Ammaline Pearson :
"Auntie, the design of your entire house is so cool and so unique." I couldn't help, but gave her a compliment.
"Do you like it?" she asked me.
I nodded and she said "My son, he hired a famous interior designer from abroad to design the interior of this house."
"No wonder why this house is so unique." I said and wouldn't stop looking around.
"At first, I thought that it's a waste of money, but now I feel like the money that we spent on this is not worthless." she chuckled.
"The way the designer designed this is unique and it shows your elegance." I gave another compliment.
"Thank you. Hearing that made me feel better." said Mrs. Parker.
"Auntie, don't think that the money you spent is useless. You get to live in this good environment which will make you healthy physically and mentally." I smiled.
"Helen, you see? Someone with good eyes see the price of this." that was the voice of Mr. Parker. Mr. Parker walked and sat down to join us.
"Ohh Mr. Parker, you're here." I greeted him.
"Stop calling me Mr." he said and I nodded.
"Ammaline, you know your auntie keeps blaming my son about the cost of this design." Mr. Parker said.
"I didn't blame him. I just said that it's useless and it's a waste of money since we spent quite a decent amount of money on this." Mrs. Parker protested.
"Alright! I won't argue with you about that." said Mr. Parker.
"Susan, bring the food in." Mrs. Parker ordered one of the maids.
The maid brought the food in and placed in on the table.
"The food is all here. Start eating in now before it gets cold." Mrs. said after the maid done placing food on the table.
Mr. Parker started to eat first and then Mrs. Parker followed him.
"Eat this, Ammaline! It tastes good." Mrs. Parker put a piece of meat in my plate.
"Thank you, auntie."
"No need to thank. You have to finish all of these or else you won't be leaving my house." she chuckled.
"Helen, you want her to eat till her stomach burst open or what? This is a lot of food." Mr. Parker said.
"Right, auntie this is a lot. I don't think the three of us can finish it all." I talked to Mrs. Parker. "Do you usual make many of these dishes?" I asked.
"No. She cooked all of these for you." Mr. Parker said.
"Really? Auntie, you don't have to do that. I feel so guilty." I shyly told Mrs. Parker.
"It's okay, Ammaline. Eat as much as you want. This Brian will never shut up." she glared at Mr. Parker.
"Since it's delicious, I'll try to eat as much as possible, auntie." I told Mrs. Parker.
I no longer felt the awkwardness between Mr. and Mrs. Parker so I started to feel normal.
"Do you really like it?" Mrs. Parker asked me.
"Yes, auntie. Did you cook all of these?" I asked her.
"It's our home chief, she cooks delicious food." Mrs. Parker said. "I'm not really good at cooking." she added.
"I see. Your chief has such a skill." I praised the chief.
"You have such a good sense, sister." a voice came out from the door that led where we were sitting.
I turned around to see who was talking and saw a pretty young lady walked toward us. I looked at her and made a confused face.
"Ahh you're here." Mr. Parker said with a smile on his face.
"Mom, dad, I'm back." that young lady said.
"Wuhhh, Auntie Phan cooked a lot of food. It's all my favorite. What a great timing." she exclaimed loudly.
"Hey girl, watch your attitude." Mrs. Parker said.
"You scared, Ammaline." Mr. Parker told his daughter.
"Sorry, sister." she said softly.
"It's okay." I waved both of my hands at her showing that it's fine.
"Sister, you must be someone special to our family." she told me.
"No no. I'm just a nurse who helped your parents and they invited me here for lunch." I reasoned it out.
"Trust me, sister. I can tell by seeing the food on the table." she winked at me.
"Jess, you're talking too much. Why are you standing there? Aren't you going to eat?" Mrs. Parker cut her from talking to me.
"Of course. I'm going to eat. This kind of food is rare in this house." she sat next to Mrs. Parker and the maid prepared a set of plate for her.
"By the way, what's your name, sister?" she asked me.
"I'm Ammaline Pearson."
"Nice to meet you, sister. I'm Jess. Jessica Parker." she smiled brightly.
"Nice to meet you too, Jessica."
"You can just call me 'Jess'. And how can I address you? Can I call you Ammaline?" she raised her eyebrows.
"Girl! Who taught you how to behave like that to an elder?" Mrs. Parker stared at her.
"It's okay, auntie. I'm not that old so she doesn't have to respect me." I told Mrs. Parker so she wouldn't scold her daughter.
"Yes. You can call me Ammaline and if Ammaline is too long for you just call me Am." I told her.
"Ok, but I like it too when I call you sister." she chuckled.
For some reasons, I don't feel awkward with Jessica at all. Though, I was surprised at first that the Parker couple has a daughter.
"Auntie, I didn't know that you have such a lovely daughter." I told Mrs. Parker.
"This nasty girl is my youngest daughter." Mrs. Parker told me and looked at Jessica.
"Ahh I see. I don't know that you have 2 children. I only know that you have a son." I couldn't help, but said the truth about what I know.
"No. My mother has 3 children." said Jessica.
"Really? I have no idea." I exclaimed.
"We have 3 children. The eldest one is a girl and she's married that's why you don't see her here. The second one is a boy. He's Eric. I'm sure you've heard about Eric, right?" Mr. Parker asked me.
I was stunned for a moment, but still managed to say something. "Yes. I've heard about him, but never have met him." I said.
"You two have never met?" Mr. Parker asked. I shook my head.
"If you want to see him, I can ask him to meet you." Mrs. Parker said.
"No. No. Auntie, I don't want to meet him." I was shaking which made everyone in the room all looked at me.
