When I woke up, I was on a soft bed, which confused me. I sat up and looked around but all I saw was a nice room, it seemed to be lacking a dresser because clothes littered the floor and were hung from a makeshift bar but the feeling I got from the room was nice.
I slipped out of the bed, but froze when I looked at what I was wearing. I was missing my boots and socks and my torn pants were replaced with sweat pants. Who the hell changed my clothes? I moved to the door and flung it open, only to find three guards staring at me.
“What the hell is going on?” I couldn’t even get a good smell of the place because all I could smell was wet dog and a wonderful pine smell.
“You’re to wait here for Alpha Grayson.”
“And who the hell is Alpha Grayson?”
The wolves didn't respond. I went to move between them but their arms blocked my way the second I moved.
“I need blood.” I said, crossing my arms.
“You can wait when we picked you up there was an empty bag of blood, fresh.”
I growled and tried to push past them put the pushed me back.
“I just want to go home!” I said but to be honest I didn't know where my home was now. “Where is this Alpha Grayson?” I asked, trying to figure out when I would be able to leave.
“Right here.” A deep, familiar voice said. I looked up to see the man from my camp staring at me.
“You! What the hell, did you change my clothes or something?!”
“Of all things you ask that. Yes, I did change your clothes, your jeans were bloody and I was not allowing you to make a mess on my bed.”
“Your bed, so, I'm in your room?” I asked, with a sly smile. I was ready to raise hell; no one just takes me captive.
“Don't even think about it!” Alpha Grayson pushed his way through his guards but I was already throwing his things around his room. All four wolves stopped to stare and I wondered why, then I realized I didn't show many people my ability to move objects with my mind. They were knocked out of their daze when something glass shattered against the wall.
“Lana!” He tackled me to the ground and the whirlwind stopped. I went to punch him in the face but he held down my arms. The uncomfortable feelings returned, like someone threw a firework into my stomach. I struggled, but to no avail.
“How the hell are you so strong?” I yelled, pulling against him.
“I'm an Alpha.” Is all he said. What they hell was an Alpha and how did that make him so special, I was a vampire I should have had him on his back. “Plus the wolf’s blood is still in your system, making you weaker than normal.”
I gave up, but Grayson continued to pin me down.
“Why do you want me? I have no information, Cain keeps all that to himself, I'm not that close with the Queen, she doesn't hate me because we’re blood but she is not my biggest fan, what the hell can I do for you?”
“Read their minds.”
“That won't happen.”
“And why not?”
“Because you're a bloody werewolf that’s why! I'm a vampire, why would I work with the werewolves? What can you hold against me? Cain could easily fend you off, Liam and Charles are safe at the castle, my mother would slaughter you, so please, tell me what you have to convince me to fight with you.”
“Come with me. “ He stood up and began walking and I realized that I had nothing better to do, plus I could easily escape from him in the open. That’s what I thought until the guards followed us. He led me downstairs, instead of out in the open as I thought he would, and to a cellar type thing. Inside of it was Maya, looking slightly dirty and her clothes a little ripped but other than that, she looked healthy and glowing.
I looked at Maya and then at Grayson, his face expectant, and I cracked up.
“Are you serious? You were going to threaten me with her? You obvious did not do a lot of research because I just about hate that bitch.”
Someone growled next to me, one of the guards.
“Oh, I’m sorry is that word offensive to you? Listen, Maya made my life miserable and the morning before your attack she tried to kill me, so using Maya as leverage really is not the best idea.” I smirked, crossing my arms.
“I told you she wouldn’t bite.” Maya said, standing up and pushing the cell door open. “And trust me Lana, the feeling is mutual.” She went and stood by the guard that growled at me.
“You seem different.” I said, looking her over.
“It’s being with the wolves, I finally feel at home.”
“Well, what are you going to hang over my head now?” I asked Grayson.
He looked at a loss for words.
“You could do it for me.”
“For you? Now explain to me why the hell I would do anything for you.” God, this will be interesting. The wolves were starting to get on my nerves and I wasn’t even sure why. Maybe it was because they were holding me captive, maybe it was their cocky “Alpha” or maybe it was because six of us were crammed in a small space right now.
He moved close to me, forcing me to take in his pine scent, his lips close to mine, he breathed out. His breath smelt like mint and I began to shiver, I looked into his dark eyes, which seemed to go on forever. I was almost about to give in, almost.
I stepped back.
“Can you not? It smells bad enough and I don't need anymore exaggeration on the smell of mutt in this place.” I said, wondering what the hell came over me. I have seen my fill of attractive men, Cain who pulled off the smoldering eyes and sculpted chest, Charles who was toned in every way and a wonderful personality to match and then there was Liam who had the perfect body and his anger was just a turn on, so what made this Grayson so different?
His eyes momentarily filled with hurt and he stepped back from me. How could I hurt him?
He sighed.
“Put her in the cell I guess and we’ll figure out what to do from there.” He said, not looking at me.
“Um, I am not going in the cell.”
One of the wolves pushed me towards it but I ripped the door off with my mind and pinned everyone but Grayson against the wall with it. Maya wiggled her way out before I had the chance to breath. She growled, deep and menacing at me.
“What, you want to go another round? I thought you learned the last time that you are no match for me.”
“Let Michael go!” She growled.
“Which one is Michael?” I asked and she wisely didn't answer.
“Like I said, I am not going in that cell. I'm sure you're going to have guards on me twenty-four seven so what's the point? I'm not going anywhere at the moment so there's no reason the put me in the cell.”
He sighed again, this time out of irritation.
“Fine, whatever. The three of you stay with her.”
I smiled a small victory on my part made me feel much better. But a question still circled through my head, why had Grayson almost been able to make me submit?
