CHAPTER 14: What is happening

1185 Words
AUTHOR'S POV Amelia broke the silence of the room. "But what do you think is the reason why the potion is still not working even after all this time?" Her face was now filled with disappointment and confusion, and a hint of fear caused by knowing about Anthony's presence in the Black Moon pack. She had a lot of worries at the moment. They had remained in their positions for about an hour and a few minutes now. "I still don't know, Amelia. We just have to give it more time. Maybe it will work," Colton said, confusion still evident on his face. Amelia sighed. She was losing hope. Since the potion wasn’t working as she had expected, and it was late, she decided to sleep and forget her worries for now. She exhaled heavily. Amelia exhaled heavily. "Colton," she called out to him in a low tone and sighed again, "I want to sleep now. I'm feeling tired," she added, sighing once more. Colton nodded in understanding. He stood up and was about to leave the room. "I would love to bathe before I sleep. Can you get me a bucket of water?" Amelia said. Colton nodded again without saying anything. He left the room heartbroken, his mind filled with confusion about why the potion wasn’t working. He went to another room in his house, filled a bucket with water, and returned to Amelia's room a few minutes later, placing the bucket near the damaged bathroom door without glancing at her. He had never felt this confused and disappointed before in his entire life. He had believed that immediately after Amelia had drunk the potion, she would return to normal and immediately recognize him as her mate, which he is. But everything was not going as he had thought it would. Could it be because he was cursed? Could this be another way the Moon Goddess is punishing him for no crime he has done? Could it be that the witch was fake, or that the potion itself was fake? Colton had known Morganna for many years now, and she had never disappointed him with any task he had asked her to do in the past. It was obvious that Morgana was never fake, but why the potion was not working was what Colton never understood. "Here is the bucket of water you requested," Colton said, now taking his gaze to Amelia, who didn't reply. He noticed she was now laying on the bed. He walked from where he was standing to Amelia's side and noticed that Amelia had fallen asleep. He stood there, near her bedside, contemplating for a few seconds whether to wake her up or just leave her to sleep, since yesterday night and today had been tough for her. Finally, he concluded to wake her up, as she had told him before he left the room previously to go get the bucket of water and that she wanted to bathe before sleeping. He gently tapped her on her hand twice, and she opened her eyes halfway, then fully, after a brief delay. "I brought you the bucket of water." "Okay," Amelia said, still feeling sleepy. She slowly sat up and then stood up, remaining in her current position and yawning continuously. "Is there anything else you would want me to do for you?" Colton asked. Amelia shook her head in reply. She stood there, still yawning. "Good night," Colton added. He knew Amelia would need some privacy since she was about to bathe. Colton turned towards the door to leave and proceeded to do so. Amelia wanted to take the first step toward the bathroom, but weirdly, she couldn't. Her leg felt so strange to her. It felt so heavy that she couldn't lift it, not even with all her strength. In fact, it felt as though her legs were no longer hers. She attempted to move again but couldn't. This time, not only did her legs feel weirdly heavy, but she also immediately experienced a very painful headache, as though she had been hit on the head with a hammer. Amelia let out a scream of pain, which immediately prompted Colton, who was already at the door about to leave, to stop and turn in her direction. A wave of dizziness followed the headache, adding to her pain. She felt as if the room was spinning, along with everything in it. "What?" Colton asked with his deep voice from where he was standing, not yet understanding what was happening. Amelia didn't answer him. She didn't even understand what he had said, as his voice sounded very faint to her hearing. Immediately, she felt the urge to vomit and did so on the floor. Colton rushed to her side, but before he could reach her, she fainted. However, he was able to catch her, preventing her from hitting the floor. Colton immediately became scared, more than he had ever been in his life. Even the breath he exhaled at that moment was filled with fear. The last thing he would ever wish for was to lose his mate. He was scared more than you can ever imagine. This is a cursed Werewolf, who before now, all he thought of was to kill and feed on fellow werewolves, one who never feared to lose anything, but now afraid to lose the one precious thing to him - his mate. Colton gently laid her back on the bed, adrenaline running through his veins. "Amelia," he called to her, but she didn't respond, nor did she even move her body; she lay like a dead person. "Wake up, Amelia. Please wake up!" he continued, softly shaking her face. But she remained still, not even a twitch. "Is she dead?" Colton fearfully wondered. He placed the side of his face on Amelia's chest to listen to her heartbeat. He heard her heart beating, which showed that she was still alive. He left the bed and rushed to the side where he had kept the bucket of water, picked it up, and quickly returned to her side. He poured the water on her in an attempt to wake her up, but it still didn't work. She remained still. He even emptied the entire bucket on her, but she still lay like a lifeless person. He listened to her heartbeat again to confirm she was still alive, and he heard her heart beating. "What is going on? What is happening to her? Why has she fainted?" Colton wondered in his mind once again. A thought came to him, telling him that it was the potion reacting on her. He then suspected that the potion was beginning to act on her, but he was not sure. In fact, he wasn't convinced of that. His inner wolf still felt so worried and restless in him at that moment. But then, was it really the potion acting on her? Or was there something else happening to her? If this was a sign of the potion beginning to react in her, was it a good sign or a bad one?
