Amethyst's POV
"Hey, Shaw" I said as I closed the door of the car after Ara got in.
I turned to look at Shaw.
He raised his brow at me and eyed me.
"Stop calling me Shaw" he said in an annoyed tone.
"What am I supposed to call you then? Devon? We're not close enough to go first name basis, no thanks" I said crossing my arms infront of my chest.
"Not close enough? We're getting married. And even before that, we---" he was about to say but I covered his mouth in panic.
"Don't you dare talk about that" I warned.
Shaw chuckled and held my hand to remove it from his mouth.
"Why shouldn't I?" he asked with a smirk.
My jaw clenched.
"It was a mistake" I said.
I saw how Shaw's face darkened.
"Amy?" Ara called out as she rolled the window down.
"I'll get in there in a sec, Ara. Give us a moment" I told her.
Ara nodded and rolled the window up again.
I faced Shaw once more.
His face was expressionless this time.
"Like I was supposed to say, I don't want you to make Ara feel uncomfortable. I didn't even agree for you to come with us in the first place. Do what you want to do as long as it doesn't involve us" I said and walked away from him.
I got inside the car.
"Let's go" I said to the driver.
"Is everything okay, Amy?" Ara asked.
I nodded and gave her a small smile.
"Everything's fine" I assured her.
The car drove off as I stared out the window.
Was I too harsh?
I mean, I've always been like that.
But why am I suddenly feeling bad?
It's not like I'm being a btch to him.
He started it first by barging in my parents' house and taking me away in the most barbaric way.
But then again, it's because I refused to talk to him.
Except, I have a right to refuse him.
I massaged my temple in frustration.
I'm over thinking this.
"Amy, are you sure that you're alright?" Ara asked worried.
I nodded.
"I'm fine. I really am" I told her.
After a while, we reached the mall and Ara and I got out.
I stopped and sighed when I saw Shaw get out of his car.
I pursed my lips feeling frustrated.
"Ara, give me a moment" I told my sister.
Ara nodded and I made my way towards Shaw.
Shaw immediately looked at me with a raised brow.
"I won't---" he was about to say but I immediately cut him off.
"You're a jerk" I said.
His brows furrowed at me.
I bit my lower lip and looked away.
"But I'm also quite a btch so that's that" I continued.
I sighed and looked at Shaw.
"I think I was a bit too mean to you. I mean, you can't really blame me because it's your fault but still" I said.
Shaw chuckled.
"Look" I said and took a deep breath.
"I don't think we get along well. I don't like you. I simply just don't and I'm not even going to lie about it" I told him.
Shaw looked at me with an amused expression as he crossed his arms infront of his chest.
"I know that you're not very fond of me either so---" I continued but got cut off.
"Who said that I'm not fond of you?" he suddenly butt in.
I paused as I looked at him.
"Me. I said it" I said as I rolled my eyes.
Shaw chuckled.
"You're quite densed, aren't you?" he said.
I raised a brow at him.
"Of course I'm fond of you, miss Amethyst Wright. Why would I go through all this trouble getting close to you if I'm not fond of you" he said raising his brows at me.
I stood there baffled.
"You're weird" I blurted out.
Shaw laughed.
"Says you" he said chuckling.
Then, he ruffled my hair but I quickly slapped his arm away with a frown.
"Do you have a death wish? I said annoyed.
Shaw chuckled.
"I accept your apology" he said.
My brows furrowed.
Apology?
I wasn't apologizing.
"I'm not trying to apologize for anything" I said.
"Okay. Let's just say you aren't. Let's go" he said and held my hand.
"Hey!" I complained as I tried to pull my hand away from him.
Shaw just smirked.
This piece of---ugh!
"Amara, let's go" Shaw said to my sister.
Ara looked at our hands and then at me.
I shook my head for her not to misunderstand anything but it was too late when a smile crept her face.
"Okay" Ara said and clung onto my other arm excitedly.
I sighed as I continued to take my hand away from Shaw but failed.
In the end, I just let him be seeing he wouldn't budge.
I wasn't in the mood to make a scene and I'm with Ara so I don't want to stress her out by showing what kind of relationship I have with Shaw.
The hate relationship, I mean.
Once I stopped resisting, Shaw intertwined our hands together.
I glared at him but he ignored me.
I was so close to hitting him but I kept my temper in check.
"Amara, have you bought the things for your baby?" Shaw suddenly asked Ara.
Ara and I both looked at him stunned.
"Y-you know about my pregnancy?" Ara asked nervously as her hold tightened on my arm.
I saw how Shaw's eyes shifted.
He must've realized that it was a sensitive topic with Ara's reaction.
"Oh yeah. It's because I'm thrilled to be an uncle, that's why" Shaw said.
Ara relaxed a bit as she smiled.
"Really?" Ara asked hopeful.
Shaw nodded.
"Of course" he said.
Ara's face lit up with happiness.
Then, she glanced at me with a wide smile on her face.
"Do you want to look for baby stuff?" Shaw asked her.
Ara nodded excitedly.
"Then, let's go" Shaw said and Ara basically dragged us.
