Chapter One

1145 Words
“Do we have to be in this one?” I asked Cain, sighing. We were leading the attack on a large section of wolves. “The Queen and King required me to do it and I don't want you out of my sight. You won't actually be leading it, I will so don't worry about that, you will stay here in the tent. I won't be gone for long and the wolves wouldn’t dare to come here anyways.” “I just hate being the only one not doing anything, I'm used to being the one who does everything.” I said, thinking back to all the killings I did with Liam, he would sit in the back as I lured the vampires out and killed them all he did was light them on fire. I liked being the one in control, because after years of being a slave and you get control, that’s all you want. Thinking of Liam made me sad, his refusal to see me hurt me in ways that I didn't know it could. I tried to see him a few times but it just ended with a door slammed in my face and to be honest, I didn't want to deal with that. “I understand that Lana, but here you are just another vampire and I can't risk you. Be safe, I'll be back.” He kissed my cheek and then left the tent, leaving me alone. I could have saw him off, I could have watched the vampires leave and head off to attack the werewolves but I just couldn’t. I heard the vampires as they marched off and I sat down, looking at the map that used to sit in Cain’s office. Being a Prince, Cain was now being used to lead armies and he was charge of all the armed forces, he was the commander in chief. I was with him because I couldn’t stand staying in my apartment, the memory of Liam and Maya to recent, I couldn’t stay in his empty house with Milo gone fighting and Cecily gone recruiting vampires from other countries, and I couldn’t stay in the Castle, even though both my grandmother and Charles invited me, because I couldn’t stand the idea of Liam inside the same house of me and not speaking to me. I began memorizing the map, the unexplored spots much larger than I thought but the vampires had been so consumed with leading and controlling the humans that they didn't decide to pay more attention to the wolves and the areas of land that they left free which may be their downfall—our downfall. I was dressed in a comfortable outfit, brown boots, tight flexible pants and a tight dark blue long-sleeve shirts to go with the cooler weather. I pulled my long dark hair back into a ponytail and decided to leave Cain’s tent and head out to the rest of the camp, just to check things out. I knew that I was the only one here so I knew that I wouldn’t be disturbed by anyone. I headed to the tent that held the blood and grabbed a pint and started sipping on it. I found small things to entertain me, like organizing Cain’s tent and picking up the camp, which I was actually enjoying, that is until I heard a noise. My head snapped to my right and I narrowed my eyes, sniffing the air. “Help.” A weak voice said and I ran to the human, who was gasping, marks covering her face, legs and arms. “Are you okay?” I asked, looking her over. “They attacked, they were so ruthless, killing everyone…we didn't stand a chance,” “Who attacked?” I had to make sure she was on our side because I wouldn’t turn her away, but I needed to come up with a quick cover story in case Cain came back. “Well, it wasn’t the wolves.” A deep voice said, causing me to freeze. I tried to reach out mentally, only to remember that it didn't work on wolves, which is what this man definelty was and he was not alone. Six other wolves came out from behind injured girl, who I grabbed and decided to use as a hostage. “Who the hell are you and what do you want?” I asked, holding tightly onto the girl but not enough to harm her. “I am the Alpha of the pack that you're vampires think they are attacking right now and what I want, that would be you my vampire.” I took him in, all six foot six of him. His dark eyes fit in nicely with his dark-brown-red hair and tanned skin. “Why do you want me?” I asked, slowly inching my way away but each step I took the six wolves took two so I decided just to stop moving. “Because that’s for me to know and you to find out, boys get her.” “Move and I snap her neck.” I growled. I wasn’t sure if I could do it, because I would never kill a human but I had to make myself out to be a ruthless vampire. The girl I was holding began shaking but the Alpha only laughed, “I see the doubt behind your eyes and besides, do you think we would take you without doing some history on you, Lana? I know that you would never kill a human.” Damn. I let her go and turned to run but I was suddenly surrounded by wolves. They growled and snapped at me. A claw scrapped against my skin, tearing my pants and causing me to become dizzy. I tried to move but I was sluggish and quite uncoordinated. I could feel my blood soaking my jeans and sliding its way down my leg. “What the hell.” I mumbled. “Wolf’s blood, Lana, the vampire’s weakness. Now either you come with me the easy way or we will send a real raid and kill your precious Cain.” “Go to hell!” I reached for him, but only ended up falling on my face. I looked up to see the Alpha coming towards me, walking slow and casual. “No, I'll get her.” I heard him say, but I was slowly losing consciousness. When I felt him lift me up a strange feeling went through my body, making me feel very uncomfortable. But, before I could even say anything about this feeling I checked out of my mind.
