. What are we gonna do here for the whole day?" he better be off trying the new game he brought or the anime DVD he bought online. What a waste of a skip!

He felt very irritated and since they're not in public nor in the Liu's, he can act like he wants.

But Shawn didn't minded it and pulled him towards the tower. "I heard that you're quite a geek even in your age. You should try appreciating outdoor activities."

"What do you know? And let go of me, I can walk on my own." he grumpily said and tried withdrawing his hand from Shawn's pull but the man didn't even flinched a bit and continued to lead the way.

Fendice struggled for a short while until he gave up, he felt his energy almost depleted just by walking. They entered the tower and saw the wooden spiral stair all the way through the top, it's format wasn't that complicated but it surely is old and classic.

Fendice can't help but to stare at it in utmost fright, he turned to Shawn, "We're not gonna climb that scary stair right?"

Shawn giggled, pulled him and kissed his ears. He did all these in a quick manner that Fendice haven't processed to protest, he whispered, "Outdoor activity my love."

Fendice just glared at him and tried to free himself again from him but he's just a nerdy home-pampered person, his energy had completely depleted by just walking and moving. And he needs to recharge by sleeping or playing games.

He felt that he was already being pulled by Shawn towards the stair, the man then spoke, "You're a man, how can you act like this?"

Fendice frowned at him but didn't spoke any longer because he felt that the more he speak, the more his stocked energy fades slowly.

Shawn's hand was holding Fendice's hand tight, leading him all the way the top of the tower. Every step they take on the stair was quite heavy since there's no sound that is present except for the loud violent splashes of waves at the bottom of the cliff. The natural odor of solid oak wood lingered all around the place that made it look more older, the walls of this plain tower is just made simply like that, nothing more but the thing that is quite intriguing is the top of the tower.

When they almost reached the top edge, Fendice saw a door that seemingly lead to the other dimension of this strange place.

He can't help but to stop and that made Shawn stop from walking too.

He immediately blurted, "Just where are we going? Really?" he asked. He already watched and read this kind of scenarios and this Shawn Liu isn't very good to trust so he needs to protect himself in the last minute before the crisis appear!

But Shawn suddenly chuckled lightly, seeing Fendice's frightened expression.

He uttered, "It's here. We're almost there."

"Just stick with me and you'll be fine." he added and finally changed the way he holds Fendice's hand, he interlocked his fingers on the gaps between Fendice's fingers, holding him more tighter.

"Let's go?"

Fendice didn't want to argue since his disgust was overwhelmed by the tension he's feeling on the other side of that door.

They took a few more steps before reaching the door and when Shawn opened it, there's no blinding light nor anything surprising.

Fendice can't help but to blurt in question, "A cafe?"

Shawn turned to him smiling, "Just what do you think it is?"

Fendice didn't answered since there are several selections of scenarios he had on his mind.

So the reason that the plain flow of the structure became different on top because there's an establishment! But who would dare to go such place for a drink here?

Upon entering, they were immediately welcomed by the strong aroma of branded coffees and cigarettes.

The floor was furnished with pure wood and the the place was enclosed without windows but it's filled with light breeze since the balcony facing the door was quite wide and giving off airs to all corners of the place.

The balcony was located at the rear side of the tower that's why Fendice didn't realized that it was actually an establishment just the top of this old light tower.

A few people drinking by the corners turned their head to look at the new comers.

"Good day Master Liu!" the young bartender greeted by the bar counter greeted.

Shawn nodded in respond, "I've come with someone."

Fendice who was a bit tensed from the stares of the people around, felt an arm wrapping around his waist and pulled him close.

"The f..."

He was dragged by Shawn towards a table

"I'll be taking the usual order and add the sweets you have there." he said as they passed by the counter.

"Copy that Master." the young bartender smilingly said

They reached Shawn's favorite corner where a semi-circular long couch is placed and infront of it was a wooden classical table.

Fendice finally felt that the arm holding him loosed it's grip on his waist and he immediately pulled away, brushing his clothes where he was touched by Shawn's arm.

Shawn was amused with his actions, "Even if I had germs, do you think it will taken off by just your hands?"

Fendice just glared at him and asked, "Where are we?"

His eyes wandered on the place and a few customers in count of about seven people was silently taking their leisure by their spots on the cafe. Some were middle aged, some looked like executives and some had unknown status because they're just wearing casual wears.

Fendice thought that it's something like high class cafe where rich and top people could only get in but he's already curious of what exactly is this place.

"If you're that curious why don't you sit first?" Shawn said

Fendice didn't want to listen to him but he truly is tired and need refreshment. He sat at the couch and find it so soft, his expression brightened by it, feeling immediate comfort from this spot.

"Master Liu, it's nice to see you again here." their head both turned to see a man, seemingly on his 30s with light make up on and was wearing a pastel colored suit.

He looks feminine by his lengthy hair that reaches his shoulders.

"Hello Saphire." Shawn greeted

This Saphire stretched his lips into a seductive smile, "It's been a while since you came with someone here." he said

Fendice didn't want to listen to them and had his eyes wander around the place but he can't help but to raise a brow upon hearing Saphire's statement.

Of course why not right? It's Shawn Liu!, he thought.

But he heard the man chuckle, "Don't joke around like that Saphire, I don't want to have my man misunderstand me."
