Chapter 7

Jason's eyes darkened further than I thought were possible. Forcing my hands to my lap, I sighed. "I... I don't know how he found out but he mentioned it to me on Sunday." Jason was still silent, his eyes staring straight ahead, lips pressed into a line. "What else did he say?" He asked. I bit my lip, there was no way I would repeat the words he called me, I had barely gotten Jason away from him, I wasn't about to sign Derek's death sentence. "Nothing. I asked him what he wanted but he said I'll know when the time comes." His grip tightened on the steering wheel. "Or I can kill him and be done with it." He muttered. I placed my hand on his; using my other hand to cup his face turning him to me. "Don't, if anything happens to you, I will never forgive myself." I whispered. He stared at me before letting a groan. "When did I become so soft?" He murmured. I giggled pressing my forehead to his. "Don't worry; you're still the scary bad wolf everyone fears." I replied. "That makes you my little red riding hood." He stated lifting me over the gearbox, unto his thighs. “And you're wearing red, what a coincidence." He tugged on my shirt. "You do know the wolf tried to eat little red." I said, placing my hands on his pectoral muscle to steady myself. "And who said I don't want to eat you up?" He whispered, pressing his lips to mine. My eyes fluttered close and I relaxed into the kiss. His hand moved from the seat to my thigh moving the soft chiffon of my skirt out of the way. I deepened the kiss, feeling a spark as our tongues touched. I pulled away, cursing my need to breath. "We should head back before half the town comes looking for us." I said moving back to the passenger seat. "I can see the headline already. Town's misfit assault Mayor's son, abducts O'Malley Heir." He grumbled putting the truck into drive. I fiddled with the radio, humming when a catchy tune came on. "What do you think is going to happen in school?" I asked glancing over at him. He shrugged "Principal Cutler is probably having a f*****g o****m at the thought of punishing me." He answered. "I knew this would happen, you shouldn't have beaten Derek up." I murmured. "Say those words one more time and I won't think twice about putting you over my knee." He threatened; I kept quiet knowing he was dead serious. "Where are we going?" I asked frowning when he took a turn at an alleyway before the school turn; he drove through slowly along the fence of the school, stopping where the fence was low. "We can't have you getting into trouble now can we?" He said getting out of the car. My frowned deepened as I watched his come over to my side. He opened the door and I got out, following him to the fence. "The door at the other side leads back into the school. Take a left at the boy's bathroom, go up the stairs, through a door and you'll find yourself back in the main hall." He instructed, I nodded and watched as he went on one knee, linking his hands together forming a kind of step for me. "Go on, I'll see you soon princess." He whispered. "Be careful." I replied stepping unto his hand, gasping as he gave me a boost over the fence, I landed imperfectly, staggering a bit before finding my footing. I looked back at him once more before making my way to the door. I gently pried it open, slipping in and closing it as quietly as possible. It was a long corridor with no doors or windows, just white overhead fluorescent lights gleaming harshly on the tiles. I walked down the corridor until I saw a sign for the boy's toilet. I took a left and walked up a flight of stairs, there was a door at the end. I opened the door and poked my head. The main hall was empty, sighing in relief, I closed the door behind me and tiptoed to Mathematics class, luckily the teacher wasn't in yet and the students were distracted by the roar of Jason's truck coming into the school premises. Keeping my head down, I walked into the class and found my seat near Janice. "You can't sit..." I looked up at her and her eyes went wide. "Oh My God!!! Where in God's good name did you go to? I was so worried!!!" She hissed pulling me off my seat, to the back of the class away from all the students who were clamoring to the windows to get a piece of the action that was about to unfold between Jason and Principal Cutler. "Explain!!! And don't you dare tell me to wait till after school!" She demanded. I sighed running my fingers through my hair. "I don't know how but Jason found out about the incident between Derek and I at the shopping mall." "Oh shit..." she whispered eyes wide. "That's not all... Derek knows about Jason and I, he knows about Saturday, he knows about the lake." I explained. "That slimy snake!!!" She said scowling "how on earth did he find out? Was he..." "Settle down Class, that's enough excitement to last us a month." Mr. Montgomery drawled placing his book on the desk. Everybody including Janice and I scurried to our seats. My eyes kept glancing towards the door expecting Jason to waltz in. "What happened to Derek?" I whispered to Janice when Mr. Montgomery turned his back to us. "He was taken to the school clinic." She replied "I hope Jason broke his nose." She added making me roll my eyes. I tried super hard to concentrate but my mind was on Jason. Was he in trouble? Was he going to be suspended? The anxiety was killing me. "Ms O'Malley!" I jumped, snapping back into the present to see the entire class looking at me. Mr. Montgomery's eyes were on me, his brow raised. "Yes sir?" I squeaked. "Is my class so boring that you decided to take a trip to dreamland?" He inquired making me bow my head as some members of the class chuckled. "Why don't you come up here and solve this, it will surely be enough interest to keep your attention in class." I stood and made my way to the board, grabbing the marker from him. I looked at the problem, biting my lip. I glanced at Mr. Montgomery who had a smug smile on his face, I wanted nothing more than to wipe it off and I was going to. Lifting my hands to the board, I pushed everything to the back of my mind and got to solve the equation, immersing myself in the world of maths. A minute and a half later, I stepped back and went over the answer, cross checking to see if I had not missed anything before handing a shocked Mr. Montgomery the marker. "Impressive" he commented. "Doesn't excuse the fact that you should still pay attention in my class." I nodded, walking back to my seat, my eyes drifting to Jason’s seat; I honestly hoped he was okay. We solved some more equations, before Mr. Montgomery called Janice out to solve a particularly difficult one for chewing gum in his class. She rolled her eyes and walked to the board, easily solving the equation. Janice was not on a Mathematics Scholarship for nothing, what did he expect from the daughter of a Mathematics Professor and an award winning physicist. She gave him one of her dazzling smiles before sauntering back to her seat. The bell ringing the moment she sat. “Class dismissed.’ He announced gathering his books and walking out of the class. “I really don’t like that man.” Janice uttered ripping another packet of gum and tossing two into her mouth before offering me one. “No thank you.” I replied, she shrugged, sealing the packet and tossing it into her bag. “More for me then, come on, let’s get going.” I followed her out of class to my locker; I could hear murmurs and bits of conversations. I strained my ears trying to hear anything that had to do with Jason. “… I heard he told the Principal to f**k off.” A girl in a band tee said to her friend. “No!!! The Principal called the police on him.” Another argued. “… apparently The Mayor came down here and Jason swore at him then the Mayor had him arrested.” Another voice explained. I could feel my heart beating faster and faster as I heard people talking about what had occurred. I must have looked like I was on the verge of passing out from the distress because Janice grabbed my hand and shoved people aside. I could barely hear their cries of anger as we passed through the crowd. We finally reached my locker and Janice unlocked it and pulled out my backpack. We followed the alternative route out of school, her hand still holding mine, we walked into the parking lot and my eyes went immediately to Jason’s usual parking spot, it was empty. I looked around and his car wasn’t there. Derek’s car wasn’t there also. We got into Janice’s car and I slumped, hiding my face with my palms, my entire body was shaking. She rubbed my back with her hand as I fought the wave of helplessness that was threatening to drown me. “Call him.” She said softly. I nodded pulling my phone out of my pocket and speed dialing his number. “Please be okay.” I whispered biting my nail. The call went to voicemail, I cut the call and tried again but it went it voicemail again. “Oh God…” I choked out blinking back the tears. “Hey, it’s going to be fine.” She soothed. “No it’s not. This is my entire fault, now Jason’s in trouble.” I cried out. “You know what… I’ll be right back.” She said getting out of her car, I watched confused as she walked to Tammy’s group. I wondered what she was doing; Tammy and her seemed to be talking. I observed them and watched as she made her way back to the car. She got in and put her seatbelt on before turning to me. “So your boy is safe, apparently Principal Cutler told him to go home.” She explained. I let out a sigh of relief “Then why won’t he answer my calls?” I asked. She shrugged making me slump in my seat, a pout on my lips. I watched as Tammy and her goons got into her car and drove away, her dented bumper in desperate need of a fixing. BINGO!!! I sat up, smiling widely. “I know where he is” “Out with it then” Janice said starting her car, excitement in her voice. “Terrence Garage” I supplied. She drove out of the school and drove in the direction of the well known mechanic shop in Vermont. “So what are you going to do about Derek?” She asked. “I don’t know Janice, I honestly have no idea what he wants from me but I can’t let him hurt Jason.” Janice let out a snort “I don’t think Derek can hurt Jason” I sighed looking at her “You know what I mean.” I replied. “Shouldn’t you be more worried about yourself? I mean the worst your dad would do to Jason is slam him with a restraint letter, your mum would probably give him a disdainful look and that’s it, you on the other hand, they would ship you off to a Monastery in The Himalayas.” She countered waving her hand dramatically. “As long as Jason is okay then I don’t care what happens to me” I whispered looking out of the window. “That’s it folks, my best friend is officially lost to this thing called love” she yelled, placing her hand on her forehead dramatically. I couldn’t help but laugh at her antics. She always found a way to make me laugh no matter how bad a situation was. The signboard for the garage appeared as we took a turn and she parked in the parking lot. “I’ll be back in five.” I said unbuckling the seatbelt. “How are you sure he is here?” she asked as I got out of the car. “It’s Monday, he always comes here after school.” I replied closing the door and making my way to the entrance of the garage. I had never been to one before, Adolfo and Hubert was in charge of the cars so I never had any business coming to a garage. I walked into the garage looking around for any sign of Jason when I saw his truck. The front lid was popped open and someone was bent over working on it. “Jason” I called out, the person turned and I smiled feeling all the pent up emotions leave my body. I ran to him, wrapping my arms around him. “Hey Princess” He breathed wrapping his arms around my waist. “What are you doing here?” I looked up at him, he had oil stains on his face but I couldn’t care less, he looked devastatingly beautiful, his hair in a man bun, with a few escaping and framing his face. “I was worried, you didn’t come back and you weren’t answering my calls and the rumours going around school saying you were in jail and the mayor wa…” “Hey… Breathe” He whispered cupping my face, I held his fingers tight with mine, closing my eyes and doing as he said. “I’m fine alright?” I nodded at his words; he tucked my hair behind my ear and pressed a kiss to my forehead. “Can you come tonight? My parents aren’t going to be around” I asked. “Sure, I’ll be there.” “Promise?” I asked not wanting to leave him. “I promise Princess” He replied smiling.
