It was close to nine Monday morning when Dirk and Maverick arrived at the motel. They booked a room and then called Jesse to let him know they were there. It turned out he and Fey were watching the apartment building again, so they joined them at the coffee house across the street. “Any movement, yet?” Maverick asked. Jesse shook his head. “Not so far.” “Okay. You can head home, now. We’ll take over.” “But I like it here,” Fey pouted. Jesse snorted. “Says the woman who spent the last couple of days saying she was bored out of her mind.” “I wouldn’t have been if we could have seen more of Portland than a three-block area and the local movie theater.” “Maybe next time,” Dirk told her. “Right now, go home.
