Angelina’s POV
I stormed away from Lana. She always thinks that she is better than everyone else is; she always thinks that she is in charge of everyone. That is not right! I was on top before she came around. I have had powers longer than she has, yet she was stronger, how was that fair?!
I headed outside the castle, and to the gardens. I wanted to get away from everyone. All Charles talked about was Lana, all Cain talked about was Lana, and all my mother talked about was how Lana was more powerful than me. I was living in my niece’s shadow and I was sick of it. I just want to be the one better than someone again; I want to be on top again.
I was near the edge of the garden when I felt a presence. I looked over my shoulder and I saw a tall man. He was the man that I saw in Lana’s memories, Grayson.
“What do you want?” I asked him.
“You.” I sensed a mental signal from him, but I thought we could not hear wolves.
“Why?”
“Because, we no longer have Lana and we need someone.”
“I won't help you and I will scream if you move to me.”
“Too late.” Someone whispered behind me and covered my mouth. His name was Michael, and he was Maya’s mate and all he was thinking was he could not wait to get back to his mate.
Why was I hearing the wolves? I thought it was impossible. I could not hear Maya, but I could hear them loud and clear, like they were vampires or humans. Was a better at something than Lana? Did I finally beat Lana at something?
That was my last coherent thought before I lost consciousness.
When I woke up, I was in a jail cell, but on a nice bed.
“What, realized you made a mistake when you let Lana use your room?” I asked as Grayson stepped into view.
“How do you know that?”
“The same way that I know you're confused as to why even though you are positive Lana is your mate, you can feel the mate sparks when you touch me. I read your mind.”
“Nice try, you can't do that.”
“Correction, Lana can't do that, but I can.”
“Wait, your powers differ?”
“Of course. Lana can control people, and move objects with her mind, but I cannot. I can hear werewolves and destroy people’s memories and Lana cannot. Lana is a fixer, a mover, while I am a destroyer.”
Grayson looked at me strange.
“You're Lana’s aunt, correct?” I nodded. “Then…why are you so different?”
“Because we are different people. I am not the princess that my niece is, and I am not afraid to be a b***h. Oh! Speaking of, where is Maya?” I asked. At least I would be able to see someone that I related to.
“She is busy. I need you to agree to work with me.” He said turning hard. I went through his mind, and I saw that he had to torture Lana to get her to help.
“What can you give me?”
“What?”
“What will I get out of this? I am not Lana, you do not have to torture me to get what you want, you just have to offer me a better deal. My mother raised me up scheming people, how do you think she got the crown? I am loyal to no one really.”
“What do you want?”
I thought it over and I knew exactly what I wanted, but first I needed Maya,
“First, bring me Maya; I won't talk without her and her alone.”
A few moments later. Maya was sitting in front of me. I tried, but I still could not read her mind, maybe it was because she was a hybrid and stuck in-between.
“Angelina, long time no see.”
“Maya.” I smiled. “I need a favor; I will help the wolves on one condition and one condition only. I know that this wimp of an alpha won't do it, but you will.”
“What do you want?”’ She smirked.
“I want Lana dead.” Maya’s eyes went wide.
“But, she is Grayson’s mate!”
“Yes, but so am I. I do not know why or how but I am, so it will not be a big deal if she was dead. And think about it, if she is dead, I can unite the wolves and the vampires because my mother is Queen, that means that your dear mate Michael will be safe.”
Maya bit her lip, thinking.
“Only if you don't tell anyone about our deal, tell them that I convinced you someone, our friendship or some crap, but don't tell them that I am going to kill Lana, because Grayson will order me against it and I will have no choice.”
“So, you'll kill Lana for me?”
“As long as you do as Grayson says.” I smirked; this kidnapping was turning out in my favor.
Lana’s POV
“Where the hell is my daughter?” Anninka yelled, interrupting Charles’ conversation with me.
“What are you talking about, Anninka?” Charles asked.
“My daughter is gone! Moreover, where her scent ends, it reeks of wolf! And do you know who the last person she was seen with, you!” Anninka pointer her finger at me.
“What? You think I handed her over to the wolves?! Please, I would not torture them so.”
“So, you do have a soft spot for those mutts! You know what Angelina told me?”
“Don't even Anninka, I don't care if you are Queen or not you have no right in my business. It is not my fault that your daughter was dumb enough to wander alone and get kidnapped by werewolves.”
“Anninka, you can not just storm in here like this. Lana came to me directly after her argument with you daughter, so she could not have ‘handed her over to the wolves’. Lana may have a soft spot for the wolves because she was with them for some time, but you have no right to be rude to my blood mate like that. As I have said before, I am the true heir to this throne and have more authority than you. And must I also remind you that as Queen you must regain your composure because for the subjects to see you as so would cause chaos.”
“But my daughter is gone!”
“And we will look for her, do not doubt that. Crimson Night will take place in only a few days, you know that. We will gather the wolves and Angelina is only a profit for their side so they wouldn’t kill her and we will get her there.”
I could hear Anninka grinding her teeth from across the room.
“You better hope that nothing happens to my daughter.”
“You are so concerned for Angelina, but what about my mother? Is she so easily replaced? Angelina is just a—”
“Lana, stop.” Charles said, looking at me. “You are picking a fight. Anninka please leave and I promise nothing will happen to your daughter.”
Anninka stormed out leaving a wide open door behind her.
“What is it with her family and storming out?”
“Lana, dear, you are part of her family.” Charles said, smiling.
“Don't remind me.” I grumbled.
He chuckled and then kissed my forehead.
“I'm going to call a meeting for the Princes so that we can review the plan for Crimson Night, can I trust you alone for a few hours?”
“Of course.” I laughed. “I'm not that much trouble.”
