Lana’s POV
I took a deep breath, smelling in the familiar old house. It was not really old; it just felt old to me because the first time I stepped into it was over two years ago. I came to the house, planning on meeting with Cain, only to remember that he was still a prince and he was off with Charles, talking about Crimson Night. So, instead I went looking for Elysia, if only I found her first.
“Well, well, well.” She said, crossing her arms and looking at me. “What are you doing here?” Isabella asked.
“I am looking for Elysia.”
“Oh, I doubt she is going to want to see you.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at her. I did not want to believe a thing that Isabella told me, not after all that she has done to me.
“Let’s just say that Cain lost his temper, as usual and may have blurted to her that he still loves you, and prefers you over her.”
“Yeah right, Isabella. Why don't you mind your own business and stop trying to screw up people’s lives. You want to be just like Maya was, don't you?” I asked, getting close to her. “Well, Maya is better now and you should learn from her example, being a b***h gets you nowhere.”
“You don't know anything! You think that just because you stayed here for a time, and you were a ‘slave’ that you had it hard, that you know what it is like to suffer! You know nothing, so don't tell me how to act when you don't know my life!” Isabella said, crossing her arms, “And if you want to see for yourself about Elysia, she is in your old room.” Isabella said, walking away. Why was everyone always walking away from me?
I decided to find Elysia, and see if what Isabella was saying was true. I found my room easily, never really forgetting where it was located. I knocked on it, trying to be respectful of the girl and when I did not hear a response, I simply pushed the door open.
“Come to gloat, Isabella?” Elysia asked, her back facing me.
“No, and I'm not Isabella.” I said and Elysia looked over her shoulder to see me.
“Have you come to gloat? I supposed Cain came to you and told you about my ‘snooping’.” She said, sitting up.
“No, I haven't seen Cain; he is in a meeting with Charles and the other Princes at the moment. But, Isabella did say that he lost his temper with you.”
Oh, Isabella, that conniving b***h! She set me up and she knew that he was coming!”
“Oh, Isabella played you too?” I asked, sitting next to Elysia. “And, I have experienced Cain’s temper, to the extreme. If you do not have a hole in your neck, and you have no bruises, then Cain’s cares for you more than you think.”
“What do you mean?” Elysia asked.
“When I made Cain lose his temper, he forced me onto my knees, early dislocating my shoulders in the process, and then he bit onto my neck like a savage, tearing a hole in it. And Isabella? She made sure, right after Cain and I made up, to shove her tongue down his throat the moment I walked in the room, making me hate him all over again. Isabella is out for her own goals, and one of those is having Cain for her own, and Cain won't get rid of her because she has been his slave for most of her life.”
Elysia looked at her hands that were resting on her lap.
“What did happen, if you don't mind me asking?”
“I…Isabella said that there was some papers of Cain’s that I was supposed to get in his office, so I went in there, against my better judgment because I felt like she was out to get me. Well, I could not find any papers, so I looked harder, and came across a notebook, that talked about you, and how much he loved you still and how you could never stop loving him. Is that true?”
“Apparently because I loved Cain before I was turned into a vampire, it was engraved in my DNA, and I have no choice but to love him. But, that does not mean that I am going to take him from you, and it would be taking him from you. You do not understand, Cain cares for you very much; you are the first favorite he has taken since me. You just have to remember that he has a temper, and sometimes he will lose it.”
“But what's the point, Lana? What is the point when he is already so dedicated to you and I am simply a back-up plan?”
“That is your decision to make Elysia.” I told her truthfully, because I felt for her. I do not know why, but I felt like I was looking at myself, two year ago.
“Thanks.” She said, looking at me briefly.
“Well, I'm going to go and see how the meeting went and when they decide to Crimson Night.” I told her, standing up. I wanted them to put off Crimson Night, but then again I wanted to get over with it. But, I could not allow them to kill Grayson, I will not.
“Ok…I'll be thinking.”
“Good.” I told her and then left, avoiding Isabella on the way out. I just wanted to see Charles. I headed back out to the castle, which was not too far, but far enough for me to be tired of sitting. When I walked up to the conference room, the door was shut meaning that there was a meeting in progress. I sat down on the ground, waiting for the meeting to end. As I sat on the ground, Anninka walked up to me, glaring.
“Listening in so you can tell all your wolf buddies our plans?” She growled.
“No, I'm waiting for Charles because I'm bored. I am not the one schemes, that is you dear grandmother. And you know what they say about someone with a guilty conscience, those are the ones who are more likely to accuse others.
“I don't have a guilty conscience, I have an angry one! My daughter is missing and you are the cause of it!”
“I am not!”
“If you would have just stayed gone with the wolves, my daughter would still be here!”
“You can't make up your mind can you? Do you want me to work for the wolves or not? I don't really care what you say, I'm just curious.”
“I want you gone, that’s what I want.”
“Will you two shut up!” Charles yelled, throwing the doors open. The princes filled out behind him, some smirking, some glaring and some looking simply bored.
“Sorry, Charles. Did we ruin your meeting?” I asked hi, standing up.
“No, we were going on a break so some of the Princes could feed, but you were being so loud that even if we wanted to keep going, there would have been no way. Anninka, I need you to leave your granddaughter alone, and stop accusing her of things! She hasn’t done anything wrong.” He told her, and she crossed her arms. “Lana, you want to go somewhere while we let the men feed?” He asked me, smirking.
“Why not?” I shrugged.
