The Gift
Kirby's PoV
Callie is no longer here. Her mother took her.
Those words kept ringing in my ears and mind. I'm still thinking about what Dad has said, still I can't believe it. I was still looking at Callie earlier when she was in bed, silently sleeping. Why is it so sudden?
"W-why? Why the rush?" I stammered.
"Her father is out of rehab now and her mother was scared to death. She impulsively took Callie and moved to the province," Dad explained. My father is a man of few words. But he took time to explain everything to me. He understands how much I care for Callie, since she is the only one who has befriended us. She is already a part of our family.
