Chapter 4

952 Words
Kenneth's POV I wonder who that guy was before he sent me away. He usually doesn't send me away when he talks to somebody in his office.  He even pushed me away when we were about to kiss. I don't even know what came over me. I don't know why I leaned in like that.  I couldn't possibly like him that way, right? We're both guys, and I know for a fact that my boss is not gay.  I don't even know why this is hurting me so much.  I grabbed the railing in front of me tightly. My head was starting to throb, and I could feel the blood dripping down my nose. I took a sharp breath in as quietly as I could possibly breathe.  I need to calm myself down before anything bad happens. Just keep taking deep breaths. I can't let this affect me.  Jeffrey's POV I closed all the blinds and locked my doors as soon as Kenneth left, then I turned to face Gavin.  "Now, explain to me why you're disturbing me at work." I demanded.  "Listen, I just wanted to know if you really did find our Luna. And if it was that human boy who looked haggard as hell earlier." he explained.  "Yes, he is the pack's Luna but he hasn't figured it out yet nor have I told him about anything. I didn't want to shove these down his throat, and be forced to make a decision." I said.  "I'm also pretty sure he thinks you're straight." he smirked.  "You're right! He could be thinking that. I'm not a femme so I guess it would appear that I'm not gay? I don't know." I said.  I took a deep breath and cleared my head.  "You know what? Go home. This is my problem. If he ends up not being my Luna, then the pack won't have a Luna." I said. "Can you please just go Gavin?" "Yeah, okay. I'll go, but if I were you I'd constantly check up on him. Something feels off. It's best if you keep an eye out." he said.  Gavin pats my backs and heads out of my office.  It's been hours since Kenneth left and he still hasn't come back. I admit, I'm starting to get paranoid after what Gavin said. I tried calling but his cell phone just rang and no answer.  A few hours have passed and I see a very tired Kenneth walk in my office. I looked at him. I was angry, and worried.  I took a deep breath and rushed to hug him.  "You have no idea how worried I was for you!" I said as I hugged him tightly.  He fits well into my arms. I stood at 6'5" and he probably stood at 5'11.  He cleared his throat and gently pushed me away.  "What took you so long?" I frowned.  "I... I got stuck in traffic. I'm sorry. I couldn't find my phone so I could text you." he said with his eyes glued to the floor.  "Okay. Get your things." I said. He nodded and slowly gathered his things. Once all his belongings were prepared I grabbed his wrist and gently pulled him to the elevator.  The door opened at the basement and we made our way to my car. A matte black Rolls Royce Phantom.  "Get in." I demanded.  "But.." he started complaining. "Get. In." I said. He pouted at me and sulkily climbs in the car.  "Don't pout." I said before closing the door.  I climbed in the drivers side and locked the doors. As soon as Kenneth strapped his seatbelt on, I sped through the streets.  "Where are we going?" he asked.  "I am taking your ass home." I said sternly.  "But I still-" he protested. "No. You are going to take the rest of the day off. You hear me?" I interrupted.  "Y-Yes, sir." he quietly mumbled. The drive was painfully quiet and long. I can't stand that I don't know what's going on in that head of his and if he's actually alright.  It frustrates me and worries me. It angers me that I can't even ask because I'm too scared to be vulnerable and show too much emotion.  I stopped in front of the house and looked at him. He was staring out of the window.  "Kenneth." I started.  No response.  "We're here." I tried again.  "Kenneth." I said a bit louder this time.  Still no response. I don't know if he's purposely ignoring me or if he's so tuned out he couldn't hear me.  I leaned in to him and gave his ear a gentle blow.  He jumped but refused to look at me. As if afraid something else would happen if he looked at me. It hurts me that my mate is acting this way.  "Doll. We're here." I whispered in his ear.  I could feel his body tense up. It made me smile a bit but I made sure he didn't see me.  He stammered out a thank you and got out of my car. He fished around in his bag, probably looking for keys. His walking was pretty wobbly.  I make his knees weak.  We can make them weaker.  It pleases me so much how I can get a reaction from my mate. I'd like to do it some more up until he feels more comfortable around me.  I drove back to the pack house to find everyone waiting for me.  This is new.  I went out of my car and scanned everybody's faces. Fear, worry, and anger were painted on their faces.  "What happened?" I asked.  "They know about our Luna. They want him gone, Alpha." Gavin replied.
