I woke up to the chirps of birds, smiling, I let out a moan, staring up at the ceiling, it was the weekend and I was in a happy mood. I had a feeling that Jason had something to do with that, my phone buzzed at the thought of him. Grabbing it from the charging dock, I unlocked it to see a text from Jason. Morning babes x There’s this really cool spot outside of town, I’ll come pick you up at Janice’s place by 5. Be ready. I smiled at the message, replying in the affirmative before getting out of the bed, I walked to the bathroom, had a quick shower and made my way to the closet. Pulling on a thigh length summer gown with a pale pink cardigan, I grabbed my sling bag and applied a layer of gloss onto my lips. Glancing at my reflection, I smiled in satisfaction before heading out of the closet back to my room. Closing my bedroom door behind me, I made my down the hall to the stairs. “And where do you think you are going?” father’s voice questioned, I turned to see him in front of his study, a newspaper in his right hand. “I… I promised to spend the afternoon with Janice.” I answered; he nodded “Don’t stay out too late.” He advised before entering his study. I let out a breath and walked down the stairs to the front door. The walk to Janice’s house was usually an eight minute walk but I got there in five, I was super excited to see Jason and I couldn’t wait till 5pm. Janice’s place was big, not as big as ours; it had massive windows and the largest front door I had ever seen. I walked up the walkway to the front door and pressed the bell, it let out a melody which I hummed along to.The door opened to reveal Janice who smiled widely at me. “Lover girl!!!” she cheered. “Janice!!!” I shushed her looking beyond her hoping no one heard her. “Relax lover girl, my parents are out.” She explained walking further into the house; I closed the door behind me and followed her through the living room to the kitchen. “Ready for an afternoon of shopping?” she asked tossing me a can of coke. I grabbed it with both hands, letting a sigh of relief that I had actually caught it before nodding at her. “Sure, I have to be back by 5.” I trailed off when she smirked. “Let me guess, Jason Dames is coming to steal you away.” She cooed. I rolled my eyes even as my cheeks became warm. “You two are my OTP.” She declared.I placed the can on the kitchen island staring at her. “We are your what?” “OTP, One True Pairing, jeez Anna, keep up with the times.” She raved waving her hands, mirth in her bright blue eyes. I sighed shaking my head at her. “Can we go?” “Yeahhh” she replied grabbing her purse from the stool, we walked to the garage and got into her white and blue Mini Cooper. She backed out of the garage onto the road while I fiddled with the radio till a really nice song came on. We sang along as she drove to the shopping mall, Vermont was a small town but it was a hot bed for the wealthy which explained why we had a massive shopping mall which had almost all the luxury brands you could find in any other city. Saturday afternoons for the majority of Vermont privileged teens was spent at the mall, either shopping or just walking around which made finding a parking spot a nightmarish activity. Luckily someone was pulling out of a spot as we drove in, like a shark to blood; Janice sped over and parked before anyone could take the space. She let out a cheer of triumph, I laughed at her antics before getting out of the car. She got out and locked the door; we walked across the parking lot to the entrance of the mall. “Should we start with Sephora and work our way down?” She asked looking around the two level building. “Yeah, can we stop by Baths and Works? I need to buy another bottle of my favourite body spray.” “Don’t you mean Jason’s favourite body spray on you?” she teased making me blush, it was true and partially the reason why I wanted to get another bottle. Jason adored the smell of Bubblegum and Vanilla on me, always nuzzling his face into my neck, sighing in satisfaction which was a huge contrast to the don’t-mess-with-me image he had. “Gosh, you are so in love with him.” Janice sighed smiling; I rolled my eyes and walked ahead of her to Sephora. We didn’t stay long there, Janice persuaded me into getting a new lip-gloss and a tube of mascara, I wasn’t really a makeup person so I knew I might end up losing it before the weekend ended. We stopped at Baths and Works and I got my body spray, happy that they had recently restocked. “If it isn’t the O’Malley heir.” I sighed stopping at the sound of the voice; I forced turning to see Derek McKinnon waltzing over to me. Derek was a family friend, son to my mother’s best friend and I use the term loosely. In all honesty they barely tolerated each other, just keeping up pretense; I mean it would be totally unacceptable for the mayor’s wife and Mr. O’Malley’s wife to be enemies and by proxy; Derek and I had to be courteous to each other. “Hello Derek.” I replied taking a step back as he approached me. “So what are you doing here?” he asked “Just shopping.” I answered, he took a step closer to me and I took a step back. “So what did you get?” “None of your business.” Janice snapped. Derek glared at her “I wasn’t talking to you short stack” he snapped before turning to me, his eyes running over my form, resting on my bare thighs where my gown ended. I immediately regretted wearing the gown, his eyes glazed over and he stepped closer to me. “You’re looking mighty fine today, why don’t we head out of here?” he murmured lifting a hand to hold my wrist. “I’m not interested.” I whispered trying to pull away, his grip tightened and he pulled me closer. “Come on Anna, don’t be such a prude. I’m sure you have