Chapter Six:Morgan wasn’t entirely sure what she’d agreed to, but the longer they remained in this strange place, the greater the likelihood their bodies would be consumed. By thirst, hunger, or questing beast, dying by any means would leave them just as dead.
She wasn’t sure what to expect, but finding the gate open and no guards to challenge them was a surprise.
No villagers walked the streets.
No sound of voices.
Not even a barking dog or crow of a rooster greeted them.
This clump of homes was as deserted as the desert they until recently traveled.
“Where is everyone?” Morgan asked.
