Chapter 23: Little Dove

Zoe was vaguely aware of being on a helicopter as she rolled in and out of Consciousness.

“Akihiko will come for me!” She kept murmuring 

“It is all right lass, we have got you. Just try to stay still and let the burn patches do their work” A friendly male voice said with an English accent. Zoe felt her skin cool down as patches were applied and a sharp pain as a drip line was inserted.

“Akihiko? Mum? Dad?” Zoe called out in Japanese.

“Get Akihiko in here, she is not settling!” The male voice said.

Zoe was obviously delirious from lack of fluids and her injuries. Been trapped underground in a coffin for 16 hours also didn’t Help matters.

“Akihiko? Mum? Dad? Where are you? Help me, please?!” Zoe called again as she tried to get up.  Akihiko pulled back the curtain, his heart breaking at the sound of Zoe calling out for her dead parents. He went over and stood by her side and put his hand on her forehead.

“Shhhh my little dragon, I am here” Akihiko said in a soothing tone.

“Akihiko? You need to go, Benny will find you” Zoe murmured 

“It is OK, you are safe. He wouldn’t touch you again, I promise” Akihiko said and Zoe went under again.

“Wow, talk about being a love sick puppy!” Ethan remarked drawing back the curtain.

Akihiko glared at Ethan “what do you want?”

“I was just here to check on her safety. You know making sure you are not branding her or some other sick s**t” Aiden snipped. That was the last thing Theo heard before seeing the Twins being thrown across the helicopter loading bay. 

Akihiko walked over and with a murderous glare whilst saying “ How dare you talk to me in that manner in front of my Empress! I would never hurt Zoe, understand?” Akihiko roared

“Your Empress?? You are not even engaged yet!” Andrew shouted back

“I warned you already to stay away from her! It is me she is calling for, not you!” Akihiko shouted back.

“Will you both be quite! Zoe is trying to rest and does not need to hear all this noise! Don’t you think she has been through enough?” Dave said as he got up and walked over to Zoe.

“He has a point, things will be sorted out as when we land. In the meantime, please accept my apology for the behaviour of my two Mad Dogs. I will insure they will learn some manners!” Theo said in a dangerous tone that made the Twins look nervous. Akihiko nodded and went back to Zoe’s side muttering something in Japanese.

“Boss why did you apologise to him? He is ..” Ethan started 

“Shut up, both of you! What ever Akihiko has done will be judged by the elders not us! Alannah had dropped charges and the Drakes made the virus. We had our pound of flesh with the beating we gave him, which he took without complaint. I will not have you disrespect a chairman and bring the Mad Dogs into disrepute. Understand?” Theo snapped and the twins nodded. Theo then turned  back to cleaning his weapons. The last thing he needed was a death match on a helicopter over an Ocean! Theo thought.

“God, what side of the bed did he wake up on?” Aiden muttered as the twins stood up.

“You got to understand chairman are incredibly protective over the partners. Without their partners the syndicate can’t run properly and the chairman can’t either” Kurt said with a small smile. He thought of what  he would do if Alannah had been buried alive like Zoe had. The thought of it filled him with both anger and fear.

“Yeah but you are not like Akihiko!” Ethan pointed out

“We are not as dissimilar as you think, in fact in some respects I was worse” Kurt sighed as he closed his eyes and leaned back against the wall. He did not see the shocked looks on the Twin’s faces.

Meanwhile, Akihiko and Dave were by Zoe. 

“How is she?” Akihiko asked with a voice full of concern.

“I will be happier when she is in hospital where there are less germs. She has been through the mill “ Frank said carefully. He did not sit to upset the chairman too much by listing off the injuries.

Dave was not having any of it. “You might as well give us the full report” Dave said with a sigh.

“Fine, she has been beaten, badly and repeatedly. However, I don’t think there is any internal injuries but I won’t know for sure until  she been scanned. She has three broken ribs, fractured ankle and a nasty cut on her head wound. These things are easy to deal with but it is the phycological injuries I am most worried about.” Frank said honestly

“What do you mean?” Dave said

“People who have been trained to withstand torture would find it hard to deal with been buried alive. She have nightmares for sure and will need a lot of patience” Frank said softly 

“Was she...?” Akihiko asked unable to finish the sentence,

“Raped? No, I don’t think so. But by the bruising on her wrists indicate she was pinned down” Frank said 

“I am going to find that Son of a b***h and skin him alive!” Akihiko said angrily. How dare someone hurt his little Dragon like this? He would make Benny pay and he would definitely enjoy it!

“Get in line, Benny Lampart is the most wanted man in the Gang world. Which is quite anImpressive feat!” Andrew said walking over to check on Zoe. Akihiko stiffened as Andrew came near and put his hand over hers.

“Oh my poor little Dove, what have those Bastards done to you? Why didn’t you tell me your problems? I could have helped you” Andrew said sadly 

“Because she did not want to put you in danger Andrew. Remember, she has no idea about your standing in the Gang world. In fact she does not know much at all, apart from what she seen the Blood Gods do” Dave pointed out.

“You certain Benny does not know she is part of Alice?” Andrew asked 

“No she wouldn’t be alive if he did” Dave said

“Wait, Zoe is part of the Alice hackers group?” Theo suddenly asked obviously overhearing their conversation.

Kurt chuckled and said “Part of it? She is the corner stone of it. She is literally the best computer programmer I have ever come across”

Theo eyes opened wide in shock, for Kurt to say that she really must be something! He thought.

“Why do you ask?” Andrew said

“Because one of our missions was to find Alice and bring them to Washington” Theo said with a shrug.

“Zoe is not going!” Akihiko said quickly

“Well this is where it gets very interesting, it is a completely separate mission to bring Zoe to Washington” Theo said

“What does Tony want with Zoe? No body knows who Alice is apart from us!” Andrew said

“I don’t know. But I don’t think it is to hurt her, we were given strict instructions that she must be taken care of at all costs” Theo said. Normally the instructions were either dead or alive!

“It does not matter, she is not going to America. Once we get to Hawaii, she is coming back to Japan with me” Akihiko snapped. He did not like this sudden turn of events.

The Twins burst out laughing and Akihiko said “What?”

“Oh it is nothing..” Ethan said with a smirk

“It is just we’ve  been traveling in the wrong direction for hours and you haven’t noticed!” Aiden said

“Yeah, some Ninja you area!” The Twins said in Unison

“Don’t test my Patience!” Theo growled and the Twins stopped.

Akihiko also thought for a second. He realised the Twins were right, they were heading towards The USA not Hawaii! He had been too distracted by his concern over Zoe to notice this basic thing!

“Sorry Akihiko, but orders and orders! They won’t harm her or you, I have assurances to that affect” Theo said as Andrew smiled after realising he was going to have the home advantage.

There was a loud knocking on the Anderson’s door which took Mrs Farthing by suprise. She walked over in her normal efficient manner and opened the door with a polite smile. When she saw who was on the door step her smile was replaced by a look of pure shock.

“Ena?!? What on Earth are you doing here?” Mrs Farthing said

“Oh I think it is time Tony and I had a little catch up, don’t you?” Ena said with a smile.
