“I am sorry Ena, but Tony is currently in a meeting with Erin” Mrs Farthing said her eyes narrowing, Ena hadn’t been seen on the Anderson’s territory for years and he looked like death warmed up.
Ena smiled and said “Perfect! I need to see both of them anyway. I assuming the office is where it has always been?”
Mrs Farthing sighed and let him come in. She learned long ago that it was best sometimes to let Gang members talk to each other rather then fight. She led Ena to the office door and knocked on it.
“Come in!” Tony said and Mrs Farthing opened the door. Tony Anderson the leader of the North American Gang syndicate was on a large red leather Chesterfield. In the sofa opposite him was His half sister Erin Anderson.
“Mrs Farthing?” Tony said with a quizzical look on his face, he knew she would not interrupt him unless it was important.
“You have a guest” Mrs Farthing said as she showed Ena in.
“It is you!” Erin said suddenly turning white and stiffening.
“Ena? What are you doing here? It must be years my old friend!” Tony said with a smile getting up and greeting Ena.
“Ahh time flies when you are having fun!” Ena said
“Please sit! Mrs Farthing refreshments for our guest, can you also arrange a guest room to be prepared?” Tony said guiding Ena to the sofa.
“You are too kind” Ena said sitting down
“Well no offensive but you look like s**t” Tony said and Ena chuckled.
“Tony I need to talk to you straight away please” Erin said with a worried look on her face. This immediately concerned Tony, Erin his step sister was rarely was concerned.
Erin Anderson was the formidable leader of the Shadow Weavers. She had worked hard and never once used the fact she was related to Tony. There was never any issue about who was the syndicate chair, Tony was the son of the oldest Anderson. The rules were very clear and Erin never wanted it anyway. Erin was technically a founding mother, but she had always like to keep to the shadows. Erin was best served as the syndicate’s spy master, a role she relished.
“OK, what is this all about?” Tony said his eyes narrowing. He could smell a issue a mile off.
“A women called Zoe is on her way here with my charge” Ena said
“Akihiko? Hmm well all charges have been dropped. He is a lucky man and you have your hands very full Ena. But that does not tell me why this Zoe girl is coming her or why I should care” Tony said quietly.
“Wait, please tell me you have told him Erin!” Ena said looking shocked
“Tell me what exactly?” Tony demanded. He hated secrets with a passion, it had cost him many precious years with with Granddaughter, Grace.
“Zoe is ....is my daughter Tony” Erin said bowing her head.
“What? How is that possible?” Tony said shocked.
“Remember how 30 years ago I went for a mission to Canada? Well it was a ruse, I was pregnant and gave birth to Zoe” Erin murmured.
“Let me guess my Betsy knew?” Tony said softly
“Yes, your wife knew and helped organised it. I gave birth in her gang’s territory in California” Erin said
“But why did you both not come to me? I know things were different back then, but we would have worked something out” Tony said confused
“Betsy and I did not want to put you in a difficult position. Things were strained with certain syndicates as it was” Erin started to ramble.
Tony thought for a minute, why would Erin having a baby cause issues for other syndicates? Unless..
“Who is the Father?” Tony asked and Erin said nothing, “Erin, who is the Father and dont even think about lying!”
“Zoe’s Father is Nickolas Medvedev, Anastasia’s and Dimitri’s eldest son” Erin said closing her eyes.
“You have got to be kidding me! Do you know what this means?” Tony said rubbing his forehead
“Yes, of course I do! Why do you think Betsy and I hid her away? Everyone knew Anastasia’s father was a brute, he would not have hesitated to put a kill order out on Zoe. Christ, his own Granddaughter faked her own death to hide Alannah away!” Erin said
“It also means that Zoe is now the Grand Princess and Anastasia’s heiress, not Alannah!” Tony pointed out.
“Don’t think Alannah will cry much over that will she?” Erin said.
“True. But we should probably run some DNA tests. But we both know as soon as Medvedev DNA is identified that gang will be notified. Anastasia will be on the phone in seconds” Tony said
“I know, I just wish Nickolas was still alive, he would be so proud of Zoe. She was first in her class at Yale, you know” Erin said.
“You kept tabs on her I see” Tony said
“Of course! Betsy had a couple of Japanese contacts in California who knew a couple desperate for a child.. She was loved and safe, I do not regret my decision” Erin said simply.
“Let me guess, the Japanese couple were..” Tony said
“My younger sister Aimi and her husband Daiki” Ena said sadly.
“I was sorry to hear of their passing, they were good people and did not deserve that fate. Forgive me, but Did you not search for Zoe?” Tony asked
“By the time I found out what happened, she had already gone into hiding. I did search for her but a Mad Dog was keeping her hidden” Ena said
“I did employed Dave to keep her safe, but none of the Mad Dogs know why. I am sorry to have worried you” Erin said to Ena. Ena smiled and put his hand on her knee indicated that he understood.
“And when...was the ...coupling?” Tony asked
“The Winter Ball of course...it has always been a hot bed of s*x” Erin said and Tony chuckled.
“There is one other thing....Akihiko and Zoe are a couple. Akihiko wants to make her his Empress” Ena said carefully.
“Not Alannah?” Tony said harshly.
“He deserves that, trust me I know he acted like a complete d**k!” Ena said
“Andrew seems to be pretty sweet on her too. Aimi and Daiki agreed a marriage contract with him before they were murdered” Erin pointed out.
“Well that is going to make for a very uncomfortable discussion! However, If she is the Grand Princess then Akihiko would be the better choice” Tony said frankly.
“Apart from the fact that he branded their grandchild with his gang sign!” Erin argued.
“Was the adoption formal?” Tony asked
“Civilian yes, Gang no” Erin said
“Clever, she still has Claim to the Anderson’s and Medvedev‘s name” Tony said
“As well as being my Nice” Ena said. Though not quite as powerful as the Nagato family, Ena’s family the Yamamoto‘s came a close second. Ena was legally Zoe’s Uncle and he was not prepared to her up.
“Well, I am looking forward to meeting my Nice” Tony said. He had always seen Erin as a sister, and any child hers would be automatically welcome.
“That brings me on to the last thing” Ena said.
“Which is?” Erin said
“She was kidnapped by Benny Lampart and is most likely hurt” Ena said
“He is a dead man walking” Tony growled
“Get in line my Friend, get in line” Ena said his eyes glinting with murderous intent.
