LAUREEN'S POV I stirred in my bed and realized that something was holding me captive, so I opened my eyes slowly to the morning light that filtered softly through the curtains. My body was still wrapped in the duvet from last night and in the lingering warmth of the night before. A slow, contented smile spread across my face as I stretched, allowing my mind to drift back to the tender, passionate moments of the night before which I had shared with Tristan. I felt a sense of peace I hadn’t known in a long time, a sense of belonging that made my heart flutter. I turned over in bed, expecting to find Tristan beside me, his presence as comforting as it had been during the night.
