Elysia’s POV
Bow your head and be good, bow your head and be good. I reminded myself constantly to be good because otherwise I might slip up, otherwise they might notice that I am different. Though, my difference isn’t too noticeable, seeing as I am an Elven, I could simply pass as a vampire born when I use my powers, though my shape-shifter is something that I have been forced to hide, because then I would be counted as a wolf and killed.
“Queen Anninka, King Charles.” My master, Cain, bowed his head. “Where is Lana?” He asked King Charles, who smiled. He was beautiful, but not my type. Queen Anninka frightened me to no end, and the girl behind her was frightening also, her eyes pierced through me but she looked frustrated.
“Where are your manners, Cain? You did not even acknowledge that my daughter was in the room.” Queen Anninka spoke. So that was the famed Angelina, the one who could know everything about you by simply diving into your mind. But I was scared, I knew that she would not be able to get into my mind, because I was not human, not in any way and I heard that the two mind readers of the Vampire world could not hear the wolves, and I was close to their species.
“I apologize, good morning, Angelina. Now where is Lana?”
“She is helping the slaves for some apparent reason. You know Lana; you can never quite understand what she is doing.” Charles smiled.
“Thank you.” Cain bowed and headed back out, dragging me along with him.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“To introduce you to my last favorite, Lana.” I was not that excited to meet Lana because that all Cain would talk about, Lana this, Lana that.
We walked into a large room and I saw the slaves running around and it looked like they were cleaning something but I could not understand why they were in such a rush.
“Lana!” Cain yelled and a pretty brunette stopped and looked at him.
“Cain!” She smiled and weaved her way through the mess and made her way to us. One thing that stood out above all was, she looked just like me. It was not exact, she was tanner and she had blue eyes but she looked just like me.
“Lana, this is Elysia. Elysia, this is Lana.” Cain smiled.
“So, I heard that you were Cain’s new favorite. Has anyone kidnapped you yet?” She laughed.
“That was one time, Lana, and I believe you dealt with the kidnapper.”
“He got what he deserved.” She shrugged. “So, how is Cain treating you?” She asked.
“Fine, ma’am.”
“Don't call me ma’am please.” She said quickly. “I don't agree with this whole slave system so I’d appreciate it if you just called me Lana.”
“Oh-ok.” I said, not sure what to think.
“Cain, do you mind if I take your girl for a minute? I just want to talk to her and I'm sure with you around you'll make her nervous.”
“Sure, I've got to go find Cecily anyways.” Cain looked at me. “Good luck with her, and don't be scared she won't hurt you.”
I nodded and Cain left me with Lana.
“Come with me.” She commanded and I followed her out of the castle and to the back garden. “Now, I could be all nice and try to ease the information out of you, but to be honest that is not my style. What are you?” She asked bluntly.
“What do you mean?”
“You're not human, because I can't read you, not fully at least, and you are not a werewolf because that smell is engraved in my senses.”
“I don't understand.” She could not have figured out that I was that different so quickly, could she have?
“You understand, don't play dumb with me because that will only serve to piss me off. You do not want to tell me, whatever. But don't lie to me about it, and don't you dare hurt Cain because I will rip you limb from limb, do you understand that?” She growled and I nodded. She was terrifying and I am not even sure why, she was only about an inch taller than I was and she was small, so why was I terrified of her?
“I will not harm Cain, that is not my goal.”
“And what is your goal?”
“To stay hidden, to not be discovered. You already know that I am different and I am sure that Angelina already knows also.”
“Ignore Angelina, she is no threat against me and as long as you keep Cain happy I will protect you from whatever Angelina has planned, do not worry. But if you hurt Cain, you will have to deal with me.”
“Thank you.”
“Are you willing to tell me what you are?” I shook my head. “But you are not human?” I nodded. “And you mean us vampires no harm?” Another nod. “Ok, I will let you off the hook for now, because I can tell that you aren’t lying, but I swear do not double cross me. Go back to Cain.” She turned to leave.
“Wait!”
“What?”
“I have no idea where to go.”
“Ok, follow me.”
Lana’s POV
I led Elysia to the throne room, where I knew Cain would be. Elysia was clearly no human and the fact that she was not willing to share what she was made me very suspicious. If she was some new supernatural creature, I do not think that I would be able to deal with because having werewolves, and vampires were enough.
“Cain, I brought her back.” I said, walking into the room. Anninka glared at me because I did not give her the formal greeting, but to be honest I was not going to ever give her a formal greeting because I do not think she deserved it.
“Thank you.”
I was about to ask him what happened to looking for Cecily when I noticed Cecily sitting next to him. She smiled at me hesitantly and I returned the smile, I had nothing against her anymore.
“I will be going.” I turned to leave.
“Be careful, Lana.” Charles said. “Wolves have been spotted near here and I fear that they re after you again. Please, do not leave the castle without someone with you.”
“Of course, Charles.” I smiled at him and left the room.
I should have known that she would be waiting for me.
“What do you want, Angelina?” I asked her.
“What is she? I know that you forced her to tell you.”
“You obviously didn't read me because I did no such thing. I simply told her to behave; I did not force her to tell me anything. What, are you angry because you can't read her?” I went into Angelina’s mind and I discovered that I was right. “See, I can read her, not completely but enough to know that she didn't lie, but you can't read her at all.” I smirked. “I will always be better than you, Angelina.”
“You're a b***h and I hope that you suffer.” She stormed off. Well, that was more dramatic than it should have been.
