Where do I go from here?

Its been almost a month ago that we finished University with Sara. She wanted to party and we went to different places but I felt like I didn't belong there. Quickly partying became her thing and I started to work in a nearby pub which was the haunt of the city's hunters. I had the feeling that the owner only hired me because of my family and not for my qualities. It hurt like hell  but I pulled myself straight and focused on my goals. I needed money to start my own veterinary office. Sara didn't feel the need of money, we both new that if we would ask, her parents would give us all the necessary money. But I liked to earn the money for my dreams, by this way they felt hundred percent mine. It was a usual day at the pub, around four o'clock the hunters started to slowly gather, around seven pm the pub was full of hunters, constructors, and a few citizens who came to release the tired stream. It was a Friday night and I could barley catch up with myself. The door swung open and another group entered but they were around my age, young handsome guys also dressed as hunters , which honestly made them to look awful in my eyes. They sat right in front of me and tried to hit on me impressing me with their preys. I had to sigh and  just let them do it because the owner kept an eye on me.

- So sweetheart. You are the famous tame Hunter?- one of them asked and I saw lust in his eyes as he watched me from head to toe like I was his next prey. Even winked at me and I tried not to puke.

- Baby girl turn around let's see what we are working with! - Another said letting out a wolf whistle. The owner turned around and left to talk with a few of his friends. I got distracted with searching for him and the third guy caressed my face while I cut limes. I growled and felt how the tension could've been cut with the knife in my hand. Immediately stabbed the knife in the table between the fingers of the hunter who was caressing my face without looking at my aim. The rest of his friends gasped and pulled a little further. I grabbed his coat and pulled him closer to me and whispered.

- I'm not tame. If you ever try to touch me again. - I pulled out the knife and pointed at his family treasure.- the next will be more accurate. Understood? -  he nodded and I turned away to continue on preparing the drinks. When I finished they left the bar seats and I smiled until I heard a slow clap behind my back.

- Beautiful job! - I turned to the direction of the voice and there was a very tall hunter guy. He was really good looking and from his chestnut eyes clam radiated. He gave me a cocky smile and I bowed a little.  He sat down to the same spot where I threatened the other hunter. 

- What can I give for you? - I asked and he ran his fingers in his curly short black hair. His skin was a little darker and his smile was ravishing. "If Sara would see this guy she would go mad for him" 

- A beer will be fine. Take your time, I see this place is really busy tonight. Sebastian. -he said and I shook hands with him. His touch was firm and strong. When we shook our hands he quickly pulled it away. Like it was shocked by mine. 

- Alexis Hunter. Sorry Dr. Alexis Hunter, I'm still getting used to my title. - he shook his strange expression like he was looking into nothing and smiled at me.

- What kind of doctor? - I smiled and new what is coming.

- Veterinarian.  - he whistled.

- Hey! Aren't you the daughter of Sam and Lynn Hunter? - I felt how my good mood flew away and nodded in shame. 

- Yes. But blood doesn't make someone the same as their parents. Do you know them? - I asked curiously. I didn't want my family to knw where I am, but they probably knew already just didn't care. I don't know which option was worst. 

-I don't know them, just heard about their reputation. - I rolled my eyes and hoped if these people only knew what my parents were in reality... 

- Hey no hard feelings, I'm not a fun of hunting either! - Sebastian said and I felt how one of my eyebrows ran to the middle of my forehead. 

- Um.. Sorry but you seem pretty much into hunting. - I showed at his clothing and he laughed a little nervously and leaned closer to whisper me something.   I leaned close to him and waited. Sebastian whispered in an almost inaudible voice.

- Everybody has their reasons to act like they do. - I pulled away and he winked again. The meantime I prepared drinks and chatted with Sebastian. It was his first time in our pub but his company definitely made my day. Sebastian stayed until closing and offered a ride to me home when I couldn't reach Sara again... I accepted. Something told me that I could trust Sebastian. When my shift was over he waited for me outside of the pub and we walked to his car. A black jeep. 

- Is this the part where you hit me from behind and kidnap me? - I asked mockingly. Sebastian's laughter filled the empty street.

