Eric Parker :
'Bzzt Bzzt'
My phone kept vibrating. I couldn't ignore it so I looked at the screen and saw that my nasty sister was calling me.
"What do you want?" I answered the phone.
"Brother, I'm outside. Can you come and pick me up please?" she said softly.
"Ahh you want me to pick you up? Why don't you call the driver?" I asked her.
"Someone here wouldn't let me go if I go with the driver." she said.
"Who do you stay with?"
"Ammaline!" she answered.
"Well! I'm working can't ...."
"Bro, it's 7 pm. Your working hour is over. Now, come and pick me up. Don't you dare choosing your work over your sister." she said coldly.
"Alright! Send me your location. I'll get there soon." I hang my phone.
I closed the folder that I was reviewing and got out of the office.
Ammaline Pearson :
I was waiting for Jess to finish her phone call. The way she talked sounded so bossy.
"Do you talk like that to your brother?" I asked her once she finished talking.
"No. But my brother is really into his work. He always overworked and forget about other things so I need to act like that in order to get his attention." she chuckled.
"He's a workaholic?" I questioned.
"You can say that." I slowly nodded to what Jess said.
"You should tell him to live a life and stay healthy. Show him that his health is more important than his work." I advised Jess.
"No one can say anything to him. My brother is very stubborn and strong headed." said Jess.
"I see." I sat there calmly without saying anything.
"Don't you want to know why my brother is like that?" she raised her eyebrows.
"Why should I mind his business? I've never met him and don't even want to meet." I kind of shrugged.
"My brother wasn't like that before." Jess said and looked at me with concerned.
"You want to talk about your brother? Alright! If you want to tell me, something just say it." I told Jess when I saw the expression on her face.
"It happened 3 years ago. What happened back then made my brother to be like this. He no longer feels the say and he always work non-stop." Jessica said which kind of made me curious.
"What happened to him?" I asked.
"It's because of a woman. That ungrateful b*tch." Jessica cursed and she looked so angry.
"Who?" what Jessica said made me want to know more.
"Her name is Courtney Debris." Jessica got angrier when she said that name.
"Who is she and what happened?" I asked her immediately without even thinking.
"She's ..." Jessica was about to talk when she received a message from someone.
"My brother is here. I have to go now." she told me.
"Alright! I'll walk you to your car." Jess nodded and we both got out of the restaurant.
Eric Parker :
I arrived at the location that Jess sent me. Then, I immediately texted her to come out. I waited in the car for a few minutes and saw Jess walked out of the restaurant with a woman which happened to be Ammaline Pearson, the nurse that I met at the hospital. Both of them walked to the car and Ammaline stopped when Jess opened the car door and about to get in.
"I'm leaving now, sister. Thank you very much for the food." Jess said with a smile.
"No problem! Get home safely."
"Sister, do you want me to bring you home?" Jess asked which kind of irritated me.
"No no. You know that I drove here can't leave my car here. You look so tired. You better get home and rest early tonight." that woman politely rejected Jess.
"Right, I just got back from a trip and haven't rest yet. I'm going now. Sister, you better walk back to your car now." Jess told her.
"Ok. I'm leaving." she waved her hand at Jess and turned to walked away.
Jess pull the door closed and push the window down and she shouted to that woman. "Get home safely, sister." Ammaline turned and smiled at her.
"Let's go!" I informed Jess and started to drive home.
"Alright!" she said.
"By the way, do you think that I am your driver?" she asked her.
"Well! I didn't say that you're my driver." I looked at her through a rear-view mirror and saw a smirk on her face.
"Sitting at the back passenger seat, instead of the front and still have a gut to say that." I shook my head.
"Sorry not sorry, brother. I know that you don't mind." she chuckled.
"You nasty girl!" I glanced at her through the rear mirror. "By the way, when did you get so close to that woman?"
"You mean Ammaline? " she asked me and I nodded.
"I just know get today. She's so caressing and kind." Jess complimented that woman.
"I see! Who taught you to trust a stranger that easily?"
"No one. You should know that I wouldn't trust someone so easy, but for Ammaline, it's a different case." Jess came closer to where I sat. She put her hand on her chin and looked at me from the space between the driver seat and the front passenger seat.
I glanced at her and asked "What?"
"Hmmm brother, I want Ammaline to be my sister-in-law." Jess said this which kind of choked me and I coughed.
As I coughed, she asked me "Are you okay?"
I paused for a minute and said "I'm fine."
"Did you hear what I said?" she asked me.
"Yes."
"Then, you should marry her." she turned back to her seat.
"Don't act like mom and dad." I told her.
"Eric, she's beautiful, kind and lovely. She's more than what I said. She's perfect for you." Jess suggested.
"Since, when did you get into my business?"
Jess rolled her eyes and said "Brother, I'm telling you. She's not like the other women who want to marry you. I know that every single woman is dying to marry you and flirt you, but Ammaline, she doesn't want to marry you and she's not interested in you."
"How did you know?" I asked her.
"I asked her and she told me."
"Jess, you should know me. No one can reject this handsome Eric." I chuckled.
"Don't be so full of yourself." she snorted.
"Jess, lemme tell you, I'm not interested in that woman. Okay?"
"Whatever! Focus on your driving."
'That woman is so weird. Who on earth can reject me? Everyone is waiting for my love which I will never give to people again.' I talked to myself silently. I never felt anything or cared about what people talked about me, but that woman irritated me a lot.
