Chapter FourLaurie Spencer emerged from her session room at moments after 10:00 a.m. Laurie had short, black hair and wore black-rimmed glasses. Her smile was warm, and her manner was relaxed and easy-going. “Hi, Sarah,” she said, extending a hand. “Please, come on in.” Laurie's session room was comprised of a couch and an armchair, both across a coffee table from Laurie's chair. There was also the obligatory back door, so that outgoing patients didn't have to come into contact with anyone in the waiting room. The room was neat and tidy, but with little to distract from the business at hand. Laurie had a small desk in the far corner of the room, which was free of files.