a hot body under that dress, I mean look at the way you dress.” I gasped, pulling harder to get away, he tightened his grip to the point that the charms on my bracelet dug into my wrists. I fisted my hand and hit him; he yelled and pushed me aside. I screamed as I fell to the floor, hitting my elbow on the scruff of the wall. “You asshole!!!” Janice yelled shoving Derek; he scoffed, rolling his eyes before leaving. “Are you okay?” She asked kneeling by my side. “Yeah” I whispered looking at my elbow; it was a bit scratched up. “Let’s get that cleaned up.” She said helping me up, we walked to the clinic that was at the ground level. The nurse there was very friendly and she immediately had me treated. Placing a smiley face band aid on my elbow. “Thank you.” I whispered, she smiled and we walked out. “Derek is such an asshole, we definitely have to tell your parents, and he basically tried to grope you in public.” Janice ranted. “Stop, no one is going to know.” I cut her off. “But…” “This stays between us.” I spun around to face her. “Please.” I pleaded. She sighed before nodding. “Fine, but if I see him in the hallway, I am definitely going to kick him in the balls.” She snapped. I forced a smile wanting nothing more than to see Jason and curl up in his arms and forget about the whole day. “Let’s just get going. I don’t feel like shopping anymore.” I whispered we made our way out of the mall, to the parking lot. We got into the car and Janice drove us back home. My eyes went to my wrist, it was a bit red and one of the charms had punctured into my skin. Sighing, I pulled the sleeve of my cardigan and covered my wrist. She pulled into their driveway and we got out. Her parents were still not back, so we had the house all to ourselves. “What do you want to do?” she asked. I shrugged “Can we watch a movie?” She nodded and we settled down in the living room, I watched her surf through Netflix and we chose a Rom-com. By the time the movie ended, it was evening and my phone rang just on time. I smiled picking up the phone to see Jason calling. “Hey” I answered. “Hey princess.” He replied. “Ready?” “Yeah. I’ll be out in a minute.” I cut the call to see Janice faking a swoon as she gave me the googly love eyes. “Have fun and don’t do what I wouldn’t do!!!” she said laughing. I blushed shaking my head before grabbing my bag and heading out. His truck was parked across their house, I looked around before heading for the truck, and I got in and smiled at him. He smiled back; he was dressed in all black as usual, black jeans, ripped at the knees, a black loose but snug shirt and a grey linen jacket. “You look amazing.” He said glancing over at my attire, unlike Derek, Jason’s look didn’t make me feel like a piece of meat, he wasn’t looking at me like a piece of ass, no he was being genuine. “Thank you.” I replied. He pulled onto the road and soon was on the main road heading out of town. We stopped at a red light and I turned to see Jason staring at me. “What?” I asked wide eyed. “You’re so f*****g beautiful, it’s insane.” He whispered leaning over to kiss me, my eyes fluttered close as I let him lead the kiss, it was a lazy, sloppy kind of kiss, his hand holding my chin. I had no idea how long we were kissing until the car behind us blared its horn. I jumped but Jason smirked pulling away a little before placing a light kiss on my lips, he then continued driving. I stared at him as he drove, I was madly in love with this man, saying otherwise or saying what we had was a meaningless fling was a lie. What I felt for him was strong, and I was sure he felt the same for me. We drove out of town, the buildings replaced with beautiful fields and farmlands on one side and the forest on the other. Half an hour into the drive, he drove off the tarred road onto a dirt patch road, it was a bit bumpy, I gasped as we hit a rough patch, and he squeezed my hand gently. Some minutes later, we drove past some foliage and I gasped at the sight in front of us. It was a small lake, he parked the truck by the side and I got out looking around. The entire place was surrounded by trees; the ground was covered with grass and flowers. “This is so beautiful.” I said spinning around to face him. “I’m glad you love it. Too bad I stumbled onto it months to graduation.” “Doesn’t matter, we can make so many memories here.” I replied. He produced a blanket from the backseat of his truck. I watched him lay down the blanket, he sat and stretched his hand, and I placed mine in his and let him draw me onto the blanket, in between his thighs, my back resting against his chest. “I missed you.” I whispered, “I missed you too.” He murmured into my ear, kissing my temple. We watched the lake in silence just content and basking in each other’s presence. “How was your day?” I asked softly. “It was okay.” He replied “Spent the day in the garage doing some repairs.” “That’s nice.” I whispered. “How was yours?” He inquired. “Boring, I went shopping.” I answered, “I got a new bottle of my body spray.” He hummed bringing his face close to my neck and inhaling deeply, his grip tightened around my waist, I moaned as he left small kisses all over my neck. He pulled my cardigan lower, exposing my shoulder which he pressed gently kisses on. I let out a hiss when his hand grazed my wrist, he stiffened and I realized what I had done. I tried to pull my hand away but he wouldn’t let me. He turned me to him and pulled the sleeve of my cardigan up to expose my injured wrist. A calm Jason was not to be crossed; a pissed off Jason on the other hand was a different case, it was best to avoid him all together. His grey eyes darkened, almost resembling the August storms. “Who. Did. This?”
