Kenneth's POV
A couple of months have passed and working with Jeffrey has slowly become more tolerable. It wasn't as hellish as I expected it to be.
It also seems to me that the monster CEO that everybody is afraid of gets into a better mood once he's fed chocolates.
He pretends he doesn't like them, but Jessica tells me otherwise.
Jessica has been assigned to a different branch and is now working from home. Which I think is good for her.
Today has been a bad day because my alarm didn't go off and I was going to be late. I've never been late because I was too afraid to be late. I didn't want to wait and find out what he'll do if I was.
I hurriedly got ready for work. I rushed out and practically ran for my life.
When I arrived at the office everybody looked at me like I was dead.
"What? What happened?" I demanded.
Just before anybody could answer, Jeffrey stepped out with wide eyes.
My eyes widened as well. I gulped and braced myself for an intense scolding. My heart beating faster and faster with every step he took closer to me.
He just grabbed my arm and dragged me into the office and slammed the door shut.
"Who did this to you?" he quietly asked but I could tell he was not happy.
"I swear to God, I don't know what's going on. First, everybody is looking at me weirdly. Now you're not scolding me because I'm late." I rambled.
He took a deep breath and angrily handed me a mirror.
I pouted as I took the mirror. I looked at myself and laughed. My nose was bleeding.
"This? This happens every time I get too tired, sir! Don't worry!" I said as I pulled out my handkerchief and wiped the blood.
I pinched the bridge of my nose and tilted my head back.
"What are you doing?!" he demanded.
He gently pulled my head back down and made me sit on his chair.
"Keep your head that way. And don't move." he ordered.
"O-Okay…" I mumbled.
Jeffrey’s POV
I made Kenneth sit on my chair and keep still. For someone who gets frequent nosebleeds how does he not know he's not supposed to tilt his head up.
I made my way into our kitchen and grabbed some ice packs, and some tissues.
I went back to my office to find him organizing my desk with one.
Ah, the classic I'm-organizing-something-so-I'm-focused look. I love that. That little tongue sticking out when he gets so focused.
I want to suck on it.
Shut it. We can't have those kinds of thoughts. He's human, and he might not even like us. He doesn't even know!
Just because we know he's our mate doesn't mean we can imprint on him, and force ourselves on him.
Boo, you suck.
I rolled my eyes.
I cleared my throat to announce that I was back.
Kenneth jumped a little on my seat.
"Sir… I… I, um. I'm sorry. I was just fixing your-" he explained
"I know. It's no problem." I cut him off.
I sat on my desk and pulled him closer to me. His face just inches from mine.
"Tilt your head up a little bit so I can clean your face." I said.
He obediently lifted his head and removed the piece of cloth that was now soaked in blood. The bleeding seemed to calm down.
I gently rolled up some tissue papers and pushed them inside his nose gently.
I pulled him closer and I felt his breath hitch a bit.
I grabbed another tissue paper and soaked it with my water that was on my desk, and I started to gently clean his face.
Kiss him.
I can't do that.
Just do it, Jeff.
No.
Suddenly, Kenneth grabbed my hand gently and slowly looked into my eyes.
His brown eyes are burning into mine, and I love those eyes… If only I could tell him he was my mate.
My eyes widened a bit as he leaned in closer, I completely froze.
You're an alpha! What a disgrace.
He stopped as our lips were brushing against each other. Already at this position, his lips feel so soft and I want more.
I could feel my wolf surfacing, and I knew damn well that I couldn't control if Kai, my wolf, starts surfacing.
I pulled away and cleared my throat.
"Go do your job. You have a lot to do." I said as I stood up.
Standing up is my biggest regret. My crotch was tight against the fabric of my pants. I just pretended it was nothing and went out of my office to get some fresh air.
I headed straight for the rooftop and took in deep breaths. As soon as I calmed down I headed back to my office to see a very bothered Kenneth sitting in his cubicle.
I know I wanted to kiss him, and maybe he did lean in… I didn't want him to kiss me because of the heat of the moment. I want it to happen because we planned for it to happen.
He didn't talk to me, and I didn't talk to him. Hours went by like this, and I couldn't stand not hearing his voice.
All was well until my brother came.
“Hey Jeffrey!” Gavin greeted as he stormed in my office.
Despite the obnoxious loudness from my brother, Kenneth still had his head hung low, looking like he was deep in thought about something.
Gavin then notices Kenneth’s presence.
“Is this your new personal assistant? This is your… thousandth one?” he teases.
“Shut up.” I glared at him. “What did you want Gavin?”
“I just came here to remind you that it’s mom’s birthday this weekend. Since you’re such a workaholic, I came here personally to remind you.” he said smiling.
“Sure you did. What did you really want, Gav?” I asked.
“Fine, I just came here to see your assistant. To check if the rumors were true.” he teased.
I furrowed my eyebrows at his statement. I held up a finger to Gavin and made him sit down.
I stood up and approached Kenneth. I gently knocked on his desk to get his attention. He looked up at me and asked what I needed.
“I need you to go run this errand for me.” I said.
