Alice's POV
I wake up bright and early to begin my first official day as Alpha. My father insists to be by my side for the first day in case I need help with anything. I sit on the chair behind the huge desk and open up my planner for the day. I had made Noah my beta, and Chris my gamma since I trust the guys the most in this pack.
It's crazy to think that this was almost not my home. I quickly erase that thought and focus at my task at hand. A knock on the door has me saying, "Come in!" Without asking who it is because I can smell that it's my brother. "Hey sis, how's it going?" I stare at him, "That's Alpha to you, bro." I snarl at him. He submits to me immediately and apologizes. "I'm just messing with you, Noah. Only family and a few others are allowed to call me by my name." I smile at him and he playfully punches me in the arm.
Our father chuckles at us and asks Noah what's up?
He proceeds to place a file on my desk. I flip through it and see that it's information about the Full Moon pack. It seems they are a small pack due to many recent rogue attacks. Strange. Why is this pack being targeted? It makes sense they would seek us out for an alliance.
"Thank you, Noah. I'll give this Alpha Liam a call." After he leaves my office, my dad chuckles again. "What's so funny?" He tells me that his first time at having a meeting with another alpha did not go well. That this said meeting was the start of many battles. "Who was your first meeting with?" I was curious as to which pack this was that dared start a battle with us. "Your biological father."
Oh, that asshole. I shouldn't be surprised.
"Well, let's hope that my first meeting doesn't end like yours did."
"If you need me, just link. I think you can handle this on your own." He gives me a hug before leaving the office. I call this Alpha Liam and arrange for him to join me for dinner to discuss matters. He agrees and we end the call.
I spend the rest of the evening going through paperwork until my alarm goes off. I waned to make sure I gave myself time to get dressed and have a private table set up for us to talk at. I walk to Violet's room and knock on the door. No answer. Hmm.. maybe she's with her friends in the living room.
I enter the living room and look around, still no sign of her. "Noah!" I grab his attention, causing him to groan as he pauses his video game. His friends also upset that I stopped there game. Boys. "Do you know where Violet is? She's not in her room." He smirks at me and gets up from his spot. He pulls me outside to talk. "She's with Chris in the garden." My eyes widen is surprise. "No way!" I gasp out. He places a hand over my mouth. "Shhh! Don't be shouting for the whole world to hear." I'm sure whatever it is they are talking about or doing is important, so I won't bother her. She'll tell me if she wants to.
"Okay, thanks. Sorry for disrupting you from your game. I'll catch up with you later."
I then go to track down my mom, but freeze when I'm outside her bedroom. Gross. She's occupied with dad. I check my watch. s**t! I guess I'm on my own for picking out an outfit. I start to head to my room when I bump into Sarah, the top female warrior. She bows her head and apologizes to me. "You can make it up to me by doing my a favor." I say to her, causing her to reply with, "Anything for you, Alpha!"
She is a tough woman, but with a great sense of style! She has me looking gorgeous, yet professional. I thank her and make my way to the kitchen with ten minutes to spare. I ask the omega preparing dinner to set up two plates on one of the patio tables outside.
Soon the doorbell rings and I make my way over to the entrance to let the guards know that Alpha Liam is a guest and may enter. He is a very attractive man! Baby blue eyes, muscular body that his shirt fails to hide, sun kissed skin and dark blonde hair.
He takes my hand and places a kiss on it. "Nice to meet you, Alpha Alice." I smile at this handsome man, "The pleasure is all mine. Now, please follow me." My wolf is growling in my head as we make our way to the patio. What is your problem? I ask her in my mind. She replies, "I don't trust him." Well, that's a red flag for me. I always trust my wolf instincts. Still, I would like to hear what this man has to say. Figure out what his real agenda is and why he is being targeted.
We take our seat as an omega brings out our food. We both thank her and I get straight to the point. "Alpha Liam, I read that your pack has been targeted by rogues, causing many casualties to your pack members. He stiffens, "Unfortunately, yes." Vague answer. Red flag number two.
"Do you have any idea as to why they are attacking your pack?" I watch him sit as he tried to think of an answer, clearly thinking up a good lie. It's not that difficult of a question.
"If you can't be honest with me, I don't think we can help you." He stares at me wide eyed.
"Please, you have to! I don't know why they are after me, I mean, my pack."
"Sorry, I don't think w-
I didn't get to finish my sentence because I sensed Violet nearby. "Alice! Do you have time to ta-? Oh, sorry! I didn't know you had company. I'll talk to you later. Sorry for disturbing you both.
She goes to turn around and head into the packhouse when Liam stands up quickly. "MATE!"
I sit there, stunned at the word he just said.