- As I saw tonight I'm the one who should be worried. Actually I feel like a sheep with a wolf on the passenger seat. - again I raised my eyebrow. He was a strong tall guy, I could see his muscles pretty well, while I was a short, pale ginger girl. 

- There is no basis in reality for what you said. I mean look at yourself and at me. I1m petite, feminine, and thin. You are a tall muscle guy. It is obvious who is the prey here. - Sebastian laughed again while he drove to Sara's house.

- Gingerbread! Don't be so sure about this. I think we both know that you are a wolf in sheep clothing waiting to show your teeth.- I laughed at this. ME? As a wolf. Oh come on!

- I shouldn't let you drive, you are drunk. - Sebastian caressed his short beard and shook his head. The car stopped and I jump out of it.

- Well thank you for the ride and the company, it really made my day! - Sebastian lifted his imaginary hat.

- Anytime milady! - I giggled and said.

- Gingerbread was more accurate! - it was Sebastian's turn to laugh and he drove away. Sara came out of the house  running at that moment he left.

- f**k Lexi! I'm sorry! I didn't see the time! - she smelled in the air and my friend's eyes turned darker. She looked after the car and asked.

- Who was that? - I looked ta her expression and something was odd.

- Sebastian, we met at the pub. He was hanging around with a few hunters. I think he would be your type. - I winked and Sara just stared after Sebastian's car.

- Sara are you coming? - I asked from the doorstep. 

- Yeah. -she said and came after me. Inside she still looked a little out zoned. I touched her shoulder and she shivered.

- Sara are you okay? - she forced a smile and nodded.

- Hundred percent!  In fact I have a wonderful news! - we went to the living room. Martin and Camila were out of town for a week so it was juts the two of us. Sara pulled me down to the couch and said.

- I got a job for both of us! 

- Sara I have a job already...

- Yeah but you must leave that one because the one I got is a lot better.- I crossed my arms in front of my chest and waited.

- I'm all ears. -Sara smile wide and said.

- Drum roll please! - I drummed with my fingers on the coffee table and she almost screamed.

- I introduce you Dr. Sara Davids and Dr. Alexis Hunter, the city's new vets!!! 

- I don't understand. The city has its vet, Dr. Sean. - Sara nodded and said.

- Yes but I met with him today, he is a good friend of my parents. Dr. Sean wants to retire. He said that if we could run the vet together he will give it to us for free! - I was in shock. Sara had to shook me a little.

- Sara we can't accept this. You know how expensive is that? We don't have any money to cover the costs, and we don't have real experience. - Sara stopped me midsentence.

- Clam your t**s girl! Dr. Sean will supervise us for a few month more. He will help with everything and t would be a good negotiation for him as well. He cares a lot about these city, he knows that their animals will be in good hands with us. The money is not a problem so stop worrying about it. This would be a help for Dr.Sean as well. His wife passed away two years ago, since that he is planning to move to California to be with his grandchildren and children. He had nobody to pass the vet so he couldn't leave, but now he can! - I thought over what Sara said. Before I could've say anything she said.

-And the best is yet to come! 

- Is there more?

- Yepp, he said if you renovate the little house he owned its yours! - I was grateful that Sara pulled me down on the couch because I would've fainted by now. 

- You knw what this means? - I asked Sara in a shaking voice and she took my hands in hers.

- That your dream is coming true in front of your eyes and I'll be there to share a bit of it. -I nodded and we hugged each other. Sara went to the kitchen and came back with a champagne.  She poured a glass for each and she said a toast.

- Here's to us! - I giggled and we drank our champagne. Sara then curled to me on the couch and looked me with dreamy eyes.

- And now yo should tell me everything about that Sebastian! - I laughed at her, she was resting her head on my lap and listened like she was a child. I told her everything and she was so disappointed that I didn't ask for his number. 

- Maybe you should work a week more on that pub. He must appear again, and then you will hunt him down to me. - Sara said and grabbed my shoulders looking deeply in my eyes.

- This is your mission Alexis! Get that number! - I got a little shocked because the way Sara talked to me brought back many unpleasant memories and she saw that somehow she hit a sensitive spot. I knew Sara was just fooling around but it was so similar that sent a shiver down my spine.

- Are you sure you don't want to talk about it? - she asked.

- Yes. It's the past and I won't let it haunt me. 

- That's my girl!