We reached the baby section and Ara started exploring the area looking for random things for babies.
It was still tok early to shop for things like this for Klein but I let her anyway.
She can do anything she wants, that's the main reason why I take her out.
I glanced at Shaw.
"Aren't you going to let go of my hand?" I said with a bored look.
Shaw shook his head.
"Why would I?" he said.
I rolled my eyes.
"Times like this, I wished I haf brought a knife with me so I can cut your hand off of me" I said glaring at Shaw.
Shaw just chuckled.
If he thinks that it's a joke, it's actually not.
I'm already thinking of dragging him to the knife section so he'd let me go.
"Amy, look! Isn't this so cute?" Ara said as she pointed at the pink crib excitedly.
I smiled.
"It is" I agreed.
Ara smiled widely.
"Let's buy it" Shaw suddenly said.
I glanced at him wide eyed.
"No, Shaw" I said.
"Why not?" he said.
"You do realize that Ara is only 3 months along, right?" I said.
"And?" he said.
I looked at him in disbelief.
"It's too early to buy the baby's things. I just thought it was cute but I don't think we should buy it on impulse...Shaw" Ara said shyly.
"Call me Devon" Shaw said to Ara.
Ara nodded.
"Okay...Devon" she said shyly.
After that, Ara continued to look at the baby stuff.
I just stayed in the corner with Shaw.
"My hands are getting numb and I'm getting agitated too. If you don't let me go, I'll cut your arm off" I said in a bored tone.
Shaw laughed.
Then, he let my hand go and started massaging it.
I eyed him.
"I'm letting it go because you said it was feeling numb and not because you threatened to cut me arm off" he said.
I scoffed and retrieved my hand from him.
After a while, Ara finished her window shopping and we headed somewhere else.
Shaw stayed by our side as guards followed behind us.
Then, my phone rang.
I took it out of my pocket and saw that ot was Celine by the caller ID registered as 'Babe'.
I immediately saw Shaw's brows furrow when he saw it.
I ignored him and answered the call.
"Hey" I greeted.
"Hi, babe! I'm sorry I couldn't call you last night. Something suddenly came up"
"It's fine. I fell asleep anyway" I told.
"Oh okay good. Anyway, what are you up to today?"
"I'm in the mall with Ara. Why?" I said.
"Oh nothing. I was just checking if you were having fun or if you're working your a*s off again. It's good to know that it's the first"
I chuckled.
"You should enjoy your time with Ara. I'll see you soonest! Mwa!"
"Bye" I said goodbye.
"Bye, babe"
Then, we ended the call.
Shaw gave me a judging look.
"What?" I spat.
Shaw frowned.
"Don't worry, Devon. It's just Amy's bestfriend. Amy's bestfriend changed the contact ID to 'Babe' to keep Amy away from creepy guys" Ara explained.
I turned to look at Ara stunned.
Did she just explain to Shaw?
Shaw's expression immediately changed.
"That's good to know" Shaw said and eyed me.
I rolled my eyes.
Whatever.
It's none of his business anyway.
"Amy has never had a boyfriend so you really don't have to worry about anything" Ara blurted out.
I looked at Ara wide eyed.
"Ara" I scolded.
Ara looked at me guilty as she chuckled awkwardly.
I sighed.
Shaw laughed and I glared at him.
After going to a few more shops, we headed to a restaurant for lunch.
Ara bought a lot of stuff but it wasn't my money that she spent.
Shaw kept insisting and forcing to pay and always succeed.
I took a mental note to find out his bank account and send him the money back.
He's really annoying.
But the thing is, Ara seemed really fond of him.
In fact, she wasn't even uncomfortable around him.
Ara and Shaw talked a lot as I just listened on to them.
I felt relieved but bothered at the same time.
"The baby's fetus name is Klein" Ara told Shaw.
"Really?" Shaw said as he listened to Ara but glanced at me from time to time.
Ara nodded.
"Do you already have plans in picking the actual baby's name?" Shaw asked her.
Ara nodded.
"I want my baby's name to be close to Amy's name since Amy helps me alot and because Amy will be the favorite aunty" Ara explained.
"I'm the only aunty" I pointed out.
Ara and Shaw laughed.
"Devon" Ara said.
"Yeah?" Shaw replied.
"Do you want to build a family with Amy?" Ara suddenly asked.
I almost choked on my food.
Thankfully, Shaw handed me glass of water before I almost died.
"I don't think that's a question that I should answer alone" Shae said and glanced at me.
I looked away.
What kind of game is this?
Shaw can't possibly be serious.
Build a family?
No, thank you.
I'm not trying to build a family with a person who makes my blood boil every other second.
I'm convinced that this whole time, Shaw has been pretending in front of Ara to make a different impression for himself.
Shaw eyed me with a teasing smile and I glared at him.
After lunch, Shaw had to leave.
He didn't say why but I didn't ask either.
But it really was for the beat.
Ara was beginning to warm up to Shaw.
For all I know, they'll be best friends by the end of today.
The last thing I need is for Ara to get attached to a temporary person.
Also, Shaw was the third wheel but I was starting to feel that I was the third wheel in this mall trip.
