Truth or Dare
Sebastian
When I dropped Alexis at the house I smelled a few of our pack members in there and honestly I didn't know if she was saying the truth and she wasn't like her family or she held our pack members as captives. Alexis seemed a quiet honest girl and my wolf told me to believe her, but she was a Hunter with capital H.
- We must tell about this to Carter. She lives inside our borders she could mean harm to the pack. - I said to my wolf Shane.
- Sebastian she is not dangerous. - Shane said.
- We can't be cautious enough.
- Hey, did you feel what I felt when we arrived to the house we left Gingerbread?
- What do you mean?
- I smelled hot chocolate and rum. I mean not the food but someone smelled like that.
- Sorry I was too focused on getting info from her.
- You are a lost cause. We will never find our mate by this way... - Shane growled and curled back into the back of my mind. It was really nice to have my wolf and I got him at a pretty young age. Shane was my partner in crime and Carter was my best friend since childhood. After a great hour of driving I pulled to the private garage reserved for high ranking wolves and ran to Carter's office. Our pack house was huge and more a mansion than a house. On the fourth floor lived Carter, his parents, me his Beta and our closest friends. On the third the elders and a few guestrooms. The second floor hold place for the offices and dancehalls. The first and ground floor was open for everyone. There were an enormous cantina, kitchen, library, gym... I mind linked Carter that I'm on my way to his office.
"- Dude wake up!
- Sebastian, I'm awake but what the hell is wrong with you?- Carter asked.
- We need to discuss something very important!
- I'm coming."- we ended the mind link and met in Carter's office. It used to be his father's before and Carter took over the Alpha duties when he was 23 years old. He was our Alpha for five years now and he ran really well our pack. Since he got his title our pack members number doubled just like our territory. The companies that was under Carter's hand grew as well giving a nice income to the Pack. We all loved and feared him. Carter's power was even greater than his fathers although the pack started to get concerned about the fact that he still hasn't found his mate. I sat down in front of Carter and he waited.
- So? - he asked. Carter was almost ahead taller than I. With long hair till his shoulder and slightly tan skin. Power radiated from my friend but I was the only one who was strong enough to take him to his place if it was necessary. Only a few members knew that I was also from Alpha blood. Carter's father found me after a rouge attack destroyed my pack and family. He adopted me and raised me like his own. We were practically brothers with Carter. I never craved for his power I was perfectly fine being his Beta even Shane surrendered to Diesel, Carter's wolf. I cleared my throat.
- There is a hunter inside our borders. -Carter raised his eyebrow and hummed.
- Did you tracked him? You knw if he is passing by or residing in the city? What's his name? - Carter asked and pulled a book out of his drawer. We registered every hunter in or near our territory and kept an eye on them. It was my duty.
- Her... -I said. Carter looked up from his book and I saw his eyes getting black.
- Her? - he asked and I nodded.
- Well fine, there are plenty of female hunters as well. - Carter shrugged his shoulders and I felt how a sweat drop ran down on my neck. Carter must've smelled my worry because he said.
- Cut the crap Seby! Tell me what you know.
- Her name is Doctor Alexis Hunter.
- That Hunter?! - Carter asked and his office shook a little by the power of his voice. Luckily the rooms were all soundproof.
- Yes Carter. That Hunter. She just moved here and she works at the pub.
- What kind of doctor is that? - That...it made my wolf growl how Carter talked about Alexis. She was really sweet.
- SHE is a veterinarian. - Carter looked really surprised.
- What else do you know about her? - I smiled because he know talked about Alexis like a living person.
- She is sweet and kind, but also strong and has a few tricks in her sleeve. I saw her stabbing a knife between Pete's fingers without looking at them when he touched her face. After that she threatened Pete that if he touches her again she will aim to his d**k. - Carter laughed imagining the scene.
- How does she look like? - I felt curiosity coming from the direction of my dear friend.
- Honestly? Cute. She is small, with reddish brown hair, white skin with many freckles and she has got silver blue eyes. I'm worried about her being a real threat but Shane said that she means no harm. -Carter looked pensive and said.
- Let's keep an eye on her just to be sure. - I nodded but stayed at my seat.
- Anything else? - Cater asked.
- She lives in a pack member's house. She said that is her friend's house. Alexis might not know about our existence or we have a few pack members as captives...- Carter roared a little and tired to stay calm.
- Tomorrow you should pay a visit to that house and I'll call them here to see how are things going. If they won't come we must rescue them.
- Okay.
- Which house she lives in?
- In the Davids'. - Carter nodded and we left his office, I turned to the stair to get to my bed but Carter headed down.
- Where are you going? - I asked.
- I'll go for a run. - I felt concern from his voice and with a sigh I followed my friend. We ran to a nearby river where we used to escape at the night and play that we were wild lone wolves who didn't need a mate.
- I have the feeling that you are more concerned about something different what has nothing to do with my discover. - Carter laughed and it sounded a little bitter.
- You know me so well Seby. Yes, there is something what doesn't let me sleep.
- Split it out. - I said and he sighed.
- My father said that I have to marry Elizabeth White, the daughter of an ally Alpha. He said I'm too old to be mate less and I should accept the fact that my mate might be dead. - I growled and felt how Shane wanted to come to the surface. An Alpha's Luna was the most important person for him and for the pack. Our Luna's were the impersonation of the Moon Goddess. There were a few of our kind who married and had children form different wolves then their true mates but they weren't complete. We are only our true selves and get our full potential if we are together with the one and only the Moon Goddess chose for us.
- This is bullshit Carter. You must be with your mate just like everyone else! You are the Alpha , they can't force you.
- They can. My father threatened that he will take back the pack if I won't marry Elizabeth. She doesn't want to marry me neither, we both want our mates. But the pressure is great. Her parents are in bad health and Liz has a brother Luca who is only ten. They won't let Elizabeth take the title without an Alpha.
- This is so bad dude.
- Are you telling me? They will come in a few days to visit. I'll be forced basically into an arranged marriage if I won't find my mate soon.
- Can I help you somehow?
- I don't think so.
- Maybe I can start to remember our pack members how much better you rule than your father did. Maybe we can turn them to your side and ask to be more patient!
- I love the idea but my mother already started the campaign to accept Elizabeth as their new Luna. She is kind and from a good family. Many pack members are already referring to her as their new Luna. I feel like my hands are tied and I can't believe my own family did this to me! - I laughed a little and Carter stared at me with dead eyes.
- I'm glad you are enjoying my misery.
- It's not that dude! I just spent the evening and night chatting to that Hunter girl to find out more about her and to be honest. You two are a lot alike.
- What do you mean?
- She hates her family because they tried to force her to be someone she isn't. Do you know why she is so famous along the hunters?
- As I know she rebelled against her family.
- Exactly. She just left when she was eighteen. Alexis secretly earn the money for her studies and with her own words she "is a disgrace to the Hunter name because she helps to their prey instead of killing it". - A large smile spread on Carter's face.
- She has some guts if she was able to do this alone. I can imagine how her family made harder to her.
- They did believe me. She told me a lot about herself. You know how easy is to talk with me. - I winked and Carter laughed.
- If someone has the power to release people tongues. - I shrugged and we both laughed. My grandmother used to be a witch and I inherited her power to get out the truth of the people. This is why Carter gave me the duty to get information. We both stood up and headed back home. Tomorrow morning it will be our first duty to call the Davids and make sure they are fine.
