Chapter Twenty-One

915 Words
Isla’s POV Maya was going to kill Lana? I thought as I heard her agree to work with Angelina. I had heard about how Maya was before she met Michael, was she reverting to her ways? I did not care much for Lana, but she was my Alpha’s mate, plus she saved me from behind tortured and murdered. So would I tell Grayson, or would I let it happen? To be honest, I did not care either way, so I would let Maya decide what she was going to so and I would not mention it to anyone. I slipped away from there and looked for my mate. I found him moping by a tree. “You should be happy that you're here with your mate.” I told him, looking into his beautiful eyes. “I am, Isla…it’s just she is my best friend and I worry about her.” “Well, worry about me, Liam! I am so tired of hearing about Lana! I am your mate, not her!” I growled. “I know, babe but she is still my best friend and I still care for her!” “I should always come first, before her!” “You do, Isla, you do.” He pulled me close and I buried my head in his chest. Elysia’s POV I wandered Cain’s halls, not knowing what exactly to do. Cain was off at the castle, as usual and even though he moved all of his things to the castle, I have yet to be moved. Was that because he didn't me over there? I was not too upset about it because I did not want to ruin Lana’s silence, and now that Angelina was gone, Lana is the only one keeping my secret. “Elysia!” Isabella yelled. “What are you doing here, you are supposed to be gathering the Cain’s papers, the ones in he left in his old office. He is coming by soon and you are not doing your business.” “He never told me anything about that.” I said, looking at the brunette. I did not trust her for some reason, there was something about her that made me doubt her every word. “Well, go!” She impatiently moved her hands and I followed her idea, against my better judgment. I headed into Cain’s office, which looked pretty bare. I began looking for the papers that Isabella could have been talking about, but I found nothing. Everything was kept in boxes or contained so that there were no lose papers around. That is until I went into Cain’s desk. I pulled out the notebook and flipped it open. I should have realized then that it was a trap, but I was much too curious. I began reading Cain’s writing. I fear as though I am losing Lana to Liam. She spends her time with him and I have put her in danger too many times. I should leave her be, let her be the good slave, but I cannot because I could honestly see myself with her, see myself finally settling down. I will make Lana mine, no matter what because she is mine and no one else’s. That was written a long time ago because it was in the front of the book, so I flipped through to the end. The king and the werewolf’s head alpha have both staked their claim on Lana, and I have been developing feelings for Elysia, but Lana is still my first choice. She has told me that she thinks that she will not be able to stop loving me and the werewolf that said that she would not, she had no choice and to be honest I think I feel the same way towards Lana. Elysia is beautiful and perfect, but Lana is my love. I stopped reading. I had not realized how much I wanted Cain’s love, how much I wanted to be the only one on his mind, I had not realized until I found out I wasn’t. Lana was first, she was first with everyone. “What the hell are you doing?!” A very angry voice said. I looked up to see Cain looking at the notebook in my hand. “Isabella—” “I didn't ask you what Isabella was doing; I ask you what you were doing. Did I give you permission to go through my things, and read my personal journals?” “No, sir.” I looked away. I should have known that Isabella was setting mw up! “And yet you still did it. What did you read about? My plans, my allies, what were you looking for?” “Nothing sir…I just read about your…your ever present love for Lana, sir.” For some reason those words were hard to say. “That’s what you get for reading through my things; I want you out of my office and out of my sight, now!” “Yes, sir.” I moved quickly out of there. I had been so stupid to think that he wanted me like that, I was only his favorite because of my Elven blood, it tasted wonderful to him. He would always want Lana over me.
