Alice's POV
My alarm goes off at six a.m and I reach over to turn the annoying beeping sound off. Happy birthday. I whisper to myself as I begin to get up. Every morning I do the same routine which consist of waking up early to grab a quick breakfast. Then it's followed by me going to the gym in the basement to work out. After my work out, I have a one on one private session with the packs top warrior, Peter. I'll proceed to have a quick snack then join all the warriors outside for the pack training session.
As future Alpha, I want to be the strongest I can be and capable of protecting myself and my pack. Plus, training in general is just fun for me. I find it to be a wonderful outlet to relieve stress.
I plug my headphones in and begin my work out until I hear the familiar voice belonging to Peter. "Happy Birthday! Don't you ever take a day off to relax?" He questions me, looking concerned. I let out a laugh before answering him. "I think you know the answer to that." He's been my private instructor for the past two years and I have never missed a session. He simply sighs before we begin.
Two hours later and I am a hot mess. My wolf is begging me for food, so Peter and I head to the kitchen for a quick lunch. My mom and her best friend, Rose, usher me to sit down and begin to pile a plate full of my favorite foods. I waste no time digging in, saying thank you with my mouth full. Rose lets out a laugh while my mom rolls her eyes at me. "Real classy, Alice." She remarks, but I just shrug my shoulders.
It's not long before the entire dining hall is filled with my family and pack members. Violet takes a seat next to me and I can tell that something is bothering her. "Alice, can I talk with you after breakfast?" She nervously asks, making me fill with worry. "Of, course. Let's just take our food to my room and talk. Sound good?" She nods her head and we excuse ourselves while carrying a tray of beverages and food to my room.
I lock the door as soon as we step inside and ask her what's going on. She stares at me, hesitating to say what is on her mind. "Violet, are you okay? You're really worrying me." I tell her. "I'm fine, it's you I'm worried about." She finally speaks. "Me? Why?" She looks as though sh'es holding back tears, so I approach her and bring her in for a hug. "I don't want you to accept the Alpha position." She sobs against me.
"And why is that?" I ask, trying to contain the anger rising within me. Does she not think I can handle the position? That I would make a bad Alpha?
"I'm scared of losing you! Dad is so strong, but I still fear for his life every time he goes out to battle. I don't want to feel that way with you as well!" My heart aches to see my little sister like this. I understand though. I also worry for our father and pack members when they head out to battle. Thankfully, mom is human and isn't allowed into the field. The same goes for Violet. She's human, like our mom, and is not allowed to fight.
"Violet. Look at me. I love you and will always return to you. I promise. Please, try not to worry so much about me. We are the strongest pack in the world and that should comfort you." She nods her head. A knock on the door has me springing to my feet. I open the door and let Noah inside. "Having sibling bonding time without your favorite brother?" He exclaims dramatically. "What do you want?" I ask and he seems hurt by my attitude. "Are you still mad about this morning? Sorry sis. We honestly didn't mean to startle you. It won't happen again." I take a deep breath in and hug him. "It's okay. I'm the one who should be apologizing. Also, how did you manage to hide both of your scents?" I was meaning to ask them about that, but totally forgot until now.
Noah smiles at me, "Gloria." Ah, that makes sense. Gloria is the only witch in our pack, and is always eager to help anyone in need of magic. "Oh, I came up here because dad wants to see you in his office. He tried mind linking you, but it seems you are blocking everyone off." He's right. I am. I love everyone in the pack, but my link was being bombarded with happy birthday's and the constant, have you found your mate yet questions. I just wanted some peace and quiet for a bit.
"Okay, I'll head down. I'll see you guys later."
I knock on the office door and open it before he even says to come in. "Hello, princess. Please, take a seat." He gestures to the chair directly across from his desk. I look around the office and smile as I think that this will all be mine by tomorrow.
"Tell me. How are you feeling? Be honest with me." He ask sternly. I knew what he was getting at, so I gave him my answer.
"I feel strong, confident, and proud to be the next Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack. I've been dreaming of this day for as long as I can remember." That was my honest answer. I always looked up to my dad and was eager to learn every single thing about wolf history and running a pack.
"I am so proud of you." He smiles at me, which I return as well. Even though he's not my biological father, he will always be my dad in my eyes. He has always treated me the same as his biological children. I had only learned about my parents past drama two years ago. I was upset and angry that I was the result of a rape. If they hadn't killed my biological father, I certainly would have tracked him down so I could do so.
My father and I continued to talk until it was time for training. As I left the office, I was tackled to the ground by a strong man. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! " I look at Chris and hug him tight. Chris is the son of Rose, Jackson, and Kevin. He's our best friend and to be honest, I think he has a crush on Violet. I'm rooting for them to be mates. He's younger than us, so he won't find out for a few more years.
He's a hopeless romantic and can't wait to find out who his mate is. So, when I saw him open his mouth, I quickly responded. "No, I haven't found my mate and don't ask again." He chuckles and continues to walk with me outside.
